One hopes Nationalist Spain does not join them.

Allied invasion of Sicily turned into a complete disaster. German Fuhrer Hitler mocked British-French invasion in a radio broadcast.
A pity: not securing Messina in time proved critical. May the Austrian Corporal be forced to eat his words on some glorious future day.
In Greece, Athens has fallen. Greek Army continues to resist bravely but with reinforcements coming from Sicily, the end may come soon.
This seems inevitable, with or without Axis reinforcements from Sicily.

As it proved to be, alas.
Pro-German government in Iraq was overthrown. The British agreed to temporary union of Free French Syria and Iraq.
A small compensation, but better than nothing.

I have caught up just in time for this disaster.

Well that was a tragedy, I can't imagine relations between the UK and France are good right now.
I imagine everyone is cursing Churchill for listening to that De Gaulle fellow, there were other Free French options available after all. There could be a few awkward moments in the House about all this, or possibly something worse.

I feel bad for the thousands of Indian soldiers sacrificed so that others could escape Sicily.

As for Europe, I'm not too terribly worried about that (it's not like this didn't happen in real life)... but the Allies will definitely need to come up with some better coordinated strategies.

Very nice work in North Africa and Iran (and possibly West Africa if the coup (oops liberation) goes well.

The news from the eastern front is brilliant, the Germans haven't pushed nearly far enough to do any good. Look at the south they haven't even took Crimea!

A great shame so many bits of the French empire didn't want Tom serve under de Gaulle. Still, good that you have events and such to get them back with some effort.
It's funny to see Britian helping out in the only way it knows how:
"You lost an empire? That's terrible! Here, have another one in the Middle East. It's next to communists, but you can work sound that right?"

Time will tell how 'free' this France will be.

Excellent. Throw away the key on these filthy collaborators.

The big one: let’s hope the Soviets can withstand the onslaught.
Red Army defeated Finnish forces along its border. Red Army is currently closing towards Helsinki.
That is very good news, at least.

Huzzah! That is a theatre Free France can handle, at least.
German advance slowed down considerably with the onset of Russian winter.
Good. Though it may not be enough ...

Started to reclaim the French Empire. Still got a fair bit to go of course. I suppose after West Africa it is Madagascar? And how are resistence efforts in France itself going?

Handing France the entire Middle Eastern oil supply (Saudi had nothing till post-WW2 really). There is no way this will go horribly, catastrophically wrong and come back to bite Britain.

On the plus side, the Eastern Front meat grinder is now in operation. This is only a plus for everyone who isn't Axis or Soviet obviously, but it will make returning to Europe a great deal easier once all the Germans have frozen to death or swamped by a human wave attack.

It might. De Gaulle was not known for diplomatic nicety and having the french take the fall for Britain's rampant empire building in the middle east and africa makes a lot of sense. Remember the French provided some puff to get into these places but the british are pulling the strings.

Basically it could go either way, but so often in these HOI you see the British AI being quite machevalian in its politics, and let down by miltiary incompetence (see Talking Turkey).

Are you going to keep Iran, or set up a puppet, or...?

Its a shame that this AAR is not continued. Great work so far, looking forward to your next AAR!
