Finding nothing that compromises my values in the current coalition, I approve the coalition.

Good luck, Kanzler von Schwaben.

~Frederick Carile, Reichprasident

((I'm still allowed to submit legislation, right? And I probably need to give some kind of inaugural speech.))

((No reason you can't submit legislation ideas; you just can't vote on them.))

(( What are our current social reforms? What social reform movements are there, if any? ))

((We have trinket health care and acceptable school systems; no other reforms. Largest reforms are for minimum wage, better schools, and working conditions, in that order. Minimum wage is at over 5 million right now.))

With the cabinet formed, ministers may put forward their four year proposals at any time. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court permits Herr Anderson to serve as Minister of the Interior, but if his proposed bill is defeated, he must either swear the oath or resign his office.

Ferdinand von Hohenzollern will be put on trial as soon as Herr Anderson selects a Commander for the Gendarmerie to serve as prosecutor. Herr von Hohenzollern may elect to speak in his own defense, confess to his crimes and await sentencing, or seek out qualified counsel.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

((So our current tax load is 40% on the poor and the middle class with 45% on the rich still, correct?))
Reichpräsident Carile seeing fit to trust me with his previous responsibilities, I shall do as best I can to fill his shoes.

A study of the well-being of our citizens has revealed that while the lower classes are thriving even under their current tax burdens, the hard-working artisans and small-scale manufacturers are rarely far away from starving despite their seemingly greater means. I can only conclude that, as great as the material resources of Germany are, they are not bountiful enough to supply the needs of watchmakers, winepressers, and other skilled craftsmen if they seek a steady income. I propose that a small subsidy be paid on foreign imports to make the necessary supply within the financial grasp of our artisans.
((Propose a -1% or -2% tariff with minor tax increases across the board if necessary to stay positive. Otherwise the same))

Now speaking in my role as Stadtholder and not as Minister of Finance, I find that emphasizing unity within the Republic could only be to the common good given the recent riots and rebellions. A statue commemorating the founding of the Republic of Germany is needed now more than ever. As is a government unanimous in its loyalty to the idea of Germany. ((Support The Niederwalddenkmal, Oppose Repealing Mandatory Oath))

((We're at 45 for the rich and middle class; 40 for the poor.

Also, no voting yet. ;) People can still suggest new amendments, after all.))

I must first congratulate our new president on his victory. I am sure he will govern with all due care and tact.

Further, I must offer my best wishes – despite my continued status as a member of the opposition – to the new cabinet. It is very encouraging to see the formation of such a liberal government – even if the Alliance were excluded from talks.

~G. A. Servatius van Kloetinge

Herr Präsident of the Conclave of Stadtholders,

I wish to congratulate Herr Carile with his victory in the election of Reichspräsident and I hope he will set a standard of prudency and sobriety that all your successors can follow. I also wish to thank Herr Von Swaben for appointing me as Minister of Education and I do hereby accept the duties, limits and privileges of the office and I swear that I will uphold its integrity as I have done these past four years. I wish to propose a minimum wage bill, to protect the peoples of Germany from mistreatment by the capitalists who have become enamoured by the idea of more profit. The German Academy of Sciences will finish their current research, following the completion of said research, the German Academy of Sciences will research Revolution & Counterrevolution, to better understand the peoples living in the republic, like the Dutch, to help them create a society where all who live in Germany can feel at home and do not have the need to rise up against the government, Point Defence System, to furthur advance German defence stratagies to help the Armed Forces protect the people of Germany in the future, Steam Turbine, to help the German Industry reach new heights, Iron Breeched-loaded Artillery, to help our Armed Forces who still lack the technology to offensively fight threats to the republic effectively, Private Bank Money Bill Printing, to help regulate a constant stream of money on the market, to prevent shortages and inflation and finally Social Science, to better understand the German society, to help us protect and serve it.

Dr. Franz von Bavel-Timmermans,
Minister of Education, Leader of the SLD,
Stadtholder of Rotterdam

The Sozialiche Daily
A new figure rises to the head of Sozialiche Politics
This honorable newspaper - formerly the marxist daily - is reporting the rise of a new contender to the throne of the SP. After the disgraced diplomat Aderlbert af Ambroose's execution yesterday, a new figure, Axel Wouters of the Assembly, has gathered an influential following and appears to be ready to fill the void left by af Ambroose. Wouters, 39, was the son of a peasant in Brussels. After attending many Sozialiche rallies, he found himself protege of a wealthy statdholder, and quickly worked his way up the ranks in politics, and, like Ambroose became a renowned diplomat.

Analysis of results of the 1875 General Election

The National Assembly of the Republic of Germany
Government: Yellow: UAI(109) Green: NLPD(220)
Opposition: Dark Blue: Imperialists(20) Blue: HUN(44) Light Blue: NS(43) Dark Yellow: DDA(20) Red: SP(44)

Berlin, Deutschland -
The 1875 General Elections have resulted in a landslide victory for the liberal parties, especially for die Nationalliberalen Partei Deutschland, who as of yesterday control 220 seats of the total of 500 seats. The Nationalliberalen Partei Deutschland and the Unger-Ash Initiative recieved the majority of their support from former New Society and Hohenzollern Unger Nationalistische Partei voters, who, as of the first 1870 General Election, have been shifting from Traditional Conservatives to the more left Classical Liberalism of the NLPD and the UAI, this is also manifested in the recent loss of votes of the Imperialists, who, after winning 44 and 46 seats in the first and second 1870 General Elections respectively, have fallen to 20 seats in the 1875 election. Together the Right Parties (HUN, New Society and the Imperialists)fell from 193 seats and 217 seats in the first and second 1870 General Election respectively to 107 seats in the 1875 General Election, therefore one could safely concluded that the right parties were the losers in the General Election, even the New Society, who did partake in Cabinet-Von Schwaben I, lost around half of its electorate between the elections.

The UAI, however, did not actually win in the 1875 Generel Election compared to its 1870 and even its 1867 showing. The UAI was the major Liberal party of Germany, recieving more votes than the NLPD in every election where they both partook, yet the UAI's majority flinced, reaching an all time low in the first election of 1870, with 0,28% difference in the vote. After the Anderson scandal and the fall of the first UAI (and liberal) government and the subsequent Von Schwaben caretaker administration, the NLPD finally became more popular than the UAI, recieving 132 seats to the UAI's 80 seats. The UAI is finally recovering from the scandal, however, the UAI still controls less seats than after the first 1870 General Election and the 1867 General Election, however, one could safely conclude that the UAI will not regain its position as main Liberal Party in the coming years, most certainly not with the popular NLPD Kanzler, Konrad von Swaben, on the helm of NLPD.

The Deutsche Demokratische Allianz went from 21 and 22 in the 1870 General Elections to 20 seats in the 1875 General Election, the party has maintained its grip on around four percent of the electorate, the loss in seats is due to the large amount of seats that the Assembly possess and not a radical change in the DDA electorate as seen with the New Society, the HUN, Imperialists, UAI and the NLPD.

The Sozialistische Partei, did, however, lose seats, they won 50 seats after the last 1870 General Election compared to 44 in the General Election of 1875, this can be explained by the recent socialist militia uprising, which caused the popularity of the Sozialistische Partei to drop, but due to the pro-government stance of a few more vocal members of the party, like Stadtholder Dr. F. W. von Bavel-Timmermans, the damage caused was largely controlled.

The Conclave of Stadtholders of the Republic of Germany
Government: Yellow: UAI(15) Green: NLPD(30) Orange: SLD(19)
Opposition: Dark Blue: Imperialists(9) Blue: HUN(10) Light Blue: NS(9) Dark Yellow: DDA(8)
Remaining: Präsident of the Conclave(NLPD) Grey: Vacant(12)

The Conclave of Stadtholders was less interesting than the National Assembly due to the lack of elections with subsequent victories which shocked the nation. The Sozial Liberale Demokraten, a group of former SP members who rebelled after fellow Stadtholder Dr. F. W. von Bavel-Timmermans was expulsed from the party, became a potent group in the Conclave, and due to their moderate thinking compared to the extreme socialists of the SP, the SLD finally broke the enourmes growth that the Liberal Parties had experienced in the Conclave in the last decade. The SLD faction grew to 19 Stadtholders, compared to the 13 Stadtholders of the SP after the 1870 General Elections, thus the SLD could safely concluded that the moderate ideology of the faction could count on more support than the SP, which may cause interesting scenarios for both parties.

Mere moments after the first Reichspräsident, Herr Frederic Carile, was chosen by the National Assembly and the Conclave of Stadtholders, a coalition was announced by the NLPD and the UAI, however due to the lack of support in the Conclave of Stadtholders, the Sozial Liberale Demokraten were given a ministry, to gain a majority in the Conclave, which is needed for a Cabinet which will focus on domestic issues. Time can only tell if the Liberals and the SLD remain as popular as in the 1875 General Election, however, many think that Konrad von Schwaben's last ministry will be as successful as his first two, but only time can tell.

Disappointing to see such a liberal coalition running our country. Hopefully it'll last as long as the last one.

It is gratifying to see the opposition continuing their tradition of magnanimity in defeat.

I am glad to finally see a truly liberal coalition in power. Let us hope they can achieve greatness abroad and extend rights to all citizens at home.

I must express concern over the potential passage of a minimum wage requirement, as it will pose harsh restrictions on our business community. However, I agree with the implementation of the proposal, as we should not ignore the voices of millions of citizens who believe a minimum wage wild help them achieve Total Liberation.

Finally, I requesr to be reinstated as Commander of the Gendarmerie. The Republic needs a man who is committed to protecting the rights of all citizens but will also destroy Germany's enemies when the time calls as I did during the Socialist Uprising.

Deputy Minister of Education

Herr von Bavel-Timmermans's proposal for a minimum wage is accepted for our upcoming ballot. Other measures may still be proposed until 10 PM Monday evening (-6 GMT)

I suppose the one benefit of having an entirely liberal cabinet is that when everything goes wrong, everyone will know who to blame.

Having been a member of this Assembly for very nearly a quarter of a decade, and having in that time known of no real instances on which the nation's right wing has been completely out of power, it is truly appalling to witness the bitterness with which some amongst their ranks exit government. Those who make snide remarks towards the new government do themselves no favours. Certainly, such remarks seem poor reward for a ministry composed of some men who have regarded the rightist dominance with complete respect for the past decades.

I ask, for all of our sakes, that this puerile grovelling and complaining cease. It is not at all becoming of elected representatives of the greatest democracy in the world.

((Quick question for Av: as far as I can tell, and judging solely by active players, Herr Servatius van Kloetinge is now the Father of the House. Am I correct in this regard, or have I missed someone out?))

((What do you mean by "Father of the House?"))

I merely speak my mind. It is hard to trust an entirely liberal cabinet after the last one tried to seize power through deceit and trickery, resulting in the coalition's collapse and a scandal for the UAI.

- Wilhelm von Vandenburg

((I think that means that he's the oldest active character?))

((In that case, Jack LEagle and alxeu are both older, born in 1805/1806 respectively.))
