I will cast my vote on Franz von Bavel-Timmermans as Reichspräsident.

~ Konrad von Schwaben

((Yes))

I, Gerrit Aldo Servatius van Kloetinge, do solemnly swear my lasting fealty to the Republic of Germany, and her servants, according to law. I do so in the presence of her elected representatives, whom I view as the firmest symbols of her democratic tradition.

So help me God.

I refuse to vote for any President. They are all inept, incompetent and corrupt.

You are too kind, Herr von Altmark.

((You must have missed the Home Rule announcement))

(( Aah, that makes more sense. Thanks. ))

---

I, Karl Grimualdo Adimari, do solemnly swear that I will to the utmost of my power preserve, defend and uphold the Constitution, observe the Laws, promote the general welfare of the People, and sustain the union, integrity and independence of the Republic of Germany, so help me God.

I am flattered by this cross-party support for my Presidency, coming as it does from both ends of the political spectrum. I therefore vote for myself as Reichspräsident.

---

(( To my mind, the relationship between Upper House in-game votes and Conclave positions has always been a bit fuzzy. So allowing independents to take a part of that pie sounds fine to me. I'm going to vote Yes. ))

((Yes.))

I, Maximillian von Wittelsbach, do solemnly swear my faith and loyalty to the German Republic.

I also vote for Herr Adimari.

Konrad von Schwaben walks up the talking podium, with a servant walking straight behind him with a bible. He puts his right hand in the air and the left on the bible and says:

"I swear on the name of god, that I will protect our Republic from any harm with my own life in the front lines."

I swear, with both the Lord God and my Nation as my witness, to uphold the ideals of the Republic, and to protect her from those that would do her harm, so help me god.

((The oaths are lovely, but don't forget to vote in both the meta-vote and Presidential election. :)))

((Yes to independent Presidential candidates))

((Yes))

((I refuse to vote))

((I'm noticing a pattern here.... Any reason why you've decided to vote no to everything, other than being the epitome of reactionary? :p))

I, Stadtholder Walther Herwig, swear before God and my countrymen that I will be loyal to the Republic of Germany and all of the virtues she stands for, to protect all of her citizens and their rights, and to oppose her enemies within or without.

In accordance with this oath, I find Ludwig Fredrik Anderson to be the finest candidate for Reichspräsident to be found in our body politic.

((No on the independent parties))

Due to personal concerns, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the office of President, and instead endorse Herr Adimari for the Presidency. I encourage all of my supporters to vote likewise, for Herr Adimari has proven himself to be a strong, moderate leader who can unite the German people.

~ Friedrich von Hohenstaufen, Chief of the General Staff

I will follow Herr Hohenstaufen's lead, even if I personally think he is the best possible candidate.

Fritz von Hohenzollern

((Gen. Marshall -- no oath = no vote. ;)))

I refuse to swear an oath of allegiance to Germany. My opposition to a ragtag bunch of Socialists should be completely out of question and I will not engage in futile nationalism.

Das ist eine kühne Strategie, Baumwolle. Let's see if it pays off. I must note that I am disappointed a scion of Hohenzollern would betray his country. My lovely wife, a Hohenzollern, is beside herself at the very concept that a Hohenzollern would disrespect his family in such a way. Such madness.

- Wittelsbach

To whom it may concern,

Are you seriously requiring people to swear oaths of allegiance to ensure they're not rebellious? That's no guarantee they won't go back on their word the minute your back is turned. For shame upon those who recommend this stupid, asinine idea.

Cordially yours,
Otto von Bismarck

You were suspiciously absent when we were voting on this "futile nationalism." It is the law of the land. Maybe you have something to hide?
