Holy Crap. Labour on seven seats... I think it's time Antonine defected. :)

But at least one of them's Gaitskell, right? It's the least you can do, Tommy. :D

Well, even though Leeds South is a pretty safe seat it would probably go on those figures. Fortunately, Huyton and Belper are even less safe. :)

Well with the Labour gone the socialist can't pose a serious threat other than the communists. And frankly they are too alienated from the rest of the population to ever be a major player again. But looks like the National Liberals go away too, so it will become a two party system between the Conservatives-Liberals and the Communists as a third wheel complaining

Well, you know what they say: you can't have your Gaitskell and seat him too. :D

(I apologise.)

No, clearly now is the time to start the League of Young Liberals/Rutland Method faction within the Liberals.

And with the collapse of the National Liberals, I think it would be a good idea to offer them the opportunity to rejoin the one true Liberal party and let them bring their differing ideas to our Liberal Assembly to stand or fall on their own merits.

Liberalism United!

(Kick-off versus Chelsea at 10am, Tuesday)

First off, never!

Secondly, go blue!

How about instead of merging two very different parties we organise a seven-a-side match between the NatLibs and Labour? That will be about all they'll be good for in the next parliament, after all. :D

What's so awesome about Kaitsgell? All I remember is he done prescription charges or somnething

Largely in his favour is the fact that his isn't a Bevanite.

there is something interesting happening in Leeds South and it will be one of the three constituencies we look at in the election update .... ;)

Forget about Leeds South, what about Sunderland South? I've got a nice well paid job with good expenses to keep, here! :p

((Well, I had to remove Lobenswert and Mr. Sometimes to make room for some new people))

One of them is me right? Right!? I like to be included in things.

Well with the Labour gone the socialist can't pose a serious threat other than the communists.

Just you wait until we get a pan-european green social democratic party!

And the great thing is that it's still socially acceptable! :p

Could we get a community effort going to clarify Britain's Commonwealth and military relations? (An official statement from Tommy would of course be helpful).

I realise that Commonwealth membership and whether or not the Crown is shared might not have any gameplay effects. However, at least for me, imaging the niceties and quirks that followed in the wake of decolonisation would make the story of this alternate cold war more enjoyable. Of particular concern/interest, I'd like to know what people think of whether in this reality, Ireland is still a member and a monarchy, if the Commonwealth would allow for republics now, if the term dominion ought to be supplanted by Commonwealth and the status of Somalia. I've tried to compile a list based on the info in the AAR, and I would be very grateful if people could let me know if I've overlooked anything.

The Commonwealth:

Commonwealth realms

Kingdom of Ireland?
Dominion(?) of Canada
Dominion(?) of Australia
Dominion(?) of New Zealand
Dominion(?) of South Africa
Dominion(?) of India
Dominion(?) of Pakistan
Dominion of Sudan?
Dominion of Ceylon?

Home rule
Somalia?
Central African Federation
West Indian Federation

Colonies/Protectorates

Cyprus
Malta
Gibraltar

Trucial states
Aden
Bahrain
Kuwait

Kenya
Uganda
Tanganyika
Zanzibar
Bechuanaland
Basutoland
Swaziland
Seychelles
Mauritius

Nigeria
Gold Coast
Gambia
Sierre Leone

Honduras?
Guyana?
Falklands

Western Pacific Territories
Hong Kong
Brunei
Bhutan??

Independent countries
Malaysia
Jordan
Sudan?
Ceylon?

Former members
Republic of Ireland?

Former colonies/protectorates, never a member
Somalia?
Eritrea

I'll provide a complete list after the next gameplay update as things are liable to change a lot given we are coming into the 1960s.

I highly doubt it, considering O'Connell didn't get his way. I further doubt they are still in the Commonwealth, though I'm open to the possibility of being surprised. :)

At least Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa ate dominions. Maybe India and Pakistan too. But they most likely went the historical route of ending their dominionship. But that would put these "white colonies" under the British Empire technically, and not just being part of the Commonwealth as it is today.

Oh God, only 9 hours left!
What changes will these hours bring? Will they be shocking, or expected?
The only thing we can do is wait.
