That can only mean you will have to build a navy. but what kind of Navy?

Oh yeah, the snow is pretty bad right now. Im in eastern Massachusetts right now so I know exactly what you are talking about. Take your time and have a good Christmas! If we dont hear from you before then, so be it.
So the weirdest thing is after getting about 15" of snow, it got really warm and all that's left are a few piles of tired looking gray piles. Strange. It's nearly January and it was 55 degrees F yesterday.

If we don't hear from you, we can always end up sending my loyal pet Peti to rescue you.:D
Send the dog anyway! I love dogs! What breed is Peti?

Poland will take a path similar to the german one?
An excellent update.
I wouldn't exactly say I'm following a German path here...I think that will become more evident as time passes. However, since I share the exact same geographical and strategic position as Germany, similarities are bound to arise.

Wow, those Baltic peoples really, really want to know something. Latvia? Preposterous!!! Excellent udate sir, and glad to see your BWA streamlined and into action! :D
It's the weirdest thing isn't it? You'd think with their limited resources they'd have better ways to spend their money than by spying on me. I believe most of these Baltic spies, though, started there from the beginning of the game. I highly doubt they've added many if any at all since 1936. No matter...they've almost been eliminated anyway :)

Danish cookies, om nom nom nom nom... :D
Splendid update, still I hope you won't follow Hitler's footsteps too closely ;)
Yeah...I know where you're coming from. See my comments above to Lascars. I'm not intentionally following a German path per se.

:p Hey you leave my motherland alone! Being occupied by the Germans is one thing, but by the Poles!
Merry Christmas to you too also :p
Sorry Milites. Øresund is just much too strategically important to leave to the Danes. This will be increasingly important as I begin to look towards a Polish Navy. The Baltic makes a nice safe haven. Denmark also has some decent IC relative to the amount of effort it takes to grab it. Don't worry...I'll be nice to them.

Nice progress, tell those Brits where they can stick their demands..
And I think you just single-handedly revolutionized the way AARs are going to be done!
Oh don't you worry...the Brits will get theirs eventually. Extremely kind compliment Merlowe...thanks.

It's so true that the British were so silent during the invasion of Poland blast their eyes ! Another thrilling chapter , rob , and I have to agree , you've revolutionised gameplay AARs forever ! Well done , sir :D
There are so many great AARs on these boards. I'm just happy to be able to share space with everyone else. Things are going to heat up a little in the next update...and I dare say Józef will be getting a new ribbon :D

Glorius levels of detail ad lovely images as usual. Any AAR i would write would be 5000 time worse.
I suspect you could do a lot better than that!

Those little buggers.
I say it is time for Poland to become a naval power.
Good update though, great graphics work as usual.
Anyways, merry Christmas to all the subscribers of this AAR.:)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! :D

There is no canal through Kiel?
Destroyed by the war?
Garrisoning Hitlers hometown? :D
Ehh, yeah of course there's the Kiel canal, but hey, I needed a reasonable excuse to take Denmark. I'd also say that the sheer volume of my shipping through Øresund would overwhelm the Kiel canal...my ships need ROOM!

Actually the Denmark strait is located between Greenland and Iceland ;) That strait is called Øresund, englishified to The Sound
You're absolutely right and I have corrected my last update with the correct name.

Interesting question. Polish naval leaders are pretty poor and their doctrines lend towards Commerce Raiding/submarine warfare. I do enjoy the fun of Battleships and Carriers...so we'll see, I haven't committed myself yet. My main focus right now is the buildup for an invasion of the USSR, but I may begin some research efforts to build a navy...I literally have nothing at all right now.

Well, I'd go for a smaller BC/BB based Navy then.

Just caught up... Oh those naughty Danes! Smoke em! I'd go with trekaddict on this one too. A BC/BB fleet would be awesome, if only for the fact that BC's themselves are awesome!

I was always wondering if a raider fleet utilising BCs for capship combat and CA+CL+DD combo for other operations would do the trick? Since US won't enter the Allies anytime soon and the UK doesn't have to do a normal naval buildup, I think creating a considerable force should be possible once USSR is defeated. :)

The good thing is, that you should recieve a load of naval blueprints (AI is always generous here) from UK and France (and Japan, should you construct your own version of the anti-comintern alliance). Personally, I'd go with Fleet-in-Being, since it provides a balanced fleet (I guess you won't go WCing, so amphibious operations are not a priority), giving conventional warships some nice bonuses.

Down with CVs! :p

EDIT: And as for my nationality... I'm not against Poland grabing European hegemony, I'm against Poland invading and occupying every possible neighbour just because her borders would look nicer ;)

I've got good experience with subs as NatChi.
With similar class of the leaders and 2 mega (30) stacks subs I was able to inflict enough damage to Japanese to turn them to port and keep them there with port strike-ing TACs

BTW I don't know if you moded Boltuc but he's not very good candidate to manually promote. I'd choose guys with good max skill - Anders, Sosnkowski or Sikorski

I'll confess I'm a bit reluctant to go down the BC pathway here...but I do appreciate the roleplaying potential and will consider building a few anyway. BBs, on the other hand, well....YES...who wouldn't love to see some nasty Polish BBs roaming the oceans :)

Do share more on your love of BCs...I'm skeptical...but trying to be open minded.

I've already collected a decent batch of blueprints for Naval techs and will certainly gain more. It's worth mentioning that in all the times I've played Poland using the 1.3 patch, I've NEVER received a gift blueprint from the UK or France. I've always had to initiate a trade and give them something for it. In previous versions, the UK and France would shower me with blueprints...that just doesn't happen anymore. The trick is to time things properly and not lose focus on the main goal right now which is the land and air force build up leading to the invasion of the USSR. For this reason alone, I'm likely to head down the Fleet-In-Being pathway and keep my naval goals relatively modest (no massive CV fleets or anything expensive and time consuming like that). Once I have my main builds in place, such as the all important Motorized Inf divs, we'll see where the IC stands and what sort of naval builds allocation I can make. I'm doing my best to stockpile supplies right now anticipating a massive need for the Russian campaign. Naval needs will be taking a back seat for now.

alternatively, you could mass-produce Militia+AC and just keep throwing yourself at the soviets until they run out of ammo.
think about it!
Where's the fun in that!? I'll never be able to out-manpower the Russians...instead I'll focus on the most effective mobile force I can possibly assemble and defeat them with maneuver. Infinitely more enjoyable in my opinion. I am building SOME militia, but their main purpose is to trigger some auto-promotion for my leaders and provide some rear area security.

I'm certainly aware there are better Polish leaders than Boltuc. He was selected for manual promotion because he had achieved a skill level of 3 and had only 1 experience point which means that when he got promoted I didn't have to throw away a bunch of experience points. His engineer trait also made him a decent replacement for Szylling. The other guys I'm cultivating for auto-promotion which has the distinct advantage of not losing a skill level. Pretty soon, auto-promotions will start kicking in as my overall unit count begins to rise rapidly. That's when Anders, Sosnkowski and Sikorski will become truly powerful.

It seems that, slowly, you are being pushed away from the British, perhaps faster than you would actually like. I don't blame the danes so much, but the British are taking sides against you, their erstwhile ally. Or perhaps they suspect that something is up?

Aaahh yes another update, I still am amazed by the wonderful graphics in the background etc. Nice to see them put together....

Anyway, I was a bit surfing on the internet and I encountered this at wikipedia (not certain if mentioned already) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Międzymorze

Are you trying to achieve something like this with Poland (including for example a smaller Germany) and add the former German/Polish territories....????:D

This would be nice, an even bigger Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (with the exception of Lithuania, only Polish rule!!!!)

Anyway can't wait for the new direction Poland is going....

Tim

I think you should go the Commerce Raider doctrine.

You are pretty much in the same position as Germany, and should base your Navy accordingly.

Lot's of Submarines. A surface fleet made up of BC's and and CVL's.

If you go BB's, skip SHBB, go for Improved, your navy needs to be a fast nimble one. The SHBB's, while cool and glorious, are slow and supply hungry.

While your Naval leaders might not look that good, I think some of their Max Skill's are fairly high, especially Swirski (sp?).

Going after the danes?

For the love of peace, why? I thought you needed the allies for their yummy blueprints? I thought you didn't want to be distracted from the main goal of toppling the bolsheviks! I definitely don't think you want to tangle with a two front war here and now!

I sincerely hope that the incident will be 'diplomatically' resolved and this this merely heralds the sundering of your alliance with England...not that you have resolved to conquer a nation you do not need to conquer yet.

Hrmn, I think a show of force might show the Allies a thing or two. And jolt them awake to see, Poland means business, and will not hesitate to go to war if we do not give into what they want on our first chance..

Anyways, I love the in-depth anaylizing he does in war, even if it is Denmark, it is still awesome for me to watch.

I like the way he says why he is attacking, and why ho choose that time and why he used the units he used.

Uh, I just like them because they're lighter than BBs and therefore faster, but with some heavier guns than cruisers. I'm not sure why, but I'd rather have BC's with a country that isnt a major, just for roleplaying I guess

I'm following Raaritsgodzilla there. I'd like to see you build some BC.

They actually even have a use, as 4 - 6 of them coupled with escorts and brigaded with torpedoes will eat away at enemy convoys at almost the rate of a 30 submarine wolfpack, but with added surface combat ability.

Greetings Everyone,

I would like to announce that trekaddict and myself will be conducting a Tempus Society sponsored collaborative AAR playing Finland with Doomsday 1.3. trekaddict and I will begin (within the next week) a few introductory posts to get the ball rolling then hand off the AAR to others who are interested in participating. This won't be a vanilla Finland game. We have made some changes to the initial setup which are detailed HERE

Please contact me via PM if you're interested in contributing. All are welcome!

BC's are a great option if you go with the Sealane Interdiction doctrine. Couple that with an Indirect Approach minister, and they well really be hell to the allied convoys.

I'm playing as Russia in Kaiserreich, and built two BC fleets.

3xBC 2xCVL 2xCA 5xCL 3xDD

Composed like that. The CVL's aer great for colosing the range in a normal battle, but they also give a great convoy attack bonus. On average each day with the two fleets (which are level 3, I have to brand new ones made with level 5 ships, but I haven't sen't them out raiding quite yet) I sink a combined total of around 14 Transports and 2 Escorts, I have them based off the tip of Singapore. I knwo there aer some more lucrative spots, btu as they are here, Germany hasn't had time to send a fleet out to take them, since they are so engaged with the Union of Britain and Me (we are not allied) closer to home.

Anyways, two of those makea nice 30 division fleet, which I keep together if I am expecitng combat, but I can also split them up to go raiding in other areas.

If you don't go wth Sealane Interdiction, they are much less usefull though, and normal BB's would be a better option.

Noticed your Finland deal, you will keep this AAR alive wont you?
