Chapter I: The not so great beginning for a great country
Belgiumruler - Oh hell I will! (or at least try)
FinnishFury - Don't be skeptical! I aim to hold at least a month. If not...I hope Leopold likes Congo.
BrotherArdis - If i can, I'll try to make trenches before war, if not, my great army will be escorted to Congo by the great Belgian (British) fleet! But one of my targets is to make the Belgian Tricolor fly over the Reichstag!
Zorro - Thanks, I'm gonna need every single bit of it!
The effort to survive (and make a empire on the way) - A Belgium HPP AAR
Well, as you can see, Belgium is in a pretty safe place
The French on the south, the weak Netherlanders to the north, English Channel to the left... It would be perfect, if not the east. There's a short border with the German Reich (in blue) , and a longer border with Luxembourg (in red) , who's only purpose is to make me defend three provinces instead of two. But that's not a big worry...for now.
Technology wise, I'm going Grand Battle Plan, Firepower Focus, and Small arms (smart me didn't take pictures). I'm producing a infantry division, while most of my IC is used on consumer goods. Intelligence wise, I'm starting to lower my neutrality, as well as increasing the Netherland threat.
The first biggest thing I did, is reorganizing my army. Instead of the massive amount of Corps HQ's, I left two Corps attached to the German front (which is actually an army), and one Corps, which acts like the Netherlands front. I have disbanded all the cavalry divisions and 9 of the reserve divisions, as well as the Congo militia division (mistake).
The Belgian order of battle, as of May 13, 1936:
-The German Army, consisting of 2 corps, who are controlling 9 divisions, 8 of which are reserve divisions
-Netherlands Front, which consists of 5 reserve divisions.
This is my technological situation as of 1st July, 1936. I have made a stop as for the weapons, but continued the research on the doctrines and and a Census Tabulating Machine.
This is my intelligence situation. I have also started to increase the Luxembourg threat. Belgium gets a +2.00 neutrality chance, so it'll be a long road to conquering (1. If you know a way to lower neutrality faster, I'll appreciate that. 2. I caugh those Soviet spies.)
My political situation. It is pretty nice, although these guys are to blame for my neutrality. If your'e wondering, I'm not producing anything, because I'm running low on rare materials.
At August 13th, the Fascist party (Rex) gained some popularity. I allowed them to prove their selves, but three days later, a big debate at the cabinet happened about this topic. I didn't lose anything though.
This is the mistake I made. I didn't even think of the Congo Division as a reserve, so I had to remake it. Also, cause of rare and convoy shortage, I'll have to stick with 27 IC
These are the events, which happened in October. One raises my IC a little, but the other gives me money. Just so you know, the smugglers are Malayans. Like I need good relations with a colony!
As the year comes to an end, I believe, that I can hold at least a month. The army has pretty good doctrines, and the hand-held AT weapons are good enough to rip apart Panzer II's. I will also be able to make transports now.
I have managed to lower neutrality now (by a glorious 1%), and as the spy number increases, I might have a chance to make a shorter front line.
Though I have 4 militia divisions to make, I'll make only this one. After that, I'll be making infantry.
As the year has passed, many questions rise: will you have normal defenses, will Belgium survive, will the Belgians get more rares, and so on. Though Leopold III is skeptical, I sure ain't!
