- Added support for dollar signs in localization strings. Normally a dollar sign denotes the start or end of a variable. With this change "$$" will produce a single dollar sign in the resulting string.

- Added support for the triggers is_enemy, is_friend and is_neutral to adjacency rules to enable script to determine which rule to use. Evaluation order is documented in adjacency_rules.txt.
- Added global.province_controllers game variable array that returns an array containing the controller for each province, where array index is mapped to province ID. For example global.province_controllers^4135 returns the controller of Gibraltar.

When we stopped selling the Colonel Edition and moved most of the cosmetics there to new armor packs instead we had nowhere to put our Heavy Cruiser pack and we figured it would just be a nice thing to give it away to everyone for this update - so thats what we did! It will now be baked in. The pack contains the following ships 3d models :
France - Algérie
USA - Baltimore
UK - Exeter
Soviet - Kirov
Japan - Mogami
German - Prinz Eugen
Italy - Trieste Class

Onboarding Experiments
Hearts of Iron is not a game known for how easy it is for new players to get into it... and that is probably not going to change ;D But we do feel like we could do a lot better job at helping new players out here. We have a lot of ideas around improving the pretty basic tutorial, more context help and helping you see changes in patches and such that we dream of doing, but much of this is still in some far away potential future. Right now though we have gotten help from our awesome experiment group at Paradox Arctic in testing some stuff on you all. Well some of you at least...

See we are doing this as a test to compare how the changes affect new players so the system will automatically enable it only for certain people next week, so do not worry if you see stuff your friends aren't or the other way around.

So what have we actually done? We have integrated little short video clips tied to alerts and such to help illustrate how to deal with them. These are also accessible from the ingame menu for browsing. Do note that this is not some full coverage of features yet, but we hope it will be enough to see if there is any impact on new player behaviors and if it works out there is a good chance we will record and add more in the future if we roll it out for everyone.

@podcat Many thanks for a new wonderful DLC. Purple Phoenix 2.0 here I come!

I was wondering. Since this update also fixed and if anything wonderfully added to a bunch of DoD Expansion content. Could it be also extended forwards to other nations as well at least in terms of fixes.

I've made a small post regarding Hungary over at https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...or-dishonour-minor-fix.1436113/#post-27015420 but as other players in the thread have pointed out, seems like other nations have also some inconsistencies that might warrant a look to guarantee the high quality that Paradox games are known for.

Please check this thread about suggested improvements to the Netherlands.

I have uploaded some fixing ideas here.

I hope some fixes will make it into 1.10.2 or 1.10.3.

Netherlands has great gameplay but there are quite a lot of annoying issues.

Hey I've started playing the new patch as Yugoslavia and I feel that a mistake was made when redesigning the tree. The Peasant council focus which gives the initial boost to communism is temporary and lasts only 730 days now. This is not in its self a change from how political paths are often done now, only the peasant council idea is not a normal political idea. It is then upgraded by two subsequent focuses which give even more communism boost but also other bonuses such as construction speed and attack bonuses. The problem is that the idea is still only temporary, and assuming you start the game off going down the communist path, you loose all these bonuses in 1938, long before you ever go to war or even before such bonuses are really useful. It just seems kinda odd that Yugoslavia is supposed to get a really small temporary construction bonus and a combat bonus which goes away before Yugoslavia has built enough or gone to war.

This should be fixed by either splitting those bonuses off into a different idea or unmake the peasant council focus temporary, otherwise those bonuses are kinda pointless.

Also aside from that there's also the strange issue that even after you have converted Albania communist through your Peasant Uprising focus, Italy will still annex Albania (which is by the way a new Albania and not the original anyway) with absolutely nothing that the Yugoslavians can do about it. I find it hard to believe that the Socialist state set up by Yugoslavia would just give into the Fascist Italian demands without asking for help from their big brother first.

Suggestion for after-patch.

Make Yugoslavia react to German and British diplomatic pressure.

Currently it does nothing. Most of the pressures don't even set a country flag. But even which do are not taken into consideration anywhere.

I suggest a solution that each pressure make the Yugo AI choose Sign The Tripartite Pact or End The Regency more likely.

Currently the AI weights are set to 4:1 in favour of Axis which is fine in case of historical-ish pressures but in a game where let's say Germany plays very passively but Britain is doing Balkan Strategy and pressures Yugo the chance for an Allied Yugo should be much higher, i'd say similar to 1:1 vs Axis.

This would need more even base focus weights to be used compared to the current ones.

how do you change to 1.10
Opt out the beta ones, select "None", that makes your HoI4 patch follows the live version, currently 1.10
 
At first I thought the video window was just in the way, but after I got used to it being there it was invisible -- until I needed to look for something. Of course the video I needed wasn't there, but I looked at some of the others. They're a bit quick; stretching it out for maybe another second will help more people catch it on the first run through.

Good idea, that.
