After some time not posting any AARs, I've finally decided to make a reboot of my Russia MDS AAR on Darkest Hour. Unlike the previous one, however there will be some changes in style to this reboot, but it probably won't change the general direction of this AAR.

So, without further ado, here's the introduction.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Game: Darkest Hour v.1.03
Mod: MDS2DH v.2.1
Goal for this AAR: Fighting under the banner of "Stopping Terrorism", Russia will slowly build and expand, re-creating the Russian Empire and establishing a new world order that will encompass the whole world.

Cheats: Several changes, actually. . . .

-Firstly, I'm using "nofog". Not only because I'm comfortable with that, but also since Russia has spy sattelites, it stands to reason that the fog of war should be lifted.
-Secondly, I decreased the factory time construction from 360 to just 60 days.
-Thirdly, I am creating some events, mainly related to the Proclamation of the Russian Empire, the Coronation of Vladimir IV and whatnot. I may decide to ultimately release the event files so that others may share in the experience (provided I get permission from the MDS2DH board first).

. . . Other than that, it's pretty normal from here on out.

Difficulty: Very Easy/Normal

I hope you relax and enjoy your read!

Now that I got the introduction out of the way, let's just head to the prologue (actually the one I used for the original). . .

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Act 0: The Prolouge(1991-2003)

"Может показаться, что в конце нашей нации и нашей империи произошло в 1991 году. Они были неправы, ибо оно дало России второй шанс; способ выковать новое начало для себя, что привело нашу Родину к величию."

"Možet pokazatja, čto v konce našej nacii i našej imperii proizošlo v 1991 godu. Oni byli nepravy, ibo ono dalo Rossii vtoroj šans; sposob vykovat' novoje načalo dlja sebja, čto privelo našu Rodinu k veličiju."

("It may seem like the end of our nation and our empire has occured back in 1991. They were wrong, for it gave Russia a second chance; a way to forge a New Beginning for itself, leading our Motherland to greatness.")

-Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin

The year is 2003.

The Russian Federation had seen better times and it had seen worse times since the nation had been re-established in 1991. Long considered a Great Power since Peter the Great's reign, Russia had ruled a vast empire, the largest empire ever seen, continuing in 1917 under new rulers and a new ideology. Ruling as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (known as the Soviet Union for short), it continued to keep parts of the old empire together for 74 years. Then in 1991, everything changed. The old Empire was split up, with 15 sovereign nations formed out of its shadows. Russia entered a state of turmoil, instability and economic collapse, forced to watch as parts of the former Soviet republics were being courted by the West to join their camp, led by its former Cold War enemy, the United States of America. It also had problems dealing with the war in the breakaway region of Chechnya, where seperatists tried to break free of Russia's grasp. It was a troubling decade for Russia, and a stressful time for its people.

But in 2000, Russia's prospects began to turn for the better, after Boris Yeltsin, the former President that saw the break-up of the empire, was replaced by a young President named Vladimir Putin. He began to see to it that the Russian economy would resuscitate after years of economic collapse, and has also began to stabilize the country after years of political instability. Benefiting from the shift in American foreign policy to root out terrorist camps after the attacks on 11 September, 2001, and the subsequent War on Terror, President Putin began to pacify most of Chechnya, claiming that the seperatists were working for al-Qaeda and other terror networks. But Russia has a long and ardous way to go before regaining her spot amongst the Great Powers, for if Russia is to become an empire once again, it would have to reclaim the lost territories and defeat its enemies abroad.

Incredible! Please do go on!

Thanks!

I have most of everything prepared. All that's need is to put it into writing.

You will restore Romanovs?

Heck No. But, you will see an Emperor in this AAR. (HINT: Vladimir will pull off a Bonaparte this time)

Oh,I finished reading the other AAR,now I know what will happens ;)

So now we get to watch 2 MDS Russias, one communist and one lead by Tsar Vladimir. I say the race is on to Washington.

So, here's the latest update . . . .

------------------------------------------------------------
Act 1: A New Beginning

Chapter 1: Seeds of a Superpower Ascendant

As it stands, the former Russian Empire has been broken up into 17 sovereign states (the 15 nations that made up the former USSR, plus Finland and Poland), plus portions that are now in the hands of its neighbors. Russia itself (known as the Russian Federation) is still a global player, despite being shattered by the Crisis of the 90s. It also displayed a potential to become one of the greatest superpowers in history. Indeed, Russia would soon reclaim its territories and serve as the bulwark against tyranny and oppression throughout the world.

As President Putin was beginning to see his destiny, a new war broke out in the Middle East. The United States, under President George W. Bush, had basically declared war on Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq, accusing the dictator of stockpiling weapons of mass destruction (with the very real possibility that he was seeking nuclear weapons). In a Cabinet meeting that was held on 23 March, President Putin personally condemned the invasion, considering it “the most blatant attack of the UN Charter to date”. Such statements didn’t go well in Washington, however, and it was expected it wasn’t going to produce any effect to the war.

In a similar way, France’s President Jacques Chirac and Germany’s Chancellor Gerhard Schröder also condemned the invasion as well, producing some tense relations with Britain (who had supported the invasion). Seeing the opportunity, President Putin signed a pact on 2 April with the governments of the two countries. Secretly however, Putin was plotting to bring down both of them in his plan, but at the right moment, when Russia is in a position of strength.

Also, on 2 April, President Putin met with Foreign Minister Ivanov to discuss reports gathered by the SVR on Russia’s various rivals. Like Putin, Igor Ivanov agreed that if Russia is to stand a chance in this dog-eat-dog world, it would have to deal with its rivals sooner or later.

----------------------------------------------------------
Well, it's a bit short, but I will eventually post an update about Russia's foreign policy soon.

Yay! I was so saddened when the original died.

Glad to have you back. For the Motherland!

Yay! I was so saddened when the original died.

Glad to have you back. For the Motherland!

Glad to BE back!!!! :D

And this AAR's better than ever, and hopefully this AAR could succeed what the original couldn't: that is to enlighten the world under Russian control and influence.

EDIT: I am currently writing a new chapter that will leave right where the first chapter went off, which will be a discussion of Russia's rivals.

Subscribed! Who will create the glorious reunification of the 18 States that used to make up the Russian Empire (not including Alaska) first? Under what banner? Will it be under a new Soviet Russia? Or, will it be under the old flag of the Tsar? Who will claim the Historical cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, and get revenge on their mortal enemy, ever since 1917? Time will tell...

You'll see. Though I can guarantee you this: it won't be the Soviets, and it won't be the Romanovs, but a new dynasty shall rule Russia and the world towards greatness.

Bumping this thread . . .

Man modern day Russian AARs are the best. Plus, you really don't need to shorten IC production, in my game, by 2010, Russia (played by me) bypassed American industrial output, and i built some 60 ic. I will be following :D

Here's another update. Enjoy . . . . .

Act I: A New Beginning
Chapter 2: The State of Foreign Affairs

During the meeting between President Putin and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov on 2 April, the Foreign Minister also pointed out that while Russia was certainly a global player (with nuclear weapons and a permanent UNSC membership to boot), it had been a shadow of the superpower it once was.

First in the report was the United States. An adversary that Russia (as the Soviet Union) faced during the Cold War, it had benefited from the Crisis of the 90’s, ensuring that its dominance in Europe was complete. Under President George W. Bush, it had declared a “war on terror” against Al-Qaeda and other terror networks after the 9/11 attacks crippled the nation. That war led to the invasion of Afghanistan, and the subsequent collapse of the regime, which at the time was rule by the militant Islamic fundamentalist Taliban. At the time of the invasion of Iraq, the President was riding a tide of public support, and with America the largest economy in the world, it would be a very formidable rival indeed for Russia.

Next on the list were the European nations, the first among these was the United Kingdom. Once boasting a navy that could “rule the waves”, Britain once spanned ¼ of the planet, and had countless millions as its subjects. It even countered the interests of the Tsar in the 19th century around Central Asia and India. And although the British Empire has vanished since then, it still possesses a formidable armada, one that Russia would soon have to face.

Also on the European continent, lay the nations of France and Germany. In addition to being members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, an organization created by the Americans to contain Soviet ambitions, both are also critical members of the European Union, a 15-member organization united in a common brotherhood, a common economy, and even a common currency. Born out of the ashes of the Second World War, it was designed to help unify a fractured continent in a common bond. But, Russia will soon have to break that unity in their quest for a Russo-centric world.

Meanwhile, sitting right next to the Americans stationed in Iraq and the U.S.-aligned government in Afghanistan, lay the behemoth that is the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ruled by an emperor, or shah, for millennia, this empire, which also supported the United States during the Cold War, soon crumbled when a popular revolution, led by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, toppled the unpopular shah and replaced Iran's monarchy with an Islamic republic that is guided by Islamic imams and other religious leaders. All the while, they have been accused by the Americans and their allies of funding terrorists across the Arab World, in what is perhaps an attempt to overthrow the governments in these countries. Today, it still is a threat to the United States and its ally, Israel, and it may also be a future threat to Russia's ambitions as it expands.

Finally, in the east, lay a behemoth bordering Russia’s eastern flank: the People’s Republic of China. A mighty dragon rising from the ashes of Mao Zedong's crushing regime, it has gotten rid of his worst abuses, creating one of the largest economies in the world, all the while remaining a totalitarian state run by the Chinese Communist Party. It also maintains the largest army in the entire world, an army that Russia will soon have to stand up to in order for its plans to be achieved.

Seeing how far Russia has become, being behind the two main giants, the US and China, President Putin finally showed his resolve to further his cause to establish a new balance of power, where Russia becomes its axis. And to start the process, he is going to the one area Russia should never ignore in it quest: the economy.

The Empire Expanse Plan is about to be unleashed.

========================
That's all for now. Another turn will come soon.

I'm glad you like this.

Also, the next update will about Russia's plans to expand its economy (in preparation for the coming wars of conquest)
