Believe it or not, after some frustration trying to get into HOI 3, I went back to HOI only to discover CORE for the first time. Even though I'm a long time HOI 2 (and its various iterations) player, HOI1 + CORE gives me a hard time. Can't pocket the soviet forces as easily and finish them off like in HOI 2. In fact, I'm having a really hard time as Germany right now, as the Soviet Union stacks up to 50 (!) units in one place and bulldozes over my Eastern Front forces. Mass beats class in HOI1, it seems.
So here's a few questions from a HOI 1 CORE newbie:
1.) I noticed that attrition seems to be not a case if you're within your country, is that correct? So Soviet Forces can stack up to 50 forces in a region with 20 infrastructure?
2.) Thanks to attrition (and the enemy not being concerned by it), it doesn't make sense to go after the Soviet <30 infrastructure northern provinces, does it?
3.) There is no stacking penalty for armies? (i noticed there IS for navy)
4.) Even though units are completly cut off from supplies (pocketed), they still seem able to replenish manpower?
5.) Any general advice playing as Germany? It seeems like a lost cause from the start in HOI 1? I'm going all in on the A-Bomb now as kind of a ultima ratio to win this war.
6.) V1 / V2 rockets are even less effective than in HOI2, are they?
7.) Anyone ever managed to kill England's merchant marine off? I seem to sink something between 50-100 transports each month and yet they keep coming ...
