How will the new dynamic tag system affect game performance?

Well a usual colony only brings the motherland a fraction of it's income as "Tariffs" but allow the motherland to steer trade back to the capital;
A colonial nation will benefits from the full income of its province and send a share of this incomee to the motherland (like vassals does), i suspect there will be a mechanic to adjust the tax rate of colonial nations, which will impact the nationalist sentiment of the colonials. Additionally the motherland gets half the tradepower of the colonial nation;
So basically it has the potential to bring in much more money than regular colonies, but if you try to milk the golden goose too much, Mel Gibson and his buddies might revolt en masse.

haha good one

SO AWESOME!!!!!!! Paradox you are GREAT!

But, seriously, it should be Granada Jadida and not Jadida Granada as Latin languages (semitic has different adjectives and verbs placing in sentence).

It's like Spain New.

Colonial nations are definitely the most interesting feature of the this upcoming expansion. I love it !

Will colonial nations get the same NIs and idea groups as their motherland?

Will they be able to explore and colonise in their own right, or will the motherland need to keep sending colonists in order to expand the colonial nation?

If they break away, will they automatically form countries like USA, Brazil and so on, or will this be a separate decision?

Can a colonial nation conduct its own warfare and diplomacy (e.g. with New World tribes) while still under the aegis of the motherland?

Under what circumstances will one power be able to force another to either make its colonial nations independent, or transfer suzerainty to the victor?

What about trade and trade power? Won't colonial traders try to retain the wealth in the American trade nodes rather then sending it back to the motherland? Won't it be harder for European nations to gain trade power since they won't have any of their own provinces in the new world?

This expansion sounds really great though. :)

Some questions:

1. If two countries both have five provinces in the same colonial region, what will happen? Both become their own regions?
2. Could modders add colonial regions to other parts of the world as well or are they hardcoded?
3. What will happen to the name and flag of the colonial nation once it becomes independent?

No they get their own unique group.

They are able to colonize on their own.

Nope. They are formed from a decision, so the first colonial nation that breaks free in a region has the choice of forming it - but you don't have to. And in some regions there can be several tags formable to choose from.

More on this later :)

So if you cannot integrate your colony, would waiting until it becomes independent and reconquering it make it part of your country? If not, would it revert back into a colony?

No. The colonial nation mechanic is only for the New World (North and South America) as most other things in this expansion.

I'm glad about this. It means we have a choice of mechanics - new colonial for New World, old style for Africa and Australia etc. More choice and variety.

Captain Gars, sorry to ask again but in case you missed my question before - can you confirm if the 5 province number for automatic breakaway will be moddable via defines or similar method? E.g. can we mod it such that they breakaway after only 2 colonies, or after 8?

Thanks!

They will spawn one colonial nation each.

3. What will happen to the name and flag of the colonial nation once it becomes independent?

They will keep it unless they take a decion to form a nation like USA, Colombia, Mexico etc.

No, conquering would just set up a new colony of yours from those provinces. I.e. you're not supposed to directly own provinces in the New World.

It's not in the defines right now but that could be fixed.
