This event can be alongside, or an alternative possible chain to the Sublight probes event. It's also similar in some ways to the Commonwealth of Man chain.

My idea is that your species - before discovering FTL - launched an Ark to a possible habitable planet, and now you need to find out where they went. This won't be for all species, but it could have a good chance of firing.

The outcomes would be as follows:
  • The colony was a success and has made its own interstellar empire. Relations with you will be cordial, but depending on how they ended up governance or ethics-wise, they may or may not be very diplomatic.
  • The colony was a success, they ended up on a [Insert your world type here] planet, but they reverted back to [Insert primitive technological period here]. If you invade this world, an event chain will start as you make contact with them again. There can also be a planetary modifier "First Interstellar colony" giving a bonus to society research and unity.
  • The colony was a success, they ended up on a [Unideal world], but they reverted back to [Insert primitive technological period here]. If you invade this world, an event chain will start as you make contact with them again. There can also be a planetary modifier "First Interstellar colony" giving a bonus to society research and unity.
  • The colony was a failure, they ended up on an ideal or unideal world, but they got wiped out some time after founding it. The planet has a couple planetary features, of things they built before they died, and the planet will get a modifier "Failed interstellar colony" giving a bonus to society research, and you can build a monument building on this world, that gives unity and society research.
In both cases of invading the primitive versions of these colonies, instead of getting the culture shock modifier, they'll get a different one that gives them bonus happiness and resource output for a time, since they were found. Their tech level will not be below the late Renaissance age, and can be all the way to Space Age.

Given the announcement of Lost Colony for Federations, do any of you see this idea still working? If you have lost colony, it likely shouldn't fire. But if you have any other origins, I could see this as adding potential negative events for them, or finding another Empire of your species in the galaxy. it could even be expanded for UNE/CoM, where you find a failed colony.

But I am happy that something like this will be in the game.
