So Attlee and his government to to fight another day - but the election has made this government desperately weak. If Labour start to fall apart, or become too radical for the Liberals, then Winston and friends are waiting quietly in the corner to accept Liberal support.

Come on give us a few constituency results, or at least a list of who will form the next cabinet.

Godspeed, Mister Attlee!

The cabinet would be too much effort to keep updated, but I'll do three key constituency results for each election update from now on. I'll edit them into the last update. Now to go make them up :p. Check the update again in an hour and they should be in.

Victory snatched right out of our grasp! Bah, I'm going to need a really strong cup of tea to manage through another Labour government. Although they'll probably hand Ceylon to Stalin before I've finished it.

Yet another time the majority of the party's will is ignored. The puppet prime minister and his supporters are effectively a faction within the so-called Liberals.

On the positive side of events, it was good to see the Stalinists lose almost all their influence in the working class constituencies... The workers of Britain have realised that their future is neither with Stalin and his lackeys, nor with so-called moderates keep insisting on minority rule, ostracising their opinions.

Well I'm glad someone noticed the Bevanites historically loathed the Soviets, its was starting to get a bit entryist around here...

Very interesting knife edge results. Well as long as Attlee doesn't embark on any major wars that force him to cut the welfare state I'm sure the party will remain strong and united

So Labour gets a 8% swing for and loses seats? Must be Westminster, the emphysemic grandmother of parliaments!

As per Tanzhang's request the update now includes the results for three choice constituencies.

Now, with a view closer to the ground, you can see Communist Party leader Harry Pollitt attempt to hold off the advances of a Bevanite Labour candidate in Rhonnda East, left leaning independent J P Preistley struggle to retain his seat in Chelmsford and a National Liberal inclined towards the ideas of Hayek struggle to unseat the Labour MP for Barnet.

Well, if you do not like Mister Attlee (and why wouldn't you? He is a scholar and a gentleman), you could attempt to oust him from the leadership of Labour... and see the Conservatives seize the government, as the Liberals seem wont to ally with the Stalinists, as you deem them. This 'puppet prime minister', as you call the honourable Mister Attlee, is the only thing keeping the government together and out of the hands of the far right. I should think you should give him a bit more respect, personally. Also, ninety-two seats, give or take, support the more moderate view of Labour. It's not a majority, but it's hardly something that lacks power.

Attlee isn't my first choice, but he's a damn sight better than Churchill, and moderate socialism is better than a reactionary rollback of socialist reforms. Best to accept compromise for now and keep the Liberals on-side.

Attlee rules Britain not with the help of the vast majority of his party, but with a middle class "charity" political organisation. He should consider the needs and opinions of those who have elected him first, before allying with those who think they can "buy out" their crimes against the working class with a few tokens.

Go, get him, brave worker! Labour Party must forever be free of these traitors of the working class! Force out the weaklings and moderates!
The National Bolshevik Workers' Union stands with you, glorious proletariat, it's now or never! Onwards!

Great little titbits on the individual elections Tommy, great touch.

Can I be the first to suggest after that result that in the face of the parochial Tory and radical-right National Liberal cabal, Labour and the Liberals must form an 'understanding' at the next election? Combined our parties got 51% of the vote, which in another situation would lead to a crippling super-majority yet we barely cross the finish line.

Both parties, (including the Bevanites) are united behind the welfare state and democracy, against Stalinism and freebooter capitalism. Hell in the post war period the Liberals were sometimes to the left of Labour. Attlee is just the man to lead this multi-factional progressive alliance forward.

Thank you, sir, for showing some reason, unlike...

Again, you do realize Labour alone, or even with the Communists, isn't enough to form a majority party. Either you accept the moderate rule and get the Liberals in a coalition, or you fail to form a majority and the Conservatives will gladly take the Liberals in and form the majority. Also, I'd wait to see what Mister Attlee does before criticizing him so harshly. Did you dislike his rule over the last four years so much that you hold him in such disdain? He's committed to much the same level of social policies as you radicals...

Good good, LSE is gaining more importance...
Let the Keynesians tremble!

What a shame that some mysterious new posters appeared just before the polls closed and voted for the leftists... ;)

Let me remind you that Attlee was the one who backed the reactionary Persians, a regime close to pre-feudal age despotism, and issued the orders which led to the massacre of Greek protesters in an election rally in Athens, effectively initiating the civil war which put the reactionary right much like those NLP and Torries you seem to worry about, in power.

Attlee is an opportunist, an opportunist of the worst kind (if there ever was one of the "good" kind), like his whole "moderate" faction which tends to swing from one side to another.

Hear hear!
To the barricades my comrades, lets bring this wicked government down!

What? Are you daft? Mister Attlee's first term was last election. And even if this were allegory, I cannot think of what it might refer to that has occurred in the last four years. Palestine? India? Countries your faction would have dealt with in entirely the same fashion. Pray explain what the bloody hell you're going on about?

Also, I worry less about the reactionary right than I do the naive far left. At least their arguments, on occasion, make sense, certain members excluded. I merely mention the Conservatives time and again as I would think you would find them far less palatable than Mister Attlee, who at least shares some similar views.

A divided left is a weak left. It is better that a moderate socialist be our PM than a reactionary conservative.

This just in: NLP allies with the Stalinist CPGB in order to bring down the "wicked" Democratic Socialist government. :D

The cabinet would be too much effort to keep updated,

You wouldn't have to fill in every little junior minister, just tell us the 8 or 10 most important posts so we know who's who. :)
