Keeps faction system, does not get estates.

Merchant Republics lose their factions if the new expansion is enabled and get estates instead.
Will merchant republics have stronger than normal factions? Their faction system was pretty powerful and was really the only thing keeping them even somewhat viable after their ten billion nerfs.

It's in the name!
No but, seriously speaking just add the Peasantry/gentry Estate and attach some variables so people can get them through various means.

They make the bread everyone eats after all...

It would be cool if the lest advanced tech groups had a estate like Western Powers/Western Traders. Giving them control over provinces would give you prestige hits as well as losing trade power from the provinces.

On the other hand they would be the key to unlock things like western arms trade (-%tech cost) and Westernization. Events could do thing like affecting relations with colonizers e.g. giving them casus belli (trade Dispute) with them.

Then onecould more properly play an isolationist (Japan) country and also make westernization more interesting.

Revolutionary! Absolutely astonishing! Thank you for this! I don't have words for this! And now you will be able to go even further with this....

This will mean a lot of work with integration though. But I would like to agree on that Parliament ≠ Nobility. The two are different. This however is a good way of representing the French États Généraux if we can call upon all of them in a meeting. Some countries might need a peasntry estate too, depends on how it worked there.

Would it be an idea that having advisors from a certain estate (theologican, trader, commandant etc.) improves your standing with that estate?

And that you will get certain events regarding this?

Will Poland Elections be taken care with the use of Nobility Estate or still be by donating Legitimacy? Will it be possible (achievement maybe) to finish Polish historical flavour and getting Absolute Monarchy with Jagiellons on the throne?

Nice, new tab! Brings more life to the people of your realm.

This can perhaps give more meaning to the Espionage idea group, allowing you to influence the Estates of another country to weaken them from within? Or idea group/National idea for squeezing more efficiency out of your own at a lower cost?

So much potential :)

this will likely wipe out most of my regrets regarding the removal of French vassal states--French divisions may be neatly simulated through powerful Nobility in charge of the former vassals' territories. they even might bid for independence occasionally! please make it happen. :)

this feature could also make internal strife within the Commonwealth much more realistic. such a great feature, possibly!

Will certain (major) nations trend or push towards a certain Estate ratio so they resemble their real life historical counterparts?

Do legitimacy, republican tradition, and devotion affect the estates? Say by providing a flat boost to the respective loyalties?

Are the rebels that spawn from disloyal or extremely powerful estates cause purely negative effects or are they generally revolutionaries trying to impose a preferred form of government (eg: nobles -> feudal monarchy, bourgeoisie -> merchant republic, clergy -> theocracy)?

Can someone intentionally limit a specific estate's power to nothing, making them irrelevant in the end? Say if you wanted to eliminate the clergy or nobility's power entirely, for example. Maybe this could be a requirement for certain voluntary government changes or reforms?

Merchant Republics are by FAR the strongest government form even without the factions.

I would like to rework the way elective monarchy works, but don't have any solid plans there yet.

Westernisation could probably be handled with this. You get pro-western faction, that either eventually wins and country westernises(like Russia), or it get`s defeated and country isolates as China or Japan.

Holy hell this is.....yeah, this is too great to put to words.

One thing that hasn't been questioned yet: will the estates gives us goals? Historically, a powerful nobility would want to pursue claims while burghers increase trade and have colonies and priests to keep the religious unity of the country. Will stuff like that affect the opinion of the estates for you? Or will it be purely based on random events and granting land?

It's something we're discussing but have yet to implement.
