Nice update, but maybe you should edit the picture of the sunk ships list...there are a few symbols there...

Can't wait to see your battle plan for when Barbarossa begins; will you drop Marines all over Germany?

I wouldn't worry much. Germany and USSR have signed friendship pact and Hitler, being man of his word, will honor it. Current deeds of Kriegsmarine will only help to soften imperialistic oppressors of third world.

Wow I've missed three updates

Nice to the Red Fleet progressing steadily and operating well with land forces. The use of marines against the Baltic states is a novel idea and one wonders how they can be used again in a possible future war against Japan or Germany?

OT The Bismarck was a handsome ship wasn't it?

Tanesis,

Maj. von Mauser - You mean Stalin's Ocean Going Fleet? Found that while searching before the AAR and I'd get too it if I wasn't broke.
Anyway, notice Stalin's thing with carriers is more of an issue with not falling behind against the Washington Treaty powers then any great faith in the ships.

ColossusCrusher - I won't tell the mods if you don't :p I'll get round to it anyway.

Velendesril - Barbarossa, what's that? ;) And wouldn't that tactic be a bit of an exploit on the AI (Arian Intelligence)?

Edzako - That is the spirit young sailor! Have you considered joining the Party?

Tanesis - Mr trekaddict will come to escort you to a very pleasant datcha in Siberia. Please abide by his instructions when he arrives :)

Twice in four updates I've been threatend with deportation to happy camps in Siberia :( I should learn to shut my mouth and love our glorious leader for only he knows what my, and my fellow comrades, needs and wants are <Uncomfortably looks around to make sure Trekaddict is not around to assisst me on an impromptu holiday>

Tanesis,

Edit - 750 Posts! 1/4 of my way to getting a now defunct custom avatar. Hooray!

Fear not comrade! Stalin will be lenient as long as you faithfully serve the Motherland.

It looks like you are having quite a bit of fun with the marine divisions. Hopefully the army will be able to match the successes of the navy, however, and hopefully the Germans are weaker than they seem.

Not much is heard of the glorious Red Airforce... how come? Are there no ressources left for them, between a large Red Navy and the Red Army?

Will we see Soviet Marines liberating Berlin from the Nazi yoke while the reactionaries are busy dieing outside the gates of Moscow?

Good update seems like the Bismark is keeping the Royal Navy busy. As for wheter the Bismark is a beautiful ship I don't know, I personally tend towards battlecruisers they are so much cooler. :)

I recently ordered a book about the Soviet Naval planning from 1935-1953, in it it details how Stalin was actually a Mahan affectionado. Also (this might affect your plans) he was not a fan of carriers, feeling that large and powerfull battleships emphasised a powerful navy, and country.

Even as it was becoming clear the carriers were taking over for battleships, he countinued to hold on to this belief, and had several arguments with Kuznetsov, which eventually resulted in his dismissal.

I once read that somewhere after the war Stalin had a quarrel with Voroshilov. Apparently, even Stalin's half-imbecille (no offense) marshall realised that the Soviet Union is not capable of keeping up with the combined forces Royal Navy and USNavy. Stalin's attitude towards fleet was somewhat simmilar to Hitler's; he was a megaloman, who believed only in superior guns and armour. That's why in my games I usually concentrate on BBs, ignoring the CVs completely.

But, on the other hand... You carriers are light, escort ones. The main punch will still be delievered by BBs - so I guess we can accept such middle-ground compromise. ;)

Actually i think the Bismarck was a quite beautyfull ship. Although it was indeed a waste of ressources, the design was quite good when you consider that Germany wasn't exactly a nation with a long history of ocean going ships. It was fast, and had some of the best optical aiming systems in the world... Too bad they were useless at night compared to the radar outfitted British ships.

Lets hope the Red Navy haven't made the same mistake and underestimated radar technology.

IMHO the biggest problem of Bismarck where the crappy AA systems, as proven by the Farey Swordfish. For example the main AA director was so top heavy it tended to de-stabilize the entire ship when it turned to meet an Air threat, it was also extremely vulnerable to under-water hits by torpedoes. I've also read somewhere that the Swordfishes were too slow for the AA to sight them properly. Death-Star trench-run anyone?

What I heard on the other hand, the thing that doomed B was that a torpedo got lucky hitting it's rudder, desabling Bismark's steering capability. Of all torpedos none penetrated troug all armour.

But then again it's unending argue between germans claiming they scutled the ship because they couldn't steer, and British, claming Germans had nothing to do with sinking, it sank because of torpedo damage.
