Well it is an extremely unlikely scenario. I don't see mercs invade often at all, much less in the conversion period of 1399-1450ish.
getting a odd problem. the Converter exe is crashing every time it gets to Mapping CK2 nations to EU3 Nations.
to fit this I had to cut some things, Mapped Countries (the middle section as it did not seem to have any errors). adsorbed countries, and the People (diplo/milit/intrigue/etc) scores.

That's not the problem, I spent some time removing all republics and im still crashing as the same spot (and no longer by the dyn number warnings) im starting to think it has something to do with 13-02-28 12:46:05: Mapped countries k_persia -> ZAZ (fallback) since this is where it always falls apart.
The problem is not the republics, it's the characters IN the republics. Unless you removed every character from the file that ever had both a family holding and a ducal or higher title without holding a county title, you'll get crashes during relationship calculation (and if you do remove all such characters, you'll probably get crashes elsewhere from broken family trees). I've already fixed them, so the next build won't have that particular problem.

Fortunately, the project is set up better for minor releases now. Whenever dtremenak thinks things are ready, he can go and put out a 0.6C.

What exactly does the converter do with families, aside from maybe adding the names of rulers and determining alliances? Sorry if this has all been stated before, I haven't read many of the early posts.
Well, alliances, as you mention, plus heir determination, and the opinion modifiers for parents/children and dynasts. Alliances in particular require complete family trees; there's a whole bunch of tree traversal logic necessary for finding all of an individual ruler's allies. Ruler names don't care about either the dynasty OR the family tree, just the title.

lol. been eying EvW and supreme ruler wondering how to mod it so I can take it even farther lol (imagen the world if a reformed Roman Empire still head sway in 2020, Russia never rose to power but German still did or it was the US that never came into being, in my current game the french fell in 1300s, in that world no one would be there to support the fledgling USA when it was needed the most) endless possibilities great and small.

While trying to convert an unplayed 1st of Jan 1337 save (I started a new game, saved and quit before unpausing) the converter crashes early in the process. The final log entry is "Importing parsed data", although the last line displayed in the converter itself before it crashes is "Relating vassals and lieges". I had the same problem with 0.6B.
I haven't actively played CK2 in a while (or at least not started any new games), so this is the first time I'm trying to convert a 9.1 save. In other words, there might be something wrong on my end. Older saves still convert properly. EDIT: older as in from before the latest few CK2 patches

Well, I don't speak for Idhrendur or dtremenak, but I'd guess that since armies and navies are the next major feature to be converted, any input on how to best convert those would be appreciated. See the last few pages (and one of the thread's very first posts for links to earlier discussions) for some of the ideas put forth so far.
Also, if you have any input on how to refine the conversion of tech groups that would be good too. (Again, see the last few pages for some of the issues that have come up).
Technically this is a problem with the history files. At later start dates, d_gotland has no holder, but the various patricians in gotland still have their lieges set to d_gotland. I've added some protection to the converter so we won't crash, at least.

That's expected, but not desired. Most player realms are pretty large and therefore end up Muslim through a quirk of the current tech group mechanism.
Interesting. Any plans to fix this? I'll go save-file digging in order to remake the maps to my liking, but it'll be nice to know if this would be addressed in the future.
