Ruĝa Krepusko - Fall of the Red Titan
The Collapse of a Communist World

In 1848, revolts by the working class burst holes in the traditional structure of Europe. Soldiers mutinied, and refused to crack down on the strikes, riots, and uprisings sparking up across Germany, Austro-Hungary, and France. Seeing his Manifesto coming true, Karl Marx called for the rebels to unite as one force to liberate the poor and oppressed of the world. The Great Proletarian Revolution, as it was called, enveloped Germany and Austro-Hungary, crushing the old order and building a new one. The Marxists quickly swept into East Europe as the Winter Palace fell to a march of red flags. They then turned west, joining with French revolters. By 1851, all of Europe had been swept up in the Marxist revolution. From the Urals to Iberia and from Istanbul to Dublin had been united as the Proletarian Union of Europe. Karl Marx, prophet of the new order, assumed leadership alongside his longtime ally, Frederich Engels. After bitter competition between German and Russian communists on where to establish the new capital and what official language to adopt, they finally compromised on the Polish city of Warsaw to serve as the heart of the Revolution, and to agree on Esperanto as the official language. The Marxist forces swept into Siberia and down through Asia, aided by peasants and workers. However, they met bitter resistance in the mountains of Central Asia. African rebels decided to adopt the Marxist revolters' ideas, following the anti-imperialist school of thought. Unfortunately, when the African Union joined the Communist International, some African ideologues noted that the former colonialist system from the European empires had been replaced by a new system where African leaders now take orders from Warsaw. The red tide slowly flooded the world, reaching every corner and island. General Secretary Marx set up Proletaria, a global system to administer all regions and balance their power so they do not overpower Europe. The political ideology that followed became Proletarianism, which was continued by Marx's successor, Engels. After Marx and Engels died, Karl Kautsky, the "Pope of Proletaria," ascended to be the leader of the Supreme Proletariat, ruling the world through the power enjoyed by the Communists in Warsaw. But the absolute orthodox interpretations of the Communist Manifesto and Capital seem to be failing outside of Europe, and Warsaw's control over the globe seems to slowly be weakening. Reformists headed by Vladimir Lenin look for a way to renew Communist hegemony, but will it be enough to halt the counter revolution?

NOTE: As of 23rd, January 2013, I am suspending my work on the mod until summer. The link to download the mod is here. Add or edit what you want, then just tack it up on the thread so others can further improve upon it. Be sure to add a change log to your work. I will keep this post updated, and if I have the time compile subsequent releases with all the editing so we all stay on the same page. Credit will be given on the OP as well as on an event in game. Thoughts and ideas, graphics, and actually coding is welcome. Just post what you will. The mod has not been transferred to 1.3 yet, since I don't know how. This should be our first priority. Here is the link to the latest version:

So are we going to have like massive civil wars and stuff in this mod? And if you play as the Proletarian Union will you get events to reform and become either Stalinist or Democratic socialist or something? Great mod idea! I'll be watching this way.

Yeah, as Proletarians will have choices to reform, initially just along Leninist lines but then it will probably branch into a few different options. And yes to civil wars as well. By the time the game starts in 1935, there has been a twenty-year insurgency in Central Asia (who has always given Warsaw trouble). I recently got someone who will be making all my flags for me, so that will be good. Thanks for the encouragement! As soon as I have the .inc's all squared away I'll post a picture of the world map.

Also, what file do I edit to rename ideologies and alliances? I looked in config and didn't see it. If any of you know that'd be awesome if you could point me in the right direction.
Edit: Nevermind, after some intense searching, I have found it! Here will be the ideologies, with what they are replacing (though may not be exactly like).
1) Totalitarian Proletarian (Stalinist)
2) Reformist Proletarian (Leninist)
3) Orthodox Proletarian* (Left-Wing Radical)
4) Internationalist (Social Democrat)
5) Social Liberal
6) Market Libertarian (Market Liberal)
7) Social Conservative
8) anti-Proletarian (Paternal Autocrat)
9) Social Nationalist (Fascist)
10) National Populist (National Socialist)
*Orthodox Proletarian is the strict interpretation and adherence to post-Revolution Marxist doctrine set down by Marx and Engels after the establishment of Proletaria (the global Marxist system). It is the starting ideology of the globe (and is forced upon all the world), but as things get shaky, especially in Central Asia, and old Karl Kautsky, the "Pope of Proletaria," dies (he's the last of the influential Orthodox leaders), reforms will be available (but not necessary... per se).

Hey, I got your PM but I couldn't get an answer for you in time. If you could let me know where the thing is, I'd love that.

I have found a free site for hosting files and and a free compression software. Soon I will be uploading version 0.01, which will basically be a world map: The countries and their flags in place, nothing else. It will be coming in the next few days for those who would like to see what the players on the international stage are on this timeline.
NOTE: The ministers, tech teams, tech, industry, military, bases, and diplomatic set up will not be on version .01, so don't worry if they seem out-of-place or odd.

I was - hyperlinked to his wiki in the name :) I wonder whether he'll be quite so busy in this time line
You'll have to see. Right now I'm writing out the "plot" for the CAPA and AU event chains. Probably should write out the chains for PUE as well.

For Who it May Concern:
I am making good progress. If anyone knows a program to take screenshots I will upload a world map.

What I have done:
1) Set up initial country's territory
2) Procured flag/counter graphics for them
3) Starting technology for countries
4) Starting policy for countries
5) Diplomatic relations for countries (the Proletarian Union controls the world... for now.)
6) My ideas for the first three event chains affecting the Proletarian Union of Europe, the African Proletarian Union, and the Central Asian Proletarian Authority.
7) Last but not least, I figured out how shadow countries work. What does this mean? I can correctly do civil wars and additionally, this will allow me to make separate countries, one with the Communist and one with the Democratic (and maybe one with the Fascist) name. Example: African Proletarian Union and African Union (Communist and Democrat). This was very exciting for me.

Next Up:
I am currently working on the PUE's ministers. I have who I want for all their choices, currently coding them and having BeardedHoplite make me their photos. I will continue to do other countries. This might take awhile because of research and finding Marxists to preside over the various Proletarian puppets. Might borrow from DH Full for some, we'll see.

Then:
I will be doing the Tech Teams after that. This should be simple for the initial countries, as they will be stuck with Cooperatives and Research Bureaus as they are communist. Going to leave leaders for now, unless someone will volunteer for research for that.

After that:
I will be placing the military forces of the globe. This will be my final editing of the .inc files (except for fixes and the like). Unfortunately for the unstable regimes in place, due to global peace and Proletaria mandates only garrisons and militias are allowed in a "standing army."

P.S.
If anyone wants to work on event "plot line" development, PM me. Any other research help is great right now. You do not need to code the ministers/leaders/events you come up with, simply give me their name and link to wiki for minister/leader or some sort of flowchart or story line for events. Thanks! :)

What year is it based at? Screens say 193(5?), but that's a bit too late for Lenin.
The theme itself would fit 1914-1920, as the fall would surely start some grand wars and would fit with tech tree. (unless you are changing descriptions for it too)

I thought about that. I'm kinda divided about that because I can assume Lenin, as a family of good communists, would have had access to health care and would have had a better life of not-constant exile, and he'd only be 64. At the same time, I was thinking of getting rid of him and replacing him with Khrushchev as the leader of pro-Reform groups. The only problem is is that he wasn't a very inspirational speaker like Lenin was, so to get the whole of the non-Orthodox establishment behind Khrushchev is kinda iffy. These are my thoughts. I dunno what you make of them.

Additionally, I like the idea of moving it to 1914-1916 era... It would also be easier as I did not want tech to be too advanced (assuming low creativity and innovation in a communist world) and I planned on garrisons and militias being the mainstay of armed forces as all the world answers to Warsaw anyway, so they don't exactly need armed forces (until it all goes south, to the African Proletarian Union of course). But I will just have to do a little minister age checking.I was planning on borrowing ministers for the communist puppets that fall quickly, so I'll have to do some checking. That would but Mao in his early 20's. And I was planning for him to be HoS of the Asian and Pacific Confederations. Hm...
