Alright - Here's my half of the deal.
I don't have much to say that arya hasn't - except that this is not a scam and there are not free donuts to be had. NO. DON'T EVEN GO THERE.
Oh, and the Japanese elections will be held every ODD-numbered year, I.E. 1937, 1939, 1941, etc. The Soviet elections will be held every EVEN-numbered year I.E. 1936, 1938, 1940, etc.
Anyway - I'll probably put more in this spot when my batteries recharge. I've just updated two AARs and started planning two more updates. Tomorrow I'll be back at 100%.
WE ARE PLAYING AS JAPAN AND THE SOVIET UNION.
No mods are used, and we will not aim to go historical.
Here are the rules, in case you haven't read Realpolitik or Realpolitik II, which I advise you to check out:
- We as hosts reserve the right to veto any action any player wishes to undertake: To consolidate the stability of the AAR, to stop interference with the normal functioning of the thread or simply because we feel like it.
- Rule 1 of Realpolitik: Democracy is absolute. Even when the Nazis or communists are elected into office, they will still have to answer to the opposition and face elections every two years.
- Any member is free to establish or join a political party of his choice. A member can only be member of one party at a time, although he is free to switch allegiance whenever he sees fit.
- Try to keep the roleplaying to a minimum - Given the short length of this AAR we are going to ask everyone to refrain from inventing characters and to use their own nicknames at all times when playing. This is to avoid confusion.
- Every two ingame years an election shall be held, the first election will be Soviet, and held in June 1936, in about two weeks. The first Japanese election will be held in May 1937. During the week, we'll grant the right to all parties to organize, unite and campaign to get as many people as they can to vote. Note that everyone registered on the Paradox forums is eligible to vote.
- Parties are allowed to form coalitions. At the end of an election, all votes are tallied and the party or coalition with the largest % of votes wins the election. International coalitions are allowed.
- The parties that did not win will be sent to opposition, where they can comment on the policy of the leading faction. We will monitor opposition closely, and the leading players have to understand that failing to appease the public will lead to us penalizing Japan/Soviet ingame (dissent, economic shortages). It is therefore very important to listen to the public, who can demand re-elections as well.
- The winning party or coalition will come into office the ingame update after the elections. They will have to put forward four leading figures for the government: A national leader, adviser to the leader, military minister and domestic minister. Each country has its own names for the positions. These three people, backed up by their party members, will be responsible for making decisions ingame. We will PM the leader personally before each play session, where he has to dictate us the course either Japan or the USSR takes. The same person cannot be the same minister of both countries simultaneously. However, they may be different ministers in different countries simultaneously. I.E. Japanese Shogun and Soviet Premier.
- Every reader (including players) has two votes in the elections for each nation. Putting in two votes for a single party is not allowed. However, if parties want to play it smart they'll seek coalition with a like-minded party so players can put two votes into their front.
- The hosts (arya126 and Lighthearter) retain full rights to ban any party that has violated these rules. Spamming parties, parties using a complaint generator, parties inciting hate or parties that are found obtrusive for the normal functioning of this thread will be banned from the elections indefinitely.
- Please refrain from PMing us for every Realpolitik-related issue. Alternatives are using the profile visitor comments, or simple commenting in the thread.
- By voting, joining a party or performing any other form of interaction with this AAR, you declare that you have read and understood these rules to the letter. We don't want to be jerks guys, so keep it clean!

Join the Party today!
Vote for the DSEP for a better, more equitable future for all of Japan.
The nation of Japan. and more importantly it's noble people, are undergoing harrowing conditions as the current economic crisis leaves families destitute and willing workers out on the street.
This has all been a result of the capitalist system which locks countries into this perpetual cycle of boom and bust just so a greedy and shortsighted few can benefit while the many are exploited and left for dead when they are no longer needed. The Democratic Socialist Equality Party of Japan will lead Japan out of this quagmire through a remodelling of society along democratic socialist lines. In a socialist Japan a man will reaps the rewards of his own labour through the nationalisation and democratisation of our nations industry. The workers of Japan will also have a safety net to ensure that when luck turns against them the state will provide support until when or if they can rejoin the workforce. We know that political democracy must come hand-in-hand with economic democracy.
The inevitable progress of Japan will continue but rather than being wasted by an old guard clinging to outdated military ideas we will prove our ingenuity through being at the forefront of innovative research and development and pursue more efficient and concentrated industrial development. By doing so we will ensure full employment. From the Kurils to the Sakishimas no citizen of Japan will be left behind, we will make it our priority to provide opportunities for all. We will comission synthetic oil and rubber plants to provide our growing industry with the resources it needs without having to rely on potentially beligerent foreign powers and to silence the voices within the military who call for colonial aggression and exploitation as a way of taking control of these resources.
When in power we will make sure there is an end to all discrimation against Koreans and Taiwanese through education and greater oversight, race is a capitalist tool used to turn workers against each other and cloud their minds from the real problems. We will strive for greater accountability to the people and government of the Armed Forces and Kempeitai (Japanese military police and secret service).
We however are against authoritarian measures such as those which have been used in the Soviet Union. We will view with great interest the upcoming election in that country and the diplomatic policy we pursue with them will depend greatly upon the result of those elections. We find the notion of empire and the colonial subjugation that goes with it abhorent, instead we seek a federation of all like minded pacific nations against western capitalist exploitation.
Japanese Imperial Party
(For those who do not want to read, it is basically a right-wing fascist party)
A Party dedicated to the furtherment and betterment of Japan in its true form - an Empire, destined to bring the world to its knees, in the fashion of our glorious ancestors. The samurai warrior is an ideal that must be preserved, and the determination and strategy of the old shogunates and daimyo are crucial to both our past and present identity.
We must realize that we, as the Japanese people, must remain united against the many threats against us, be it the communists who seek to ravage our homeland, the Westerners who would see us starve and be poverty striken, or the Chinese and other neighboring regimes who would see us crushed under their boot. We must RISE UP against this threat and form a new, glorious Japanese nation!
Pan- Asian National Liberal Party (PANLP)
Japan is the risising power of Asia, the pride of an entire continent. Therefor Japan has obligations to spread democracy and chase out the Gaijins from our Continent and establish a rich, prosperous and democratic Pan- Asian Community.
