Based on Sengoku: Way of the Warrior

What is this you ask? Well it is a Japan mod for Crusader Kings II.

Thanks to the fact Sengoku uses pretty much the same engine, using the map was nearly painless, removing the biggest obstacle. Yes, indeed there is a Japan map (361 land provinces).
After I got that working, I just ported over the characters and titles.

If you want to help and write events, fix bugs, create thematic graphics, add characters, please don't hold back.
Because you see, I don't really know anything about Japan in the first place.

Compatible Mods: NB+, TrueMute
Recommended DLC: Mongol Face Pack

Here's an overview shot of the Ashikaga Shogunate, it's vassals (note the bright colours), and a shot of the terrain. The rice paddies were in Sengoku by the way.

In case you're wondering, no, I don't own Sengoku, but the demo has all the necessary files.

One way to contribute is to use the github repository https://github.com/frozenyak/Sengoku

* Installation *
****************
1) If you have an older version of the mod installed, delete those older versions first.
2) Unzip to My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod.
3) Make sure the mod was extracted to the correct folder. Inside the 'mod' folder, there should be a sengoku.mod file. If there is not, and instead another 'mod' folder, you extracted the mod incorrectly.
4) Unzip any Hotfixes to your Crusader Kings II folder (same place you installed the mod in step 2).
5) Start the CK2 launcher and check 'Sengoku [Required] Version X.XX' in the list of mods.
6) Check any optional modules you want to use along with Sengoku.
7) Hit play.

Sengoku does not really have a lot of events to begin with, and the ones it has are mostly inferior versions of the ones in CK2.
It has its own specialities like guns and ninjas, but they require systems that don't really exist, and trade posts weren't possible until now.

Thanks to the new patch I was thinking about adding Portuguese and Dutch trade posts, but am not sure how and if it is even possible, because they'd have to be mostly landless.

Just to be sure I looked the events over again and the feudal life events might be worth taking another look.

I think if you add the always exists line to the title then it should work, like how the papacy does. "Dutch East India Company" as a short name. Take a look at the papal title for an example of some super-specific lines to use.

Maybe give foreign traders tiny counties with a titular duchy title in places that traditionally opened up to outside trade. Or you could do what Shogun 2 Total War did and designate small islands around Japan as trading outposts for different cultures. Koreans be given their own trading Republic to trade with Japan, to cite an example.

I noticed the Duchy name is there, maybe they could be called "Domains" instead?

Sorry for dubblepost.

I put it in the My documents paradox / Crusader Kings 2 folder but it ain't showing up in the game. What to do?

Never mind, it went in to the wrong folder by misstake.

Sounds interesting. Will give it a try later today.
