HoI4 DevDiary: No Step Back Achievements

Hello, and welcome back to another Dev Diary for Hearts of Iron 4. As we close in on wrapping up this major operation, code-named Barbarossa, before winter falls (the first snow fell in Stockholm this weekend, I am sure it’ll be fine), today we will talk about the new achievements that will be added with the release of No Step Back.

As far as the process is concerned, we usually have an open list of achievement suggestions during the whole DLC development cycle. Near the end of the cycle, we take a vote on what achievements we want to see in the game (after eliminating any that would be technically impossible) and start the process of implementing them and ordering art.

For No Step Back, we started with a list of 49 suggestions, and whittled it down to 20 Achievements:

Reactions:
It's not part of the No Step Back DLC, but what about:

"They Shall Not Pass" -> As Romania, refuse to give up North Transylvania or Bessarabia and never lose 1 core territory to anyone before 1945.
(Must not join the Axis/Comintern or go fascist/communist)

It's absolutely challenging but doable.

Both USSR and Nazi Germany attack you. Eventually Bulgaria attacks you too and Yugoslavia capitulates. So the only neighbour that doesn't attack you is the Black Sea, except for naval invasions. And you're playing a minor.

Your best bet is to hold out until Germany eventually declares war on USSR and the Allies eventually retake France and begin pushing west.

Will there be a diary with formables/releasebles?
There already was a bit of one with one of the focus tree DDs I think. Though there were a lot of weird exclusions in terms of releasables. No Don or Kuban, bits missing in the Caucasus, and a giant corridor of no cores all the way to Eastern Siberia. If the current peace deal AI were to touch the Soviet Union it would turn it into a bit of a monstrosity postwar in other words.

You cant puppet without a peace deal, and allies will alway guarantee either turkey, poland or czechoslovakia. Unless you pry the latter from the corpse of germany.
Turkey can be grabbed if you force a war over Montreux, and you have a window during WW2 for snatching Iran and Afghanistan. the rest are easy and historical, except having to force puppet Mongolia somehow.

These are just world conquests. At least we don't need to end the war this time atleast.

conquer germany (...). not control.

Already in game, "neither death nor dishonor" iirc

hardest acheivements in my opinion :

This is going to be LIT: As Lithuania, hold the capitals of all of your neighbours : you would have to take on the soviets im guessing

No more Partitions: As Poland, be independent and ensure that both Germany and the USSR are either in your faction or don’t exist, you would have to beat germany and soviets

Around Eurasia in 80 days: Have a railroad from Gibraltar to Singapore , this is more of a time problem
Around Eurasia would be super easy, just conquer USSR as the UK.

Hardest one in my opinion is the Tannu Tuva one.

You can decentralize via Soviet Focus Tree, that should make most of the requirements puppeted with a few exceptions I guess

The Romanovs one is not that hard really just kill Turkey day one so they dont get guaranteed and then on historical beat the Axis that should have taken all of the required countries. I´d argue that the hardest part is winning de Civil War actually.

really depends on what counts as "conquered" controlling one core state? or all?
