Beware the Alien, the mutant, the Heretic. The Khan shall soon taste of Roman steel....
After playing 200 hours I have to say that although EU4 isn't focused on personal relations it is actually much more complex - real diplomacy and trade alone make it much more challenging than CK2 IMHO. And yes, it will recognize it as Roman Empire in a converted saveWhen you make the transfer to EUIV you will face 2 disappointments. First of all the game has not half the depth of what I see in this AAR (haven't played CK2) and second it wont recognize the Roman empire as it is, it will recognize it as a Greek cultured nation and will give you the decision to reform the byzantine empire...
Also religion and the HRE, I don't know what will happen with that but it will be a mess.
Venerate Saint Markos and pray to Our Lord Iesus Kristos for the Augustus and the Imperium! It all began with the act of Saint Markos, when he immolated his children, as the lambs of God, in order to assure the future of the only one True Empire. Alas, the Lord this time did not hold the hand ofAbrahamMarkos.
Xenos should be cast out of Europe!
I'm really curious as to what the Imperium's navy looks like. Surely, lots of gold and eagles everywhere.
And obligatory angels for the glory of the House Angelos! And flamethrowers, dont forget the flamethrowers!
Well the Byzies used hand held ones too:

Me too! It was completely OP, you just need to put them in gate and they could obliterate thousands. I love the smell of pyr rhomaïkon in the morning...I once defended Constantinople from an entire Venetian army with just a single unit of Greek Firethrowers in Medieval II: Total War:Crusades
Or would he? He will face the Iron Khan for sure however.Beware the Alien, the mutant, the Heretic. The Khan shall soon taste of Roman steel....
Yes, that's the plan - while Iron Khan and Khagan fight over the East the Imperium should reconquer Moesia And the Aztec invasion would be much worse if only Paradox didn't forget to give them great holy war weight in the files - they could use them but the AI can't choose any kingdom as target without the weight. So yeah, there could have been twice as much invasions...Ack!
I hope that Timur and the Il-Khanate fight each other to a stalemate - maybe it will give you an opportunity to retakeBulgariaMoesia. But even if the Hordes manage to exhaust themselves fighting amongst each other, there's still the fact that the Aztec Empire keeps growing and growing... Pisa, hated Pisa, now forms a protective barrier between Roman Italia and the barren wastelands of Francia and Germania. It can't be much longer before the Aztecs come knocking on your door.
And so it begins ...
This is the worst time when they could appear - there are a bunch of independent high chiefs in Persia and Mesopotamia and if the Ilkhanata looses its troops during the war, there without a doubt will be more faction wars -> more independent high chiefs -> Iron Khan's realm growing very quickly.Ok, this is not the ideal time for the Timurids to appear. If they had appeard while the Aztecs were in a civil war and the Khanate was somewhat intact, it would far better than now, where the Aztecs just finished a highly sucessful war versus the now even more than usual not Holy, not Roman, and definitely not a Empire and when the Khan just was forced to give independence to some vassals ( those will probably will be munched as breakfast by the Timurids ) and increased the crown Authority ( assuring a good bunch of rebelious heads in the case the Khan loses the war with the Timurids )...
Anyway, I guess this is probably the last time you have in the game before EU IV to have a free hand in the west. Do you think you can take on the Aztecs ?
Obviously! If God is with us than who is against the Romaioi?Wow, things are just going great for the Empire.

BTW "xenos" is a singular form (which for some reasons is used as plural in W40k), plural form is "xenoi".

Honestly I don't think it would be a good idea - this is the best time to reconquer Moesia, not to attack Aztecs. Timurids are one or two quick wars (probably) from bordering the Imperium, I don't want to loose troops and gold to fight Aztecs so that I will have to face Iron Khan weakened.
Obviously! If God is with us than who is against the Romaioi?
...
Wait, that would mean-
Hey Groogy, sorry for bothering you once again but considering I'm currently writing AAR which I would like to continue in EU4, so I would really like to know for 100% and have a clear answer - will it be possible to play EU4 using exported save from pre-2.1 CK2?
Sorry for being a nuisance but it's kinda important to me
However, since the old save can't be loaded and exported in 2.1 this means that I should finish the gameplay before the RoI is out (Steam autoupdate and all this). Which means during this weekend I'm going to play until 1444, export the save and finish CK2 part of this AAR - better safe than sorry since I would definitely hate it if there would be some problems with continuing this in EU4. But only finish this in-game - it would take a few weeks at least before all the chapters are released considering that chapter 21 describes the year 1373-1380, which leaves 64 years still to be written down.It should be.
Just letting you know.
Just letting you know.
IMPORTANT
Since there is 2.1 patch and RoI coming on Monday there is a problem of compatibility and exporting save to EU4:

Honestly I don't know - maybe he's hiding somewhere in Scotland. Still, heretics have way too low MA to even dream about the crusade.Btw does Pope exist anymore? I doubt there are many Catholics left but crusade would help a bit.
Syphilis, syphilis everywhere. All i saw was syphilis...
You are welcome.Thank you for the update, I look forward for your future updates
Do whatever you need to do, this story cannot be allowed to die unfinished.
Yeah, well I think I won't take the risk of anything going wrong. It probably would work like it's been said by Doomdark and Groogy but if something goes wrong than the EU4 half of the AAR would be lost. I have some save backups from earlier years but they won't work with 2.1 anyways - btw if I only knew about RoI I would start this AAR in April to avoid all these issues. This being said, I think the safest way is to just finish the CK2 part of the AAR before RoI release, export it and then wait for the 2.1 patch. After the release if everything is still going to work, well, I'm still going to have 1444-1453 period to play, although it would be tricky to explain story-wise (calendar reform? EU4 starts in 1444 year). It has been confirmed that there will be a beta stream for the current version (2.04) on steam, so that we can finish our games/ not play with India. I don't know if it will still let achievements fire.

"I should also mention that due to the drastic changes we are making to the game, old save games will not remain compatible with version 2.1! However, version 2.0.4 will remain available as a beta branch on Steam."

It has many names:Cough, cough...Hellinikon my Imperator, Hellinikon...Cough, Cough..... Damn cold....
Although the term "Greek fire" has been general in English and most other languages since the Crusades, in the original Byzantine sources it is called by a variety of names, such as "sea fire" (Ancient Greek: πῦρ θαλάσσιον pyr thalássion), "Roman fire" (πῦρ ῥωμαϊκόν pyr rhomaïkón), "war fire" (πολεμικὸν πῦρ polemikòn pyr), "liquid fire" (ὑγρὸν πῦρ hygron pyr), or "manufactured fire" (πῦρ σκευαστόν pyr skeuastón)

Plus "Greek fire" or "Greek Empire" or "Emperor of Greeks" were derogatory terms used by the Latin heretics - only proper adjective to refer to the glorious Imperium and its citizens is Roman and/or Romaioi!
P.S. Even In my AAR the Byzantines are suffering.
Doubt that they will last much longer...
That turkic band though....What type of music they play?
