EU4: 1.29.6 Released - Checksum b3ef (Not for problem reports)

Greetings!

Another security vulnerability involving mods was discovered and patched.

Spoiler: 1.29.6 Patchnotes

• Potential security issue fixed (Special thanks to @Mastoid for qualitative assistance resolving this issue)
• Using SDL 2.0.4 instead of 2.0.3 (addressing a graphical issue with some resolutions on MacOS 10.15)

This patch should hopefully not have any effect on save games.

I can't start my save game anymore since the update. And when i select an older version(1.28.3) i cant run the game anymore on Mac.

This can be done in Steam.

No, it cannot, at least not the "normal" way. It only lets us revert to 1.28.3 or 1.27.2, which are also not compatible with the saves from 1.29.5.

Did you actually try to load your RNW saves? I tried it after clicking OK in the warning dialog and it seemed to work and achievements were still enabled. But that save was made on the first day without doing any changes to the country. But two people on reddit were also able to load their RNW saves successfully.
Before you try it you should make a backup of your save game just in case that there are any problems.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Additionally, my most recent saved game vanished.

I had no idea you could do that, thanks very much. I just finished bashing Austria and the Austrian allies. Seems like it works perfectly.

Did the achievements still work for you afterwards? For me they were dissabled...

The load screen still says "Ironman=yes", so I'm assuming they do, but I don't know for sure.

@Owen if you click on the trophy icon in the upper right corner, you can see if achievements are enabled. If it is greyed out, achievements are disabled. Not all ironman games have working achievements.

@Wolfwood are you sure that achievements were still working the last time that you played that save game in 1.29.5? There are some circumstances that can disable achievement and you won't necessarily get a warning about it. Do achievements still work for you when you start a new campaign?
