Personally I think there would be a stronger case for Sardinians, the so called Barbagia was never completely romanised; the resistance of some Ligurian tribes to Roman rule doesn't seem to have had long term consequences that one could still trace centuries later and it probably pales in comparison to the Osco-Umbrian and Samnite open rebellion in the Social War.
And yet many people consider modern sardinian as the closest language to old roman latin.
And ligurians are still gallo-italic and have more in common with the lombard language and less with the others.

Remoteness and the consequent resistance to cultural changes work both ways; still Sardinian is phonetically unique, having completely lost the difference between long and short vowels, a unique development that was probably caused by their relative isolation.

How about localisation for titles? The name for the tier Kingdom title is Viceroy and for duchies is Minor Viceroy for the Roman culture in HIP.

Any chances of adding them in later bookmarks, albeit in a limited way? Perhaps just a single surviving roman ruling family in Sardinia.
no i wont do that but again its extremely easy to do history modding yourself. and if you just want a roman character open the console and type "culture roman" while playing
