I need to ask - is the "typo" keeping the BL-6b-KNT from showing up fixed? Edit: I noticed someone posting saying "yes it was fixed" so I'm good now.

However, to add:

Personally, I think that's a shame. I consider being able to double your heat sinking capacity just by saying "this mech uses double heat sinks" to be the stupidest rule ever made in the entire BattleTech universe. (Though admittedly, there are many rulebooks I haven't read, so it's entirely possible that I missed something worse... despite the fact that I find it difficult to imagine anyone coming up with something that IS worse.)

Edit: Though come to think of it, I definitely like the fact that it means the internal engine heat sink variable in the JSON files is working now. That gives more flexibility and I can implement house rules with it.

It's less stupid when you consider you couldn't mix Singles and Doubles, at all. Unless you had enough Doubles to do a full replacement job . . . well, sucks doesn't it? I'd like for this to be a thing with HBS' game, but I understand why it's not.

Also, worse rules exist in the arcane "Infantry Platoon construction rules". No. Seriously. Calculus III was less demanding.

I don't think even Quikscell could succeeed selling something that ... :p

Yes they could. It's Quickscell. It's like WalMart-brand furniture, nobody goes to them for quality.

Nah they were always meant as one shot wonders hence why no armor and mass produced. Really wish I had my old FASA 3026 handy but alas, sold all my stuff years ago. Def could be a faulty memory on my part but I swear they were like half ton / one ton max armor, all missiles.

WHAT were meant as one-shot wonders, though? The SRM/LRM carriers? Yeah, no, they're definitely better armored than that. Not much better, but still...

In my opinion it doesn't make it much less stupid at all... in fact, the rule disallowing mixing types makes absolutely no sense unless you allow internal heat sinks to arbitrarily be declared as doubles. At best it's a work around to try to cover up the problem.

All they had to do to fix it properly was change the formula for how many heat sinks are part of the engine vs. how many require external slots to be a formula for how many free slots you get instead of how many heat sinks. Then the doubles would simply take up more space, as normal. (This is, in fact, the house rule that I intend to implement with a mod at some point.)

No, they have 3 tons. But that's not much, the usual armor amount of things a third the weight of a carrier.

Wow, the last patch? Nice. Some sweet variants in there, but for a dummy like me, could someone please tell me how we get these rare SLDF variants in our OG campaigns without editing files or whatever? It is just looking for lucky Black Market rolls? Maybe faction stores?

Thanks to HBS for this fine game. As an old (X-Mas '85) Battletech player I really enjoyed what you made here. You guys really captured the feel, despite some design/mechanical decisions I never did understand. I also really liked your Shadowrun games, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you make next! :)

Haven't checked yet, but maybe they could show up as flashpoint rewards, or rarely for sale on worlds with the "Former SLDF Presence" tag? That's how you'd get advanced tech previously without the black market.

I think they only ways to get SLDF mechs (other than Altlas, Highlander and Griffin) are purchasing in BM (some pirate must have found a castle brian...) or lucky roll in lostech reward FP loot table (there os one event with that table too).

Oh, the pirates probably looted Artru after the fact...

The real question now for me... do I try to run my Ironman game that I've currently got going on and try an escort mission?? Or do I continue to avoid them like they are the plague?

But better keep the hands of the "Tag Team"-contracts, because there is still the possibility of a mission-breaking bug.

Pirates are allied with Comstar. That's why when you do one of the random contracts with two allied lances fighting you, if the first one is pirates, the second one is generally (always?) Comstar. Indeed, AFAIK, it's the only way to encounter Comstar as a faction.

Obviously some of the pirates are using their Comstar connections to acquire and resell some of their cached materials.

There's . . . other reasons, and I've had Pirates allied with other factions at least once as a 'joint operation'. Also watched my brother do a mission where the Pirates wanted to knock over a Taurian facility . . . and Local Government decided to drop an Assault Lance in to get in on that action.

Looks like ModTek has been updated with a new version that's 1.9 compatible. Good to have mods working properly again (things like SkipIntro), as well as having progress bars rather than a black screen.

Now just waiting on HBS to update the bt-dlc-designdata github repository to 1.9.
progress bars? Is that a mod or just visible once the intros are disabled?

“Progress Bars” are the evidence that ModTek is hard at work enriching your BARTLETECH Experience.

They occur just after the game launches and before the opening cinematic...

...and after a hard-fought battle to Load everything into the right folder, to run the “Community Asset Bundle, CAB to the initiates” and correct positioning and use of the ModInjector...

...those Progress Bars are sublime and ethereal proof that you’ve gotten it right and will soon be enjoying all the hard work and many, long hours of effort from one of the many Teams of Modders hard at work within our Marvelous Modding Community.

Not that I know of...
