1.4 DoD random generic people taking over countries?

Im doing a spectator run and Im looking around on countries to see that random generic people have become leader for no apparent reason. Probably a bug?

I fear it's generally a bug with version 1.4 (aka Oak). I haven't tested it myself, but I can't see anything in the focus OP mentioned that's DoD specific.

I don't understand this logic. How can paradox mess with the generic focus tree like that? Unless it was purposely done so?

I'm thinking somehow for debug purposes someone added that since there is no such thing as a retire country leader console command during development/testing. But you got to wonder how the repo manager signs off merging in this change from whats likely a debug/testing branch into the release branch. Must have had a bad day for sure

Just tested this myself (spectator), and it's happening.

Republican Spain has a generic leader by Jan '37, as does Bulgaria, Guangxi, Xibei, and Saudi Arabia.

As a fix only seems to require the removal of one line of code, this seems like the perfect case for patching-by-Steam. Thank you @Exiled_Noble99 and sinistersaint!

Not sure if you have the same problem but almost every single Chinese leader gets replaced in almost a year. Most of the time with the generic Asian leader provided in the aniversary pack. sorry I can't be of much help.

yes, it's part of the same issue. there is a mod out that resolves this, or just edit the file to remove the line.
