Greetings and I'll explain how I'm currently playing CK3 and Stellaris.

First of all, with the exe, I can also use the games, but the DLC won't work. Unfortunately.
So I turn on the PC and the computer starts up.

Then go to the Appdata folder and delete 3 folders there

C:\Users\Mr\AppData\Local\Paradox Interactive
C:\Users\Mr\AppData\Roaming\Paradox Interactive
C:\Users\Mr\AppData\Roaming\paradox-launcher-v2

After that I delete the Paradox Launcher.
Now I'm running Steam as admin.
To start CK3 or Stellaris there I press the green start button.

Now the launcher will be automatically installed again and the game will start in the launcher where everything is displayed with the DLC, settings and news from Paradox.

Until the launcher is updated from version 2022.12 to the new one, I have to wait until I press continue or new game.
Now everything works as usual. I also have to make sure that the cloud data is loaded, otherwise saved games won't work.

So pay attention to the Manage settings in Steam settings and Stellaris or CK3 there.

This is my daily career with the Paradox launcher. Please help so that I can play CK3, Stallaris, Beteltech etc. again without deleting the data.

p.s. I'm not a programmer or IT specialist and I'm from Germany with school English from the 80s. Please explain in a little more detail in the help

So launcher and games work okay under 2022.12 ?

And also under 2023.2.1 ?

Sorry, but I'm not understanding what problem you have. Can you explain in more detail please?

The problem is that I always have to delete everything and uninstall instead of just starting with the green start button.

For all other games, whether Westlands, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Horizon or Baldur's Gate 3, I don't have to uninstall or delete anything.
Just log in via Steam and then press the game with the start buttons and off you go.

No. The Launcher 2022.12 doesn't work any more than the current one.
The game doesn't load. I press the start button, get displayed what is running and then nothing.

He just walks out of the store like nothing ever happened or I didn't press anything.
If I then press it again, nothing happens.

I see, so when you said "the game will start in the launcher" and "Now everything works as usual.", you meant it was not working?

Do these games start from ck3.exe and stellaris.exe okay? If not is there an error shown?

In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Here is the data, I hope it's the right one

In the cpatch log we see:
2023-03-02 01:47:17 [repository] [WARNING] failed to make metadata path repository.json world writable: failed to chmod C:\Users\Mr\AppData\Local\Programs\Paradox Interactive\launcher\.cpatch\launcher-v2-bootstrapper\repository.json: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.
Are you sure you ran steam.exe as the Windows Admin user?

No problems just tried it. Even runs with the DLC.

I started Steam as Admin, then CK3 there and then right-click on Manage and there via Lockale files clicked on the .exe under H:\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings III\binaries

I don't know then. What if you make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that? Do you get the same launcher problem there?

Well, either there is something loading in your original Windows user profile that is getting in the way of our launcher (whether an app, utility, or security setting), or it is corrupted. At least now you can play the game properly, with some inconvenience to be sure.

Diagnosing Windows problems like that is somewhat beyond me I'm afraid. You could boot into the original Windows user profile again and try this Windows repair tool

If that doesn't help, install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.
