Political Position: Center-Right to Right-Wing
Ideology:
Traditional Conservatism, One-Nation Conservatism, Liberal Conservatism, National Liberalism, Fiscal Conservatism, Green Conservatism, Conservative Unionism, Conservative Autonomism
Leader: Talfryn Ryley

The Conservative Party is the oldest electoral faction in the British Empire; the direct inheritor of the antiquated Tory legacy. It has been the ideological foundation of many conservative variants, but is present an amalgamation of traditionalists, moderate pragmatists, and fiscal conservatives. After five years in power, the Conservative Party is seeking another mandate to continue Britain’s economic recovery, to bring lasting economic growth, and to restore peace to Northern Ireland.

Foreign and Colonial Policy:

Contrary to the shameful track-record of the Labour Party, the Conservative Party will not surrender Britain’s international responsibility and stature. Henceforth, a Conservative Government will exert strong leadership on the international scene to foster peaceful resolutions of conflicts. Under the Conservative Party, the damages inflicted by the Monaghan Ministry to the close relation between Britain and the United States of America have been mended. The continuation of this highly strategic and favourable friendship will remain a priority.

The Conservative Party continues to support the legitimate and independent State of Israel, and will defend it from the destructive whims of a Labour Party which has openly derided Israel's right to statehood in the past. The Conservative Party, which ended the United Kingdom’s estrangement with Israel through diplomacy, will ensure that the Holy Land has stable long term borders, and establish a long-term settlement between Israel and Palestine by supporting both as legitimate nation-states with friendly relations.

Naturally, the Conservative Party wishes to see further cooperation with Europe, the United States, the Commonwealth, and the UN. It continues to support the Common European Market as well as further agreements with Western Europe. Similar agreements with Commonwealth states are encouraged.

The Conservative Party has entered Britain into the EEC, bringing us into the heart of European politics. We will continue to assert our position as a European leader, and ensure all further deals with Europe protect our integrity as a nation-state whilst also creating strong links with our friends across the channel.

Economic and Industrial Policies:

The Conservative Party believes that capital and wealth do not belong in the hands of overbearing state institutions, but in the hands of those whom worked hard for it. We will continue to oppose any attempts to radically redistribute wealth through government action.

The Conservative Party believes strongly in the idea of a market economy in which individuals are allowed the freedom of opportunity. We believe in the need for a strong private sector combined with a healthy public sector, as to ensure that robust economic growth can take place.

The Conservative Party believes that a strong agricultural sector is imperative to British self-sufficiency, and intends to establish a seed bank and crop encouragement programme throughout the United Kingdom.

The Conservative Party believes that industrial subsidies for unsustainable industries have played a significant role in distorting the market, as these unsustainable industries neither profit the consumers, who have to pay higher taxes to maintain those unsustainable industries, nor the employees who lack real options for promotion in such hierarchically limited industries. Additionally, it must also be noted that, under the prior ministry, subsidies had ballooned and since then have become an even heavier burden upon both the economy and the budget. Because of this, it is the Conservative Party's intent to gradually phase out subsidization, while providing training and assistance in job-seeking to employees who will require a new place of employment.

We also believe in balancing the rights of both workers and of management, such as exemplified by the Bill of Labour Rights of 1969. The Conservative Party thoroughly rejects the idea of class warfare. We believe that Britain will be better through continued cooperation, rather than through bitter division and one-sided policies.

The Conservative Party is adamantly opposed to the oligarchization of private rights advocacy groups under the leadership of a few unelected officials, and it believes that these groups should first and foremost serve the broader British public in their actions, with voting being mandated for all full members of any such organizations.

The Conservative Party believes strongly that Britons knows best what to do with their hard-earned money. That is why, once the economy has stabilized and a surplus realized, emergency measures will be discontinued and a Conservative Government will gradually reduce taxes on all income classes, in respect with the country's finances while reining in spending.

Social Policies:

The Conservative Party believes that Britons seek moderation and respite from the intense societal upheavals brought by Labour in the past decade. With this in mind, a Conservative government will continue to put forward practical policies to ensure Britain moves along with her era.

While immigration to the United Kingdom has not yet reached disturbingly high levels, the Conservative Party is concerned by the unlimited flow of immigration to this country. A Conservative Government will work to protect our British identity, culture and way of life, as well as the employment and livelihoods of British citizens. As such, it shall take measures to ensure that Britain’s borders are open only to those who are prepared to contribute to our prosperity and our community. Immigrants from outside the EEC who are unemployed or earning less than £2,000 per year, and who are not married to a British citizen, will lose their status to remain in the country after three months. In order to be eligible for British citizenship, an immigrant must have been permanently domiciled in the United Kingdom for 15 years without interruption, earning at least £2,000 per year and married to a British citizen.

The Conservative Party sees the unbridled expansion of unsustainable social policies as a threat to the welfare of all Britons and the betrayal of the common person’s hopes and aspirations. For social policies to be beneficial, they must be thoroughly thought out and implemented with moderation while keeping the finances of the State in positive territory, a key element of sustainability. Therefore, the Conservative Party will aim at keeping the current level of social programs while working to ensure their sustainability.

The Conservative Party values highly the education of our youth. In order to ensure the highest standards of education, a Conservative Government will raise the requirements for prospective teachers and will introduce a requirement for continuing formation for all teachers. The Conservative Party will also continue the implementation of work-study programs, so vital to student’s first experience in the workplace. In order to tackle school drop-out rates, a Conservative Government will also hire more resources teachers to better help our children in need, specifically in the critical firsts years of scholarization.

Conscious that we are competing in a brain-driven economy, a Conservative government will also periodically review the educational curriculum to ensure greater emphasis on economics, technology and job-market driven skills.

The Conservative Party believes in a fair and just society for all Britons. Which is why we must, as a society, care for the most vulnerable of our citizens. Recent reports on the living conditions in mental-health establishments have highlighted a need for a thorough and humane reform based on medical best practices. A Conservative Government will ensure that a reform is brought to ensure the wellbeing of those vulnerable patients.

The National Health Service is a foundational to Britain’s social policies. The Conservative Party believes strongly in the NHS and will strive to ensure that all the publics subsidies to the NHS are spent in the most efficient way. Any sums saved by optimisation measures in the health-system will serve to ensure the current levels of service within the NHS.

The sharp rise in crime rates over the last decade shows the necessity for further reform of our Criminal Justice System. It is the intent of the Conservative Party to implement the suggestions of the Cameron Committee on criminal justice reform, seeking harsher punishment for violent crimes as a deterrent to potential criminals.

The Conservative Party believes that a strong culture is intrinsic to the British national identity, and will work to encourage the continued role of literature, filmmaking, and theatre in the cultural sphere via grants aimed at leading a cultural recovery in the wake of stagflation.

Other Policies:

The Conservative Party favours a stronger military, and will not significantly undercut this vital institution. In these times, when international conflict has become more likely than ever, we need to maintain our military instead of taking away Britain's first line of defence.

The Conservative Party believes that it is time to revitalize and modernize the British Navy, which has been an instrument of strength and glory for Britain through all ages. In order to better adapt the Navy to the changing nature of Britain’s commitment worldwide, a shipbuilding program will be enacted to equip our naval forces with the most up to date ships available. Meanwhile, numerous older ships, near the end of their useful life, will be decommissioned.

The Conservative Party affirms its desire for the United Kingdom to remain a solid, strong union of the home nations. It shall oppose separatism at every turn, stem and revert the flow of power away from Parliament towards regional party bosses with new legislation, and ensure that London shall remain the true capital of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, whole and indivisible.

The Conservative Party is firm in its determination to see order restored to Northern Ireland, public and private property protected and social tensions between Catholics and Protestants appeased in a constructive way. The Conservative Party will complete the reformation of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and return it under the control of the Stormont legislature by 1977, in compliance with the Police Reform Act of 1972. Moreover, the British Armed Forces shall be deployed in Northern Ireland to monitor and protect public installations that might be vulnerable to terrorist attack, such as train stations, seaports and airports.

The recent increase in terrorism on Britain’s home soil calls for tougher anti-terrorism laws. A Conservative Government will ensure that our police forces have the necessary power to track, arrest and prosecute those who seeks to destroy our way of life. A special anti-terrorism police unit with be created to that effect. Moreover, special safety measures will be proposed to ensure greater security in airplanes.

Britain’s membership in the European Economic Community will depend on the continuing assent of Parliament, and a Conservative Parliament would continue to give that assent subject to certain assurances. Within the EEC, the Conservative Party shall fight for the freedom of movement to be confined to workers exclusively, and shall petition the Commission to have immigration policy removed from the oversight of the European Court of Justice.

Political Position: Left-Wing
Ideologies: Trotskyist Socialism, Democratic Socialism, Social Democracy, Democratic Syndicalism
Leader: Roland Carpenter

Preamble:

For the past five the Conservative Government has provided only weak leadership, and anti-working class policies. The first acts of the Government drove up inflation, hurting those Britons who are poor and middle class, while only benefiting the rich. The deficit exploded, and the Government had little to show for it. When it did move to bring down the rampant inflation it had caused, after Labour had made a major issue on it, it did so by massively increasing the taxes on those who could afford them the least, the poor. While the poor suffered, the Government also cut the Military, and worse, the National Health Service.

Under a Labour Government, the poor would not foot the Government’s bill. The NHS would be able to serve all. The Civil Service would have the funding it needs to serve the country to the best of its ability. Instead the rich would pay their fair share, and the Government would pass policies that actually worked to help lives, and were not just passive tax breaks.

The Government has failed to provide any leadership or decisive policy in response to terrorism and conflict in North Ireland. Any initiative that has been taken has been by the Home Secretary, whose policies have often been too little, too late. Meanwhile backbenchers in its own Party seek to undermine any actions the Prime Minister takes, pushing for martial law that would only lead to further escalation in the conflict, and trample on long established rights of British Citizens. The Prime Minister spends more time failing to deal with his own Party’s revolts than governing.

Under a Labour Government, the legitimate grievances of the Catholic North Irish population will be addressed fairly, while those who would seek to sow death and terror will be hunted down with the full force of British law. Labour seeks only a return to peace in North Ireland, and with systems that ensure fair and equal freedoms for both Protestant and Catholic North Irish.

Economic and Labour Policy:

Labour recognizes the need for reform in the way relations are conducted between businesses and their employees, and thus promotes policies to ensure economic prosperity without sacrificing economic justice. Labour does not believe it just to accept a society where those with more wealth and power can use institutional means to lord it over those with less. Thus, Labour believes in an egalitarian and democratic distribution of wealth, as provided for by tax policy, social policy and corporate ownership policy. Labour will strive to further increase the protections working people have available to them as well as increasing their power to utilize those protections in practice.

Conservative economics have devastated the wealth of the working class while creating massive inflation. Labour proposes reversing this disaster, as well as adding to the wealth of the working and middle classes, through a combined program of tax raises primarily on the upper class, nationalizing the energy and shipbuilding industries to keep costs down in industrial sectors, and creating a national pension fund for workers to help offset contractionary effects and enable wealth redistribution.

Labour will seek to make Britain solvent again by closing tax loopholes and ending the structure of corporate incentives that have both not increased industrial growth and damaged the British economy through extremely high inflation.

Labour seeks to increase middle class involvement in the economy and ensure that the economic justice can be done to all. Labour recognizes the importance of all parts of the productive classes including those tasked with management, allocation and design.

Labour recognizes the following as intrinsic rights of the working people: regulation of the hours of work, including the establishment of a maximum working day and week; the regulation of the labour supply; the prevention of unemployment; the provision of an adequate living wage; the protection of the worker against sickness, disease and injury arising out of their employment; the protection of children, young persons and women; provision for old age and injury; and recognition of the principle of equal remuneration for work of equal value, as well as the principle of freedom of association, organisation and articulation of grievances.

Labour will provide more positions for engineers, clerks and other middle-class jobs that augment our newly empowered and energized working class by allowing for innovation and adoption of new technology while still protecting the democratic economic rights of the working class.

Labour advocates for creating centers of innovation with specialized production incentives and regulation to return Britain to its place of prominence as a financial, technological and industrial center of the world.

Labour advocates for the adoption of a citizen's salary implemented as a negative income tax, where a block grant of money will be granted to all British citizens as a means to consolidate, integrate and advance welfare and unemployment subsidies.

Labour recognizes the critical importance of the labour movement, as represented in worker's unions, in the fight for economic justice. Under a Labour government, the rights of the worker to organize and negotiate with management shall not be abridged. Labour shall overturn the Toryist rollback of the provisions of the Bill of Labour Rights and re-institute full protection under the law for the British working class.

Labour shall expand access to credit and financial services to the working class and lower-middle class by enacting a modified version of the Worker Share Management and Societies Act.

Labour shall integrate the conventions of the International Labour Organisation into statutory law, so as to constitutionally enshrine workers’ rights to associate and articulate their concerns, to fair and equal pay, labour inspection and standards, and the abolition of indentured labour and discrimination on the basis of race, creed or sex.

Labour shall invest heavily in infrastructure, public transport and communications.

Labour will institute a system of expansion grants for successful industries to reward production and help increase employment.

Labour shall increase welfare benefits, including pensions for the elderly and unemployed, to ensure security of livelihood for all.

Social Policy:

Labour have always fought against injustices in British society. In government we will work towards creating a fairer, more humane Britain. Under Monaghan, Labour has made illegal all forms of racial and sexual discrimination in the workplace, abolished our archaic system of media censorship, and abolished our regressive and inhumane systems of capital punishment, and we seek to reinstate the ban capital punishment. Labour will continue in this spirit to ensure personal freedom for all.

Labour shall strive to break down barriers still present in the public and private sectors to female advancement, and calls for mandating greater female representation at the management and executive levels as well as government ministries.

Labour will streamline government and the civil service to ensure greater efficiency and better government. All members of parliament, employees of the civil service and employees of the government will also be obliged to disclose and register all financial interests so as to bring greater transparency to your government.

Labour will work towards a new deal for the school leaver, recognising that too many of our young people are leaving school at 15 unqualified and unable to work. The minimum school leaving age will be raised to 16 and a review of the education system will be conducted to ensure our children are receiving the highest standard of teaching possible. By the 1970s we hope it will be normal, not exceptional, for all young people to be in some form of education until the age of 18.

To bring learning opportunities to all, Labour will also establish an Open University, bringing top-class courses and teaching to everyone by television, radio and community facilities.

Labour will also take action to implement the findings of the Robbins report and expand the university system so that more people than ever can take advantage of higher education.

We recognise the need to keep our streets safe at a time of rising crime rates and falling police numbers. Far from addressing this urgent problem, the Conservative government has passed piecemeal legislation that makes changes without addressing the core problems of low numbers and poor equipment.

Labour believes there is an urgent need for police reform and will act immediately to stop the drop in numbers of policemen and women patrolling our streets. Then we will review the police force to create a modern and efficient system, with fewer, larger forces around the country using the most scientifically advanced equipment available. We believe that the focus should be on fighting crime, not inefficiency.

More widely, Labour will also engage in a review of the prison system, especially for juvenile offenders. A Labour government will work tirelessly to bring our judicial system into the modern world.

Labour also recognizes the need to support Britain's proud artistic tradition and will increase funding to the Arts Council.

Foreign Policy:

Labour remains committed in keeping the United Kingdom as a positive influence in the world. We are committed to a military that is worth its cost. We will work with the United Nations, the European community, NATO, and the United States in preserving international peace. We also remain committed to a strong Commonwealth. Above all, Labour is committed to solving global problems with peaceful solutions.

Labour is committed to a military that is efficient. We will cut unnecessary defense spending. We do this as we understand that the military, unlike when Britain controlled a quarter of the globe, is no longer the most powerful tool the nation has to solve problems. Far more important is our economy, our diplomatic connections and our relationship with the UN and other such organisations working for peace. Nor will we waste British lives in the process.

Labour remains committed to the United Nations, and to our allies. A stronger United Nations will help solve international issues, and give all nations a voice on the world stage. We will also continue to work with our friends in the United States, and with our other NATO allies in Europe, to ensure global stability and European peace. The world can only be safe as long as the NATO nations work together as equal partners for peace. We decided to not cross our Turkish or American allies in Cyprus, preferring peace to war with friends. We have also maintained a relationship with the Americans, despite the war in Burma. We also seek closer relations with our allies on the continent, especially the French and West Germans.

Labour is committed to a strong Commonwealth. A strong Commonwealth is vital for international peace as an example of how friendly nations can work together for security and prosperity. Furthermore, a strong Commonwealth allows valuable trade and the freedom of travel that is vital to a growing British economy. Labour will not neglect the Commonwealth as the Conservatives have whilst in power, and will support it in all possible ways.

Above all, Labour is committed to solving global issues peacefully using the diplomatic and economic power of the United Kingdom. This is not a ‘pie in the sky’ dream. Spain was saved from communist tyranny after a successful, peaceful British-led intervention. We also did not get dragged into a quagmire of the war in Burma, instead providing our American allies the financial and material assistance they needed for the war. Labour has proven that it can solve great issues peacefully, and we will continue to do this.

Northern Ireland:

The Labour Party is committed to restoring peace and just governance to Northern Ireland. The Labour Party supports vigorous reform to the Royal Ulster Constabulary in order to establish a true community policing force in Northern Ireland that represents the community in which they patrol.

The Labour Party will enact strict reform to the Stormont government and ensure that all issues of gerrymandering, election rigging, and systematic repression of political views of any kind are abolished.

The Labour Party fully opposes any imposition of martial law in Northern Ireland or a military intervention in Northern Ireland. Military involvement in this domestic issue would cause more death, prolong violence, and give terrorists a propaganda tool to continue their fight against law and order.

Leader: Ewan Willison

The Rebirth of Scottish Nationalism

It is far beyond the time for the Scottish National Party to make a proper return to Parliament. As parties across Great Britain attempt to make the claim that they are the party for Scotland, the SNP must rise to greater standing to ensure that the Scottish people are represented by a party of their own land and of their own people. It is the position of the SNP that Tory or Labour nor Liberal will properly serve the good people of Scotland. The by-election victory of Winnie Ewing's in '67 saw the return of the Scottish Nationalism to Parliament and now the party sees that Scotland is desperate for proper representation. In the best interests of the Scottish people, the SNP begins its rebirth, with a re-prioritization of prior policies, which are now presented to YOU, Citizens of Scotland!

New Priorities

The SNP stands by its solemn stance of seeking home rule for the Scottish Nation.
Nevertheless, and above all else, the SNP stands for the achievement of electing representatives who can properly represent Scotland in every constituency of Scotland. It is the revised stance of the Scottish National Party that the achievement of "political independence" through a united SNP Scotland supersedes the goal of home rule.

The Scottish National Party is, by principle, a party of the Centre-Left and of Social Democracy, but the Party aims to serve all of Scotland and therefore reserves a stance of Independence and Political Fluidity on decisive matters.

The Economy

In affirmation of a Social Democratic stance, the SNP believes firmly in the intervention of government into the free market when necessary for the purposes of economic stability and good economic health. The SNP fights for and stands for, the rights of the Scottish worker; his right to the safe workplace, to job security, and his right to unionize. The SNP stands for the moderation of free trade in understanding the needs of both business and the working populace.

On Scotland's Place

While standing for political independence and seeking the goal of home rule, the Scottish National Party is not a party of isolationism. The SNP understands Scotland's current status as a member of this United Kingdom and seeks not to serve as an obstructionist political entity. Rather, at the present the SNP stands for the improvement of the stature and status of the Scotland within this United Kingdom. Among further goals, the SNP seeks the advancement of Scottish culture, the expanded role and autonomy of the Scottish nation, and the establishment of an autonomous Scottish parliamentary and governmental body.

Foreign Policy
In insisting upon a party that rejects isolationism, the SNP supports the international participation of the United Kingdom in organizations including, but not exclusive to the United Nations, NATO, and the "Euro-zone". Political Position: Left-wing
Ideologies: Democratic Socialism, Republicanism, Nationalism, Social Democracy
Leader: Lorcan Callaghan

Preamble:

The Social Democratic and Labour Party is committed to the advancement of all people within Northern Ireland along the lines of socialist development. The SDLP is determined to defend the legacy of Attlee and to advance the socialist cause along the lines of public ownership of utilities, defence of the NHS, etc. Furthermore, the SDLP is determined to fight in Westminster and Stormont for reform to the current devolution structure with the goal of a more fair and representative devolved government. Never should Northern Ireland be ruled directly by Westminster. The ultimate goal of the Social Democratic and Labour Party is the culmination of the republican cause and the union of all of Ireland under one Republic of Ireland.

Economic and Labour Policy:

Recognizing the realities of economic oppression in Northern Ireland and across the United Kingdom the Social Democratic and Labour Party supports measures designed to redistribute wealth, property, and economic power in an equitable and democratic way. The SDLP supports measures that support industry and maintain jobs in Northern Ireland. The SDLP supports a nationally enforced living wage. The SDLP supports infrastructure spending in order to stimulate the economy and assist in the building of businesses and middle class jobs. The SDLP supports trade unions as the most effective way to advance the goals of the working class and we support the rights of collective bargaining and the right to strike. The SDLP opposes any regulation on striking by the government of the United Kingdom in Westminster and Northern Ireland in Stormont. The Social Democratic and Labour Party recognizes the danger of free trade to the jobs of Irish workers who often work in factories and industries that may be outsourced to cheaper European countries and who may be outcompeted by European countries, therefore the SDLP opposes the UK’s inclusion in the European Economic Zone. The Party supports an increase in NHS spending. The SDLP supports the reform of agricultural subsidies to favor small farmers and will maintain a protectionist policy that favors domestic food production.

Social Policy:

The Social Democratic and Labour Party fully supports devolution and the encouragement of local languages, particularly Irish. The SDLP supports accommodating in education, government, and economic life people who only speak Irish. The SDLP supports the expansion of all Irish education and demands that all public documents and signs be in both English and Irish.

The Social Democratic and Labour Party supports the expansion of public education to the age of 18 for all people and the establishment of a system of public grants to high performing students of lower economic status in order to attend university.

The Social Democratic and Labour Party firmly opposes the implementation of martial law in the Six Counties and any military intervention by the British or Irish armies in the Six Counties on any scale. Military occupation by the United Kingdom would only inflame tensions and prevent a credible path to peace from being established. The only path to peace is complete reform of the entire devolution scheme of Northern Ireland, an end to the discriminatory practices of all facets of Northern Ireland's government, and a rehabilitation of Catholic/Protestant relations. Furthermore, the SDLP supports the establishment of community policing in the Six Counties.

Foreign Policy:

The Social Democratic and Labour Party opposes membership in any international body aside from the United Nations. This includes the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as this alliance makes its member states a pawn of the United States of America and subjects it to needless conflict on the global scale. This also includes the European Economic Zone, as this trade organization is a threat to Irish jobs from competition in French and West German industry. The industry of Northern Ireland must be fully protect from threats foreign and domestic. However, the Social Democratic and Labour Party supports increased trade and diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Some measure of freedom of movement and goods between these states would facilitate economic growth and political stability on the island of Ireland.

Minor(er) Parties:

Plaid Cmyru: the largest Welsh nationalist party, endorsing the encouragement of the ancient customs and language and separation from the United Kingdom.

While campaigning in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, the Home Secretary and candidate for the Ulster Unionist Party in the constituency of South Antrim was answering questions from reporters.

Reporter: Mr. Fitzpatrick. Your party has come under very harsh criticism by the Labour Party over the various fiscal incentives granted to corporations over the past five years? Given the lack of results of these measures, do you still believe it was the right call?

Fitzpatrick: Well I don't share your assertion that these measures were fruitless. I am sure the workers at the Dacca Radar Plant in Belfast will agree with me. We restored a degree of competitiveness in Britain's fiscality following the greatest act of industrial sabotage this nation has ever witnessed.

Reporter: The Labour Party calls for the abolition of these incentives. What do you make of that?

Fitzpatrick: Once again, the Labour Party is out-of-touch. I don't know what Roland Carpenter was busy with last year in Parliament, but we adopted the Economic Revitalization Expiration Act, which effectively put an end to these incentive measures as of next year. Guess what, Mr. Carpenter and his party voted against this Bill. Britons should be worried about the complete incoherence between Labour's policies and their votes in Parliament. It is either gross incompetence on Mr. Carpenter's behalf or worse, they might not read the bills they are voting on.

Waving away the reporters, he returned to his campaign, working hard as ever to ensure the return to Westminster of his Unionist colleagues.

PRESS RELEASE

===================================

Criminal Justice: The Home Secretary welcomes the Labour Party adherence to Conservative Reform.

Londonderry, Northern Ireland – Home Secretary and Ulster Unionist Party candidate for the constituency of South Antrim, Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick commented today on the Labour Party Manifesto which proposes to "bring our judicial system into the modern world, especially regarding juvenile offenders".

"I salute today the adherence of the Labour Party to the objectives of our Criminal Justice Reform Act, which was adopted last year. The Ulster Unionist Party and the Conservative Party are both dedicated to the implementation of the Cameron Committee's report on the matter. I look forward to constructive exchanges with the Labour Party on this issue", declared the Home Secretary.

This recent policy tergiversation by the Labour Party comes after the Party's issuance of a two-line-whip against the criminal justice reform last year, which included key provisions called for by the Labour Party.

"While it is true that the Labour Party's coherence on policy issues has long been shattered, I am quite enthused to see that the numerous arguments deployed by our Government in favour of this reform have not been lost on the Labour Party", said Mr. Fitzpatrick.

The Ulster Unionist Party and their Conservative allies have launched a complete overhaul of Britain's criminal justice system and have pledged to the implementation of Lord Cameron's committee report on the matter.

"On Election Day, Britons will have a choice for the principled policies of the Ulster Unionist Party and their Conservative allies, or the base demagoguery and flip-floppery of the Labour Party.", concluded the Home Secretary.

Labour Press Release,
The Labour Party opposed the Government's criminal justice reform for a simple reason. The Labour Party does not support Capital Punishment and was quite proud of the end of its use as a valid criminal punishment. As such, we fiercely opposed its reinstatement, and have stated our intention to re-ban it under a new Labour Government. We do not support the barbarity of some members of the Conservative Party, and believe in rehabilitation over punishment.

Lorcan Callaghan was back in his constituency, giving a town hall speech in the village of Newtonstewart.

Friends, brothers, I am overjoyed to be here among the people I represent in Parliament to talk to you all about the progress the SDLP is making around Northern Ireland and over in Westminster. I have been travelling to almost every constituency in our Six Counties to help SDLP candidates and I have been campaigning around this very constituency. I know all of you know my office's mailing address both in Omagh and in London so I want all of you to know where you can contact me with your concerns. I promise this now that I will reply to any of my constituents if you send a letter to my office in Omagh. Now on to the actual substance. The man who is running against me with the hopes of representing you good folks in Parliament is a member of the Ulster Unionist Party. He is simply a soldier in the ranks for the party so let us take a look at the man who leads it, Mr. Lochlan Fitzpatrick. He is a decent enough man who has helped forward some of the reforms we have seen in the past few years, but he has very many faults. You may have seen him come through this town in 1969, likely crying out about the divisive policies of what was at the time Unity and going on and on about the terrors of the Labour tax rates. Well, Mr. Fitzpatrick has fallen quite far indeed. Those tax rates which were totally unacceptable, tax levels that were bleeding people dry, to the dear leader of the UUP. Well friends in government, the Conservatives raised taxes to a higher rate than they were under Labour! Now I am not totally against taxation, but I support a fair and equitable tax rate that shifts the tax burden away from you good working folks and onto the wealthy. Mr. Fitzpatrick hates taxation for his wealthy English friends when it is being used to pay for the NHS and other essential government services, but he certainly loves to tax you good folks more while simultaneously cutting government services. This is the insidious nature of austerity. The government has placed more economic burden on you while taking away the safety net that protects you. The tax raises are not designed to help you or the good working people of the Six Counties, they are designed to help large business owners.

Now, the SDLP is going to fight for the agricultural strength of the Six Counties and we will prevent the European large scale agricultural production from infesting Northern Ireland with their cheap and poor quality product. You good folks can rest assured that the SDLP will defend the farming tradition of the Six Counties and I vow to you that I will oppose the Tories in their quest to sell the economic independence of Northern Ireland to Europe. I have stood strong in opposition against the Prime Minister as he runs rough shod over the nation, but I will tell you that I have held to my principles. I promised during the 1969 campaign that I would support infrastructure investments to improve the economy of the Six Counties and when the Conservative government put a bill forward to do that I supported it. The fact of the matter is that the only party in Northern Ireland that consistently supports the interests of all Irishmen, working class or middle class, Catholic or Protestant, unionist or republican, is the Social Democratic and Labour Party. If you good folks send me to Westminster I will continue my holy fight to protect the Irish people, to defend our economic independence and prosperity, and to fight for the republican ideals that we have been raised with. Vote SDLP for a socialist, agrarian alternative to unionist oligarchy! Vote SDLP for an Ireland for all!

(Pictured above: Front cover of the 1974 Campaign Biography of Talfryn Ryley)

In the 1974 General Election, the Conservative Party, faced with the very serious possibility of a hung parliament, decided to escalate their efforts. One of the many things the Conservative campaign did to reel in voters was to improve the image of the Prime Minister. At the suggestion of the former Chancellor Clarence Abel, the Conservative campaign began work on a biography of Talfryn Ryley to distribute to the public.

The campaign biography, twenty six pages long, told the story of Ryley from his adolescence right up to the present. His first days as an MP, fighting against Prime Minister Bennett on protecting the environment at a time when few politicians took notice of it. His daring candidacy for the leadership which resulted in a shocking upset of a former Chancellor. His bold opposition to the disastrous policies of the Monaghan administration as Comrade IDA tore the nation apart. His csteering Britain through the storm of stagflation and a burgeoning national debt. To say the least the biography was certainly not intended to be a scholarly work, but a means of drumming up support for the party and enhancing Ryley's image among the electorate.

The biography was distributed to newspapers and radio shows as well as being provided to local book stores across the country although mostly in marginal constituencies. It's estimated that the Conservative Party distributed around 100,000-200,000 copies of the biography for free during the election. However, many more had access to the biography with radio shows often during readings of excerpts or even the entire book. The book cover, a picture of Ryley staring out boldly into the distance, with the title emblazoned on the top, shows no author. Although many years after it was made public that Clarence Abel was among the main contributor to the biography after revealing it in his memoirs.

Radio shows and television hosts often fixated on one passage about Ryley's youth. In it, a group of school bullies are beating up on a little child. Ryley, seeing this attack, steps in.

Going Against The Grain: The Talfryn Ryley Story said:
...Seeing the poor little boy getting stomped struck a chord in Talfryn. He immediately marched on over to the bullies, and planting his feet firmly in the dust he shouted "How about you pick on somebody your own size!" The bullies jumped at the confidence exuded by Talfryn. His eyes told them that he meant business. One bully decided to test the knight's resolve.

A rock was hurled past Talfryn, landing a few inches away from him. The bullies were stunned. He had not batted an eye nor moved a muscle. The gang's ringleader promptly turned around and motioned them to get out of here. They bolted away...

Ulster Unionist Party Rally

Back in his home constituency of South Antrim, the Home Secretary was enthralling a large crowd of 500 supporters. While the apprehension were high at the beginning of the campaign, the policies put forward in the Conservative Manifesto has really cemented support for the Ulster Unionists in the recent days. Likewise, the level of activity from the SDLP had galvanized the Unionists supporters, given the republican views of the SDLP leader, Lorcan Callaghan, colloquially nicknamed Mr. Dublin among the crowd.

"My friends, my kinsmen and my dear constituents.

What an electoral campaign we have! I have been to every corner of our fair Ulster and I can tell you that I sense a great enthusiasm for the Ulster Unionist Party and for our policies.

In hamlets, villages, towns and cities all over Northern Ireland, I have been overwhelmed by the strong desire of Ulstermen for action. I can tell you that for all the shouting you hear from Mr. Callaghan, who seems to be campaigning exclusively in pubs and churches, there is not much success on the ground. People listen, people drinks, and then they think about what Mr. Callaghan would do to their fair Ulster.

You see, we Ulster Unionist are true reformers. We rise above those who would seek to use home-grown terrorism to promote radical reforms, which are not in phase with the desires of the population. I denounce these politics of fear by Mr. Callaghan, who would lead you to believe that there is no other solutions to this crisis that to hand the keys to our society to a violent minority group, who are by the way not supported by the vast majority of our Catholic brothers and sisters currently under their iron boot.

The Ulster Unionist Party has put forward progressive policies, which had led to further containment of the violence and certainly avoided any escalation. We have thoroughly reformed and retrained our police forces, and we will, if elected, put forward new legislation to tackle terrorism, create a special counterterrorism intervention unit as well as deploy a minimal amount of military troops to ensure the security of vital public installations who could prove tempting targets to the bombs of these villains.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party and their allies are five years behind. It is quite a recurrent theme but the Labour Party is so terribly intellectually bankrupt that it must look to its SDLP brother for glimpses of creative thinking.

You know, I am starting to understand how difficult Mr. Callaghan's balancing act is. Given the absence of original thinking by the Labour Party, even the SDLP can figure out that the road to political survival lies in distancing itself from their Labour brethren.

In the next few days, you will certainly hear from our friends of the left pitiful cries of military occupation. It is quite surprising, and frankly shameful, that we hear nothing but silence toward the real military occupation of our communities by the Irish Republican Army. I call on Mr. Callaghan to denounce loudly and clearly the occupation of our communities by those terrorist groups. Any less would disqualify him from the very office he seeks re-election to.

On Election Day, vote for stability, vote for sound policy and vote for a more secure, safe and prosperous Northern Ireland. Vote Ulster Unionist Party!"

Hornesby heads to Sheffield where he gives yet another speech at a town hall event.

I welcome all who have come!

I've come here today to talk to you about a favorite topic of mine, the Labour Party. This is a party which has been rallying hard against this government yet has opposed measures presented by this government which it has called for in its manifesto. For example, the Labour Party calls for investment in infrastructure yet it overwhelming voted against the Trade Infrastructure Development Act, which did just that. They also opposed the Education Reform Act of 1971, which, among other things, raised the minimum school age to 16, yet they call for that in their manifesto. And yet again, they voted against the Economic Revitalization Expiration Act despite the fact that they are now calling on an end to the tax incentives provided by this government to encourage businesses to return, which this act set the end date for. Now, I have to tell you right now that something is very wrong here. Why has the Labour Party been voting against things they support? Well, I think the answer is very simple, Labour puts politics ahead of what is right for the British people. They only voted against these acts because we proposed them and they couldn't be seen to support us. They didn't care that these were the right things to do, they voted against them anyway. So how are you supposed to trust the Labour Party to fight for you when they have shown how hypocritical they are when it comes to things they support? Why, I even remember the Leader of the Opposition accusing us of stealing Labour's idea to raise interest rates in order to reduce inflation and yet Labour refutes this idea now and calls on other measures to reduce inflation. They've even gone so far as to deny that we have, in fact, lowered inflation and are calling it a problem we caused, when it actually began to rise under Monaghan's government. How much more of Labour's hypocrisy can we take? How many more of their lies will we listen to before we do something about them? The Labour Party is a party that the British people simply cannot trust to lead this nation, not when it flip-flops on its positions when politically convenient to do so and is willing to throw its own supporters under the bus in the name of politics. I say right now that if these things worry you then you should vote for the only party you can trust, the Conservative Party.

The Conservative Party is a party of principle. We do not flip-flop when it is convenient to do so. Yes, I know, you may ask about the Prime Minister's NI policy. Well, I'll tell you right now, that the Prime Minister is only responding to the terrorist threat posed by the IRA, which attempted to blow up an MP for speaking out against them. And it is not like he is sending troops into Catholic neighborhoods to police them in lieu of the actual police force. No, he is only send in the army to protect public places from terrorist attacks. I think that is a sensible policy that aims to protect the people of Northern Ireland without inflaming tensions any further. But other than this, the government has stood up to its principle of fiscal responsibility. We have successfully reduced inflation, which is still going down as I speak. We have successfully reduced the deficit and balanced the budget. Outside of the fiscal aspect of this, we have successfully reduced unemployment, which was stubbornly high following the Monaghan government's attempt to annihilate the private sector. This government has stood on the goals it campaigned on and has had success. But that is not to say that the work is done. It is not, in fact, it is far from over. That is why it is important that you support the Conservative Party and allow us to continue our economic recovery from the disaster that was the previous Labour government. It is too risky to put Britain in the hands of an unprincipled, untrustworthy, incompetent, and weak party like Labour at a time like this. No, we need proven leadership and only the Conservative Party that can provide that. Prime Minister Ryley has led Britain through a difficult period and he has done so with the same pragmatism and sensibility that he campaigned on five years ago. So far it has proved fruitful and Britain now sees itself finally recovering from the economic problems created by Labour and Comrade IDA. So I'm now asking you to let us continue what we have started, to stand united with us for a future that we all can believe in. I'm asking you to vote for the only party that has proven itself able to lead Britain, that stands up for its supporters and for all Britons, even those who do not vote for it. I'm asking you to vote for the Conservative Party and help us move Britain forward to prosperity, security, and unity.

Vote for a party you can trust! Vote for a party that has proven leadership! Vote Conservative!

~ Arthur Hornesby, Conservative Candidate for Hertford & Stevenage, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and President of the Board of Trade

Maidstone, Kent, England
Conservative Party Rally

After a tiresome day back in the capital for security briefings and to oversee the numerous police deployment for the security of campaigning MPs and government ministers, the Home Secretary was driven to Maidstone, Kent, for a Conservative rally in favour of the local Conservative candidate, John Julius Wells, a fellow soldiers which fought with the Navy during World War II.

After numerous handshakes and accolades, he was quickly on the rostrum, addressing the crowd.

"Good people of Maidstone. My name is Lochlan G. Fitzpatrick and as you may certainly know, I am the Home Secretary and the very proud outgoing MP for South Antrim in Northern Ireland.

I am indeed quite fare from my beloved constituency, but I couldn't miss this rally for a man of great virtue and valor, a soldier who fought for our liberties and our way of life, a true principled Briton who has served you in Parliament for many years, Mr. John Julius Wells.

Now John asked me to speak to you tonight about our policy ideas put forward during this election. While some of you would expect me to discuss our security proposals, I would like to bring awareness to what I believe are the most foundational policies in the manifesto.

As you know, the manifesto is titled as follows: United for the Future. And that future, my friends, is our children. Over the past few years, we have carried the banner of education reform, to ensure that our youth, the leaders of tomorrow, are taught the useful skills they need to succeed on the job market. I must say, we have been fought tooth and nail by the Labour Party over this, but we have succeeded in bringing forward new work-experience programs as well as in raising the minimum school-leaving age at 16.

While other political parties would consider that after these success, the job is done, the Conservative Party is still committed to the betterment of our National Education. This is why we will implement measures aiming that raising the requirements for prospective teachers and ensure also that current teachers have an obligation for continuing formation throughout their careers.

We will also tackle school drop-out rates by hiring more resources teachers to help kids with difficulties early in their schooling, as to ensure they do not develop an aversion to school because of a lack of support. Conscious that we are competing in a brain-driven economy, a Conservative government will also periodically review the educational curriculum to ensure greater emphasis on economics, technology and job-market driven skills.

As you can judge, these policies will do a great deal of good to our education system. I dare to say that the Conservative Party has the best education policy, given that even the Labour Party is now calling for changes we have already implemented."

*Chuckles from the crowd*

"Now, I won't bore you longer. I believe it is clear to you that on Election Day, the real choice is the proven leadership of Talfryn Ryley, John Julius Wells and the Conservative Party! Thank you very much!"

My friends, the NHS is not a partisan institution. It should play no role in the party politics of this nation, but rather be allowed to continue it's great work without the cruel and swinging cuts many other institutions have been subjected to. Alas, this is not the case. The conservative party has plundered the NHS without mercy, and has replied to concerns over these cuts, not with consideration, or the behavious one might expect from a serious parliamentary party, but with arrogance and sneers. The conservative party has shown with it's wild mismanagment of this great nations economy and institution, dressed up as fiscal competance that it is not fit to govern. They talk of comrade IDA, without mentioning Herr Stagflation knocking down the door. It is essential to both the NHS and the country as a whole that today we vote the Conservatives from power, and allow competance to take the reigns.
