Diving in again. Raja of the Rajput Reich is missing on the list.
As promised in my last report, this will be played on VH.

I have never played on VH before and are used to a very macro-focused style to the point where my micro visibly suffers during normal campaigns.

It will be done almost live. At most the narrator will be two sessions ahead. Chances are this won't end well, just to give a heads up.

Without further ado, let's dive in.

usEHPZf.jpg

We are a five development OPM. Absolutely everyone can destroy us even on normal.
We start by rivaling Dhundar, send a spy to fabricate on them and RM+ally Jaunpur+Multan.
Nothing happens until 1454 and we restart. This is going way too slow.
I'm not here to gather favors until I'm dead.

FBd55V8.jpg

That's better.
Hire a dip rep advisor, RM Jaunpur and Multan again.
Build up to force limit, send merchants, ask Dhimmi and merchants for cash, Amirs for mil power.

14pwg60.jpg

One month later we grab both alliances and check out Delhi.

Mu3X2Ku.jpg

They're allied to Sind. Warscore is below 100% but above 50. Sind has no other allies so we set them as co-belligerent.
If you read the last AAR you already know where this is going. Time for an Indian vassal swarm.

vX4uhZQ.jpg

Promised both of them land and called them in. Should be easy.
Need to make sure we occupy enough provinces.
The plan is to break the promise (who would have thought) and to grab a few other allies.
The -20 modifier to alliances on VH is annoying, but that's it.
Royal marriages still work as a protective shield.
Nations never declare into a stabhit. If the situation is dire we can always RM someone.

Relationship limit? Stop making up words.

Mk0ngUN.jpg

We try sitting on Jangladesh, but anthill mode is real. So many units flying around, it's hard to feal safe.

QzMneuR.jpg

Jaunpur decides Delhi's capital is the place to go. We don't stop them.
Not a fan of attaching other armies to us except for the finer parts of it. Delhi has no clue where to go, as usual.

pCrRVE0.jpg

Making a bee-line for Sind's capital, discover their armies, run away. The usual.

fVIEktY.jpg

In a moment without visible enemies we siege down Bhattlana. Delhi's forts are occupied by rebels, they won't unsiege.
Our general is our heir by the way. A formidable 0/2/2/1.
1 Siege is the most important stat if you're the kinda leader who likes to avoid combat at all costs.
2 shock are nice as well. 2 maneuver stinks, but may come in handy.

Overall decent.

zUr2fRq.jpg

Pretender rebels try to siege down Delhi. Fine with us. No clue where Jaunpur is.
While we were sieging Jangladesh the rest of the map explodes. Everyone is at war with everything.
Normal on VH? No idea, but it makes it extremely difficult to concentrate considering we have to watch four parties, our own troops, the ever changing fog of war and a massive rebel stack that can wipe everything.
Doesn't help that apparently everyone is willing to give mil acc if you blow them a kiss.

All directions are either dangerous, uninteresting or both. Schrödinger's war.

vsDqZm2.jpg

Jaunpur catches Sind, but Delhi is ready to reinforce. We got a few supply shortages, nothing out of the ordinary except for the opening wall breach.
Fingers crossed for a sober Fortuna.

cuBNOX0.jpg

Delhi completely ignores us. We heard tales of an overly aggressive AI, but to chase Jaunpur while ignoring a 35% siege on your vassal's capital?
Okay. No problem. We finish the siege and walk over to Sind. Heard it's nice there this time of the year.

IFelMMX.jpg

Yea, no problem at all. What could go wrong? This is practically won. Nothing on the horizon.

pkls00G.jpg

Carpet siege, carpet siege, oh I love to carpet siege.

67CdaGo.jpg

The source of all this hectic maneuvering.

Baluchistan, Bahmanis, Gujarat, Kathiawar, Multan, Sind, Jaunpur, all related vassals, Timurids somewhere north.
Pretty much all of India is at war. Hard to concentrate.

WDV5FRP.jpg

The preferred peacedeal. Let's see how far we can push it.

Nobody has been able to siege Delhi so far.
Sometimes Jaunpur tries, sometimes rebels try, all abandon it sooner or later.

0C8yXNi.jpg

Delhi decides it had enough and moves over.
Either to siege down Multan or to kill us.
Judging from recent activities, it's probably the latter.

cbenH9h.jpg

We make a run for it. No combat. Meanwhile Rebels have sieged down Delhi and Jaunpur takes over.
We will lose our province and only land connection to Delhi's other provinces.
Nothing can be done about it. Maybe they get killed for us.

5g5x4aU.jpg

They won't. Our province is gone. At least we still have that fort. One province is a good start. Babysteps.
We get an event improving our relations with Afghanistan.
Yea, Timurid's vassals. Exactly the kinda guy we need to like us.
Help, we're drowning in sarcasm!

Rc5sXWE.jpg

We visit Delhi and help out with a wall breach. That siege1. Best general. God-general. Praise Lord... already forgot his name.
Crappy stats for an heir. Hope he dies after the war.

OH COME ON! LEAVE IT ALONE!

Delhi unsieged everything we had. Annoying at best and may lead to a full annexation at worst.

lIq81jh.jpg

Delhi falls and we wish we had gotten maneuver 6 instead of 2.
Let's siege down Bhattana to get at least something out of this war.
Can we still make it after that?

8aoflfK.jpg

Mayyybe, but not that way. Small detour to avoid getting shredded.
Might be too late for the capital.

wlVSjDk.jpg

Who are we kidding. Barely 3 years in, but the AI refusing to siege anything if there's a battle to fight seems to become a theme.
They defeat Sind.

GBjQ21g.jpg

Bagelkhand gets there before us. Vassal of Mewar. Not worried yet, mainly because we forgot whose vassal it is.
Almost 20 minutes into the campaign and we're completely lost because of all the units running around.

AQKKorD.jpg

They leave anyways. Sind got defeated, but not wiped. If there's armies to wipe, a siege has to be abandoned.
Almost makes sense.

We arrive and help out with our siege1 general.

Ox5AgOs.jpg

Pretender rebels take our much needed province once again, Delhi tries to unsiege their capital for more than 20 days.
We're already impressed until our god-general shows up with a measly status quo. The second one in a row.
Murderous thoughts intensify.

cA8WDyT.jpg

Our first loan! How cute.
We develop our capital with dip points for an additional 0.02 ducats extra per month.
Not very impressive, but it also increases our loan size to 3, saving lots of Inflation in the long run.

Why exactly is Jaunpur hanging around in Sind?

rY6aDgE.jpg

We had the order for them to attach to us active for some reason.
Oh yea, wanted to break through Sind's north, but nobody followed us. Now they're just hanging around watching our back.
Can't attach because of attrition. Not very useful to have them here. We disable attaching and they leave.

Our general finally gives us something better than status quo. Supply shortage earlier, water shortage now.

wr6mlJr.jpg

And off they go. Looks like they really try to protect you if you ask them to attach while they're not able to.
Delhi is about to fall to pretender rebels again. No clue where Delhi's armies are at this point.
It has become difficult to know where our own armies are.

TsA0haj.jpg

In 1448 the fort falls and we check their willingness to become our vassal.

iu0ufeF.jpg

JESUS! Defensive war with Jaunpur and Multan against Mewar anyone?

Q3ucj2F.jpg

Of course not. 9 days later Mewar peaces out, taking two provinces with them.
Well that's 17 dev we'll never gonna see again.

lvdL6XN.jpg

This war has become a tad boring. We vassalize the remains of Sind and

OMU07zr.jpg

mindlessly peace out Delhi, giving two provinces to our allies.
Okay. Cool. No problem. Now we have to play with allies who like us.
Sucks, but that's how it is.

Let's check what our vassal has to offer.

tzXkAra.jpg

A claim on Kathiawar. Not the worst that could've happened.
They unsiege Gujarat who is getting sieged down by Bahmanis who are fighting... you get the idea. Everything and everyone.
We wait until Kathiawar unsieges their capital, declare on them and sit on it.

Jangladesh gets handed over to the Ulema. Admin points are being used to get back to 0 stab and to develop our capital for some extra cash.

25GciBD.jpg

Kathiawar has no interest in fighting us because we have the same amount of troops. They run into Gujarat to either siege or die. Probably the latter judging from our first few years of VH experience.

Rzdx5gb.jpg

Yea, almost 0 garrisoned units will do that to you.
Good job leaving a half dead capital alone.

fYsDIhv.jpg

Oh wait, you're the attacker? Legit hilarious.

And with that we're closing the session.

Options are to either take 3 provinces for glorious Nagaur or to drag it out, vassalize and get a defensive war against Gujarat whose provinces we'll then take for ourselves.
Guess vassalizing would make both vassals disloyal. On the other hand, a vassal swarm always sounds nice and we could find a way to keep them under us.

Plan for the next session: Not to screw ourselves over.
A decent start. Not great by any means. We still have allies, which is damaging to anyone's ego.
Then again, favors were gathered, a province got added, the nation is barely 38 ducats in debt and another nation could join the family soon.

As for VH... eh
It was interesting to have so many troops running around and I had to do this session in four takes because I got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of flags running around.
Lost 1k because I forgot it was still sitting in the capital, but that's it.
Everyone is so eager to fight, nobody ends up fighting Nagaur.
Even if they try to fight, everyone and their mothers has military access which means there's always an escape route with our maneuver2 general.
And running away suffices since nobody even tried sieging down our capital.

Bigger numbers, worse AI.
Kinda excited if bigger numbers will come to mean something. Maybe we'll end up in a war where running isn't an option.

Until then, sleep well and have a great start into your week

New day, new war.

Ei5tL0V.jpg

Kathiawar gets sieged down. Forgot to check provinces for units being build.

gemYsLM.jpg

A challenger appears! Kathiawar's 1k stack gets defeated, then wiped. Not much warscore, but they're close to surrendering anyways.

m216LdG.jpg

Very close.
Utterly defeated follows the 5 year rule even if it's a different war that has been going on for 5 years?
Cool.

uyjCHLI.jpg

Grab some cash and grab em as a vassal. We're now in a defensive war against Gujarat and call in Jaunpur+Multan.

omhJItK.jpg

Gujarat moves in, we move out.
They decide it's not worth their time and nonchalantly walk away.

KiWaC2L.jpg

Kathiawar had quite a bit of cash. We use it to repay all loans.
Still sitting at 5 ducats/loan. Not the best loan size to work with, but at least we're debt free for now.

SwPwQFS.jpg

I... what?
WHAT?
One month into the war, Jaunpur grabs a white peace, which shouldn't even be possible.
Oh wait, taking over a war doesn't change its length modifiers. Still, why would you leave us, Jaunipuribuddy?
animated-smileys-sad-010.gif

YzAvD4N.jpg

Multan suffices. We siege down Gujarat while Kathiawar+Multan defeat their army.
Taking a bit of a break to refresh and back into the run with new energy.

WAcD0Ee.jpg

We keep starting to move into Baroda, cancel, move, etc. to guarantee that we're there first in case they flee south. Don't want a river crossing potentially prolonging their troops' lifes.
Leaving back one unit is essential. Can't risk having Kathiawar grabbing the siege. Forgot to set POI before accepting them as a vassal.

AEjwJ8x.jpg

Wiped!

Our king recently died and we get a 3/3/2 heir. Blergh.
No time to disinherit. If our prestige drops, our morale drops. Not like we're going to farm any prestige from battles :p

JrcIsQi.jpg

What's up with Afghanistan loving us? Incredibly aggrevating events. They're a vassal, their opinion doesn't matter.
Don't give our vassals any stupid ideas.
They're both disloyal at the moment. Of course they are. We're a 2 province minor. I'm trying to turn my life around for you, can't you see, kids?

Maybe I should go and "buy cigarettes" to make them understand how much they'd miss me.

r110XGu.jpg

Siege drags on forever. Status quo, disease outbreak, lovely.
We check mil acc, Mewar has cancelled ours. They're giving it to Multan now meaning we're screwed once the war is over.
Rebels north, rebels south and this fat bastard in between. A hate sandwich.
At least we'll always have a cb available.

WbKjiFy.jpg

Not sure if what we're doing here makes sense, but we send a missionary into our capital.
Can't increase autonomy so they're going to explode sooner or later anyways.
Former peasant rebels immediately get transformed into religious rebels and take over their progress.
Jangladesh has separatists, so nothing really changes.
Maybe we can transform them later to throw into someone's face.

HFcDMKg.jpg

And the fort is down! Sadly, no one has declared on them. Could've vassalized Gujarat for another defensive war.

VNOCQy4.jpg

14 ducats... but we did so much ;_;
Remember the time we ran away and avoided combat just to come in at the last second for a stackwipe? Doesn't that count for anything?

GWSfRod.jpg

They want our province
emoticon-0107-sweating.gif

Coalitions can't form. Whenever there's 4 potential nations we remove one of them.

And now we wait.

gqqMry5.jpg

Or not.
Smart move, kid. Got any allies left?

m5MpICX.jpg

OPM Jaisalmer.
Set to co-belligerent, promise Multan land, pray to the gods they're asking Mewar for military access so we can join and GO!

ehNqW1A.jpg

Both nations start with Status Quo, our troops run up and down, desperately trying to get north. We need that siege1 general to improve our chances.

uEfZoyB.jpg

Duo supply shortage, but we are finally allowed to join. Jaisalmer is protecting Dhundar for no reason and our siege is ahead of theirs.

Renaissance spawns god knows where. Not like we can see Europe. What even is a "Europe"?

In the corner of our eye we see a second red flag popping up. Great... rebels

PZokoJN.jpg

Religious rebels!
Gujarati separatists sound like a pest. 15k, almost twice our force limit.
But 8k on our capital? Yes please!

Time to grab a coffee and think about our options.

673dfBJ.jpg

Not like we have any. Almost an unnecessary break. But hey, coffee!
bananadance.gif

Started taking loans again. Not in the mood for debasing this time around. Not very beneficial anyways. We're betting on increasing our loansize quite a bit.
Take new loans, pay off old ones, rinse and repeat.
Besides, our ruler is dirt, his heir is slightly less dirt. Got no monarch points to waste.
Got a wall breach earlier and are still ahead in terms of siege stati. Fingers crossed.

i2rApuA.jpg

2 months later, rebels still haven't popped. Tooltip promised us it would happen soon ;_;
One thing I noticed is the AI using the option to storm forts once they get a breach.
Jaunpur used it earlier to sacrifice our troops in Delhi. Always thought that tactic was limited to players.
Glad they haven't gotten any so far in this war. On the other hand it would've lowered their morale and allowed for an easy wipe.
We don't attack them because it doesn't matter if we fight them here or Jangladesh. Better take the chance to have rebels jump in their face.

oz6VWK6.jpg

and they do.

HEZpnCY.jpg

Despite a massive advantage the fight's a lot closer than we'd like.
Mainly because they got infantry fire and a great general in general (heh)

sfYZJxk.jpg

Looks like our general learned a bit from our enemy's troops. Would've preferred siege ability though.
Not like we can fight anyone in the area for a while.
AE may start becoming a concern as well.

We chase them down and

XLugiTp.jpg

stackwipe.

Sl4xrsE.jpg

That siege leader bug again  already crashed the game once because of it.
It's just... stupid
Splitting your troops means you lose leadership over any siege. Does that sound like it makes sense to you? Can't be WAD.
Doesn't matter here though. We want to give them a province for their trouble. Only 5 dev. We'll grab 13 dev in total for ourselves.

joiOMpP.jpg

But not after getting two disease outbreaks in a row.
Stop cuddling and spreading germs! Start sieging! Jesus Christ.

Stopped asking them to attach to us, asked them to attach to Dhundar instead, giving us the siege. Not needed, but it's a matter of principal.
Mineminemine!

cJvLKWc.jpg

Almost a year later we get Dhundar and peace out both of them.

11CguYd.jpg

Not too shabby. Not great, but not too shabby either.

Problem are Timurids who have started digging into Delhi.
We're locked out. Maybe no-cb and vassalize them later on, who knows.
Mil acc is now possible because Malwa+Hadoti are friendly to us.
Still no idea how to deal with 15k separatists.
A bit of cash came in, manpower is low, but not 0 like we're used to.

Provinces need to get cored. Don't have any admin whatsoever. Mil tech 4 will come in soon, which will help a lot.
Sind is almost loyal again, Kathiawar will follow soon. No clue what to do after that.

Maybe use favors to eat Mewar. They have lots of allies. Declare on one of their allies to get them solo, then peace them out for a landbridge?
Bahmanis somehow manages to lose to Vijayanagar. Stop pandering to Bahmanis and ally Vijayanagar instead, calling them in with promise of land once their truce is up?

Many, many options.

Battles fought so far: 6
1k stack forgotten about - got wiped
1k stack in Kathiawar, newly recruited - defeated+wiped
Gujarat's retreating troops - wiped
Dhundar+Jasailmar after fighting rebels - defeated+wiped

2 nations have joined our family. Can't find any potential future family member, but there'll be more. There's always more.

No idea what to do about tech though. Events haven't been kind and admin points are completely drained.

This is gonna be fun.

Quick update for everyone's favorite pasttime activity: Rebels

iWxTfJQ.jpg

Yeah they're coming.
Still no clue what to do or how to get there.
Mewar decided Nagaur makes a great rival and now their vassal Hadoti won't let us through.

zamkjIz.jpg

That's a lot of unrest. How did we even get war exhaustion? Nagaur never fought any... know what, forget it.
The beautiful event increasing relations with Afghanistan increases unrest in Nagaur and Jangladesh until April 1455.
Nagaur has recent uprisings -100, no worries there. Need to get unrest down though. Can't even fight a single rebel steck atm.

8wR3DDi.jpg

We get around asking our allies for mil acc.
Possible path south is Mewat > Jaunpur > Bundelkhand > Ma-ahhh...
Mewar annexed something.
Baglana is outraged because of "wants your provinces".
Afghanistan has rivaled us as well.

Full lockdown. Maybe we can walk through Bahmanis later.

00cymzZ.jpg

Ah, who gives. 3 dev province. We increase autonomy and station our troops in Jangladesh.
Recruit to force limit. Only our starting cavalry unit, rest infantry. Can't afford horses.

tEVepkM.jpg

Malwa is almost ready to ally or marry us.
Could call them in against Mewar, but they have a lot of allies.
Enough favors with Multan are available.

MPBax9f.jpg

Who?
Oh yea, Mahra. Our vassal from last time. Arabian peninsula.
We take the relationship hit instead. Comes with +10 trade power somewhere.

Z9Ysoam.jpg

Immediately stated. 18.0 trade power, paper, 15 development.
Can't core anything, still haven't cored newly annexed land.

qFUbhOC.jpg

Another thing way too few players use. Pretty confident it's WAD.
Troops tick up on a month's change, but don't revolt until a few hours later.
They reach 100%, we use harsh treatment.

Gives us a bit of time.

Sind is loyal again, granting additional income to our treasury.

pYiTTft.jpg

Vijayanagar finishes their war.
They too hate us because we've eaten Hindu land.
Officially locked out. No way to get south.
Ally Malwa, declare on Mewar and hope for the best?

Tricky... reaaaaaally tricky.

This is a glorious mess. Roll on the next chapter.

YES SIR!

Mostly ledger checking and looking at nation's overview, looking for something to do.

NSIBLOe.jpg

Our nation was never made for peace.
Combat we can do without, but peace?
Gwalior has no allies. We fabricate immediately.
Playing with 3 diplomats always takes a lot of time to get used to. Usually I pick diplomatic ideas or influence right after administrative just for the diplomat.

Doesn't help that we should've started prepping AE managment already. No time. Gonna do it ad-hoc later.

WUh1Yt6.jpg

Last time it took them almost a year to tick up, now they're eager to jump at us immediately.
Still no way of getting access to our own nation.

sE62tvK.jpg

First decade has passed and we're on our way to become a GP.
5 dev into 86 is better than expected.

VlZNS3P.jpg

This however is worse than expected.
Could you not?

auRQOvq.jpg

We get 50 admin points for free, reduce war exhaustion and core another province.
All that's left is getting those full cores and assigning them to states.

Jaunpur rivaled Vijayanagar a while ago. Maybe we can drop our alliance and pick up the yellow blob south of us?
Nah, they desire our provinces. How about Bahmanis?

ZCkvjKu.jpg

yucky.gif

Could you not?
Very ambitious either way. Guess they're playing the old "you want mine? I want yours!" game.
Reaaaally mature. Take us for an example. We kidnap children, force them to work for us and toss them out the window once they're of no use anymore.
Like a true adult.

Malwa still refuses to ally or marry us. Too many diplomatic relations. They're in the process of integrating their vassal though.
Mental note taken. Gotta get that timing down and snipe the alliance.

D3hLtab.jpg

Kathiawar is almost loyal, Jandladesh has started ticking down. Gujarati got treated harshly again.
Just... stop... please...

FC5Xrge.jpg

Gwalior found an ally. Co-belligerent and go?
Only 17% warscore. Wouldn't even be necessary. Do they have any tiny allies?

OfRb1Xk.jpg

()/&$)?§$"/=)$§/)(%&=§($="§/$% hell no
Writing = thinking
Almost missed a tiny detail.
Nothing big, yknow, unimporant.
Bengal went on to guarantee them.

Definitely not in the mood to get spanked today, but without anything else to pick up it would be a war to vassalize Jharkand.
6 development. One core on Gondwana which is in the process of getting integrated by Malwa.
Not even worth spitting at them.

P82vJut.jpg

Malwa gets picked up, we get another full core, increasing FL to 11. Infantry, not cav. Still too expensive.
Aside from that, no idea what to do.

*sigh*

First time VH mode is felt. Even OPM Gwalior has too many troops to get overrun.
7k in the mountains, bold fighter as leader, one mil tech ahead.
Could hire a discipline advisor, but tech4 gives tactics and morale. No new unit types at tech4, good for us.
Prestige gives us 2.0% morale, our general is crap, yea, this is a lost cause.
Worst thing is this 0/1/2 leader who refuses to die.

Speed5 until 1700, then WC with our 86dev powerbase?
smile.gif

Maybe I can come up with something better.
Not sure.

Okay, targets, we need targets. Anyone?

7KV8MQE.jpg

Yes, no, maybe, f-you.

Any good news? Anything?

zK1KliS.jpg

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, YES. SO MUCH YES.
5 mil points is just what the doctor ordered.
Actually, he ordered a beer and is sleeping on my couch for a week. But that's a story for another time.

unlbA2l.jpg

On the other hand, negative stab doesn't help with rebel issues.
We haven't even cored our recent conquests yet alone fully cored them.
At least finances are somewhat stable with 0 ducats a month.

Could ask Jaunpur for their help without promising land. Gird has 9 dev, that's more than 10% of our total.
9 dev is more than 10% of our total...

crying-face_1f622.png

Some more positive news? Anything?

eoTNkX8.jpg

uhuh.gif

Just give us herpes next time.
We decide to let influence spread.
No real choice here. 50 admin points is painful.
What will happen if you don't just pay them off? First time in over 2000 hours I'm not chosing the first option.

N4k1afy.jpg

Ahmadabad is now at the mercy of merchants. Income skyrockets. We increase autonomy and grab 150 dip points.
The most worthless resource. No way we can do anything with it.
Maybe develop a province? Not sure.

DUoKvPN.jpg

Oh. That's what happens.
It's free though.
Income drops immediately. Who cares about ducats? Just saved 50 monarch points for a bit of cash and manpower.

We try to check out a few more potential targets and get a lovely little message telling us it's not possible to declare during a regency.
Yea... there was something about that... how long until we can declare again?

DSAENAy.jpg

...

SELECT beer FROM fridge
DROP TABLE sanity;

Could you possibly no-CB Maldives, vassalize them and have them fabricate on the southern minors/Ceylon?

Edit: or does lack of cores on your coastal territory prevent you from building ships?

Could you possibly no-CB Maldives, vassalize them and have them fabricate on the southern minors/Ceylon?

Edit: or does lack of cores on your coastal territory prevent you from building ships?

Regency :(

And southern minors are long gone. Everything dies extremely fast on VH.

Which is probably the biggest difference and the one I've been feeling the most, compared to normal. Usually you can idle around and gobble up minors left and right.

Why would anyone ever choose the first option?

Old relic.

Started the game, got hit by it in my first run and thought "Hey, it's only 50 admin points and the alternative probably means I'll have another province get hit by the same event in a few weeks"

In CivIV there was this "let them rebel" event, making a city unusable for one turn and you could lower pop by 1 to get rid of it or have a ~70% chance for it to continue another round.
After getting hit by bad RNG once (10 rounds. Thanks, Fortuna) I decided to just take the hit and move on.

When I saw the event in EUIV my first thought was that it works exactly the same, only worse. Spent 50 admin points to make it go away and never thought about it again.

Well this is keeping things interesting.

Okay, can't run away from this campaign.
Not that we'd ever do that. Who runs away from a 9 year regency, haha, haha, hahaha
emoticon-0106-crying.gif

rCxUBP1.jpg

Timurids are falling apart, but we can't jump the occasion to attack anything they guaranteed *sob*

GWux6on.jpg

At least our ruler will be better than expected ones he comes of age.
Diplomatic skills? Hah, we prefer aggressive diplomacy. Administrative gets picked.

gkZ5EjR.jpg

On the plus side, our regency council does allow us to unlock mil tech 4 earlier than expected. Vassals immediately turn loyal and start paying their fees.
Finances are stable again.
Had to harsh treatment once, rebels are back to 90% already again.
Past 12 months and next 8 years will be pretty much this. Wait for the 1st. Harsh treatment if at 100%. Rinse and repeat.
On the off chance there's no outbreak in 8 years.
Too hopeful? Maybe, but at least it gives us something to do.

JvBHoQ2.jpg

Ohh, maybe they take Multan's provinces with them. Sure, it's an ally, but we'd gain access to minors that haven't been eaten.

edT7HlT.jpg

Malwa shows us how it's done and almost fully annexes Bahmanis.
Glad we didn't ally the blue one.

We take a break in 1458, come back and

OLWv2Rs.jpg

Wow! Marwar declares a war for independ-

wait

what?

animated-smileys-thinking-01.gif

Where did they come from?
What is happening?
Wat?

ZB4sQ7u.jpg

Wat??

I...

WAT???

No visible occupation, no stabhit for them after declaring, no one supporting their independence, no rebels, no peacedeal.

Just... wat?

DAoRLXA.jpg

Well that episode was over fast.
Did they even fight?

lFB1UM5.jpg

Of course not. Of course they're going for our drilling army. Of course they're...

%$§%&§&&§$%"$%§%§%

UhizWyF.jpg

2.2 Army Tradition for free.
Guess I can't complain about a boring session anymore.
They siege down Dhundar and increase separatism.

A++, would let Nagaur's troops die to separatists again for no reason. Separatists that aren't ours whose origin doesn't make sense and... moving on. Moving on.

Ey1sMTT.jpg

Timurids collapse to rebels and Jaunpur decides it's time to expand.
A bit surprised they didn't attack them earlier.
On the plus side, they will end up with a landbridge to Mewar, allowing us to call them in without spending favors.

gHSXmYo.jpg

Breaking news: Man who thought he'd lost all hope loses last additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had.

Contrary to the belief of coworkers, neighbors, distant relatives, and our great leader himself, this so-called 'hopeless' man actually still had one infinitesimally small shred of hope, which he became aware of in the process of losing said last shred of hope.

Peace has cost more resources than war so far.

Breathe in, breathe out. This is how we planned it.
Yes, everything is going according to plan.

VtiGh8Q.jpg

Sind gets integrated and we delete all troops. Can't afford to go 4 over force limit.
Have to take a loan either way because events haven't been kind.

hY2nAsF.jpg

Vijayanagar is the kind of nation that's walking around with a jar of salt day in and day out, looking for open wounds to pour it all into.
We can't go to war, but thanks for warning us anyways.

Frick off.

Stupid sexy Vijayanagar.

ZZdFFuq.jpg

Starting to get Vietnam flashbacks from event pictures.
Unrest gets increased by 8 because Fortuna is on a girls night out and Zeus decided to transform into a Margarita.
She won't come home until tomorrow morning.

UNECtOR.jpg

Mewar is a full mil tech ahead. We keep losing mil points to harsh treatment.
These 3 provinces are half our total development. Can't give it up. Won't give it up.

JldX9KA.jpg

Yea, keep mocking us. You'll see. YOU ALL WILL COME TO SEE ONCE WE GET OUT OF THIS REGENCY. THE WHOLE WORLD WILL BURN.

We want candy :(

WKExbTG.jpg

We get candy :)

And finally, on a dark winter's night

0OzISln.jpg

our heir comes of age.
Infertile? You could've put his crown jewels on his bellybutton for all we care.
Alive and over 15, everything else is irrelevant.

Don't quote us on that.

And just like that we're done with the session and our sanity.
Nothing of value was lost.
Time to go to war.

Well of course it is time to go to war. To think you have had an enforced near-decade of peace - you must be getting really antsy to fight almost anyone by now :)

Liked the Hisn Kayfa AAR and liking this too so far! Big fan of the more gamey/mechanically oriented AARs compared to the ultra RP-heavy types that so many seem to prefer.

Thank you :)

Hopefully I can show a few war-related things like actual rally point sniping, last-resort mode and similar this game.
Hisn Kayfa was mostly politics. Not that I'd complain. A bit more politics would be lovely :D

Nagaur has been fascinating for me as well so far. Fingers crossed for the next few sessions ;)

Uncage all that pent up rage on some punk now.

Ohh, I will.

Final session. Want to end the day on a positive note.

2a9kWWv.jpg

Did I say end? Meant to say start :D
5/3/2. Average. Absolutely acceptable in standard runs and a god compared to our... was he 2/0/1? 0/1/2? What was his name even?

He's dead and a better man has taken his place, that's all that matters.

Where there is light, there is darkness.
Is what a wise man said after staring directly into the sun.

tat7lmT.jpg

Quick view at the continent. Transoxiania may ally us.
After how much trouble the gave us last time on normal despite us outgunning them it's tempting to go for it.

SD4B5c2.jpg

Mewar has pretender rebels sitting on their capital.
Remember taking over sieges? Maybe we can go for it again. Let's ask our allies.
Except for Multan. Multan looks dead. Very, very dead. Cadaverific.

kisbIO2.jpg

They get forced to annull treaties and we regret not improving trust.
Favors start ticking down. Not ideal.

Malwa should suffice. We'll have to promise them land, but they're stronger than Multan.
Moving into position when suddenly

Nkic4Ho.jpg

A wild stack appears! 9k units, no general?
Let the carnage begin.

LUzp9QA.jpg

Some people are too cool for school, Mewar is too cool to assign a general to its army.
Great start into the war.

MbuLx6m.jpg

Numbers are looking great. We already form a peacedeal in our mind.

All glory to Nagaur!

09giF9t.jpg

Blackflagged armies with a disgustingly weak 3/1/0/0 desperately try to enter their homeland again. We welcome them appropriately.

qXzNVen.jpg

By killing them.

It's how you say hello in Austria. Or was it Germany?
Mental note to watch The Last Crusade again.

av6gyIU.jpg

Their remaining 2k units without a general refuse to come back. We send a few troops to siege and the rest to Jaisalmer.
They try to enter, we come back.
Combat under the rule of our leader? We are as puzzled as you are, but dire times call for dire measures.

36woNl3.jpg

WIPED!

Ahh, this satisfying feeling of a well timed mass murder. Reminiscant of that summer we spent abroad.
Good times, good times.

3w8fond.jpg

Malwa had 2 allies, both of them low-dev OPMs.
Kangra manages to field 8k units nonetheless. We decide not to push further and grant Malwa the opportunity to start doing something.

wIP5gIq.jpg

Decent drop for a mere 4 months of warfare.

Maybe it's time for a good whiskey?

jNk8NEF.jpg

But first we need to wrap it up. They throw a good punch, but our vassal is ready to reinforce.
Despite higher losses we manage to win the battle for additional warscore and loads of army tradition.

Makes sense. Killing loyal soldiers is a tradition in our realm after all.

CYM0Gdv.jpg

Malwa has started being useful as well.
One stack gets sent home packing, the other one in Dhundar will be trampled over.
Dooooon't stop
siiieeeging
hold on to that *splarghb*

IjKjDJl.jpg

Atrocious war contribution.
Malwa has been sieging down both minors. Chanda and Kangra will both get a white peace as soon as they accept. Maybe peace them out for cash and war reps.
Monarch points are scarce enough already and neither position is strategically relevant.
Neither of them has cores anywhere too. No point in vassalizing them.

HdNassk.jpg

Malwa ran into Mewar's pretender rebels heads first, we clean up the rest.
Next few months are mostly us running away from combat to make sure Malwa can siege in peace.
No combat to see.

lG2HeuV.jpg

Their final stack tries to unsiege the war goal. Smart move. Almost.
Our troops show them what they're made of, Malwa joins from the south.
2 battles later, they're ready to surrender.

IhUqz5Y.jpg

NO PRISONERS!

Time to pick apart their remains.

fGhH8XS.jpg

Their nation's remains of course. Who enjoys digging around in a corpse?
Probably... let's not go there.
We clean up our borders and avoid taking the gold mine for several reasons.
Our finances are decent enough for us to survive without it.

Mewar's provinces have Rajput traditions, increasing Core-Creation-Costs by 50%.
Disgusting, but what can you do.

TsLgpBa.jpg

Better.
Much, much better.

What a beautiful sight our nation is.

A minor nuisance in the corner of our eyes.
Fleet maintenance? From integrating Sind. Deleted.

HzutnKY.jpg

Slowly inching closer towards a top8 spot.
If you were to ask us, we should start at #1 no matter our starting position.
It's a matter of respect.

The landbridge we desired is here, it's wider than expected and our nation is clearly visible on the map!

A deep breath, a nice Whiskey and a good night's rest in the near future

and then on to the next one
