Brain Slugs no longer gene modable

What expansions do you have installed?


Do you have mods enabled?

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Have Brain Slugs on some of my descended clones and can not mod those pops. I don't know if that was a change with this version that brain slugs can't be modded but in the last version I could. I also don't understand why I can't mod brain slug pops WITH other brain slug pops if you don't want them being gene modded onto the entire species.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Put Brain Slugs on pops, try to gene mod.

We require a save game to properly investigate the issue. Please attach a zipped save here, if possible.
Save games can usually be found at:
Windows: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\save games
Mac: /Users/USERNAME/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/save games
Linux: $HOME/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/save games/
 
I unfortunately can't provide the save game as I accidentally deleted it when clearing out a different game. If I can figure out how to restore an ironman game I will upload it.

I have the same problem in my greenhouse game.
Also with clone army origin + descended clones.
I hope the save file works.
Game version is Lem v3.1.2

It's likely due to the clone origin as someone stated earlier. clone origin species can't be modified until you research allowing genetic modifications to be allowed. this also means orbital speed demon won't modify the clone either.
 
As per patch notes:
* Fixed it being possible to remove and add traits that shouldn't be possible to change, via species modification.

Working "as intended"
Note this impacts any event traits such as Brain slug, Alien Box, Self modified pops, as well as exotic environment preferences such as Gaia/Ringworld/Tomb world/Habitat
- I can see making some of it more restricted - like being able to remove a trait but not as it is currently which locks the trait.

Note: There the dev team is aware of a Sound Bug that occurs when you attempt to apply to a species that cannot accept a trait.

I will update with a save game tomorrow - just got home and need some sleepy time, but I encountered this very issue for the first time earlier this morning.
Aquatic species. Hope this is not a deliberate nerf. Would be a very small boon that takes a VERY long time to develop speed if there are only 3 pops in your empire with the trait. Assuming they are not wiped out by an asteroid strike, etc.

Well if you take bio ascension you can force all clones to take the trait, and if you have the ability to control growth you can also set which pop grows on a world with a -10% growth penalty. You could out breed your original non-brain slug species. But yeah - this is now nerfed
