REALPOLITIKS IS HERE! MULTIPLAYER STYLE!

So how are doing today folks? Well please all elderly people brace yourself for this since we are not responsible for heart attacks due to our awesome news here..wait for it.....Realpolitik has gone multiplayer! But you would never guess the countries! heres a few hints: the flags above us. Lighthearter is playing this game with me. This will be my first time in an AoD barbarossa. if it happens like that.

The rules are similar to the ones used in the original realpolitik started by TRP in good old HOI2 AARland. pay it a visit to see interactive AARs in the true sense of the phrase. But in the meantime-flock here, start parties, plot the best ways to kill stalin and hirohito, well just get ready for some awesome politics.

Just in case its not clear yet heres whats going on in this crazy insane idea that i can take 75% credit for. Lighthearter and myself have decided to start a multiplayer aar in the realpolitik AAR. He will be playing as Japan and i will be playing the soviet union. Both countries will be open for elections, parties and voting. The voting will begin in around 2 weeks. you have 5 days to organize parties and set your policies up. then you will have 7 days to campaign in this thread. Feel free to do so in your sigs in the meantime. Then voting will take place for 2 days after that. Issues for the parties will be presented in due time, but you could probably guess the general idea of things you want to adress depending on the country. International coalitions are allowed. BUT the same party may NOT be in both countries. Just like the leaders of the two countries ruling parties cant be the same. But the leader of one counbtry may be part of a party in the country, even in the cabinent. Just not the leader.

Lighthearter will be along shortly to help out. Now lets get staRTED!!!

Alright - Here's my half of the deal.

I don't have much to say that arya hasn't - except that this is not a scam and there are not free donuts to be had. NO. DON'T EVEN GO THERE.:D:rofl:

Oh, and the Japanese elections will be held every ODD-numbered year, I.E. 1937, 1939, 1941, etc. The Soviet elections will be held every EVEN-numbered year I.E. 1936, 1938, 1940, etc.

Anyway - I'll probably put more in this spot when my batteries recharge. I've just updated two AARs and started planning two more updates. Tomorrow I'll be back at 100%.:D

WE ARE PLAYING AS JAPAN AND THE SOVIET UNION.

No mods are used, and we will not aim to go historical.

Here are the rules, in case you haven't read Realpolitik or Realpolitik II, which I advise you to check out:

- We as hosts reserve the right to veto any action any player wishes to undertake: To consolidate the stability of the AAR, to stop interference with the normal functioning of the thread or simply because we feel like it.

- Rule 1 of Realpolitik: Democracy is absolute. Even when the Nazis or communists are elected into office, they will still have to answer to the opposition and face elections every two years.

- Any member is free to establish or join a political party of his choice. A member can only be member of one party at a time, although he is free to switch allegiance whenever he sees fit.

- Try to keep the roleplaying to a minimum - Given the short length of this AAR we are going to ask everyone to refrain from inventing characters and to use their own nicknames at all times when playing. This is to avoid confusion.

- Every two ingame years an election shall be held, the first election will be Soviet, and held in June 1936, in about two weeks. The first Japanese election will be held in May 1937. During the week, we'll grant the right to all parties to organize, unite and campaign to get as many people as they can to vote. Note that everyone registered on the Paradox forums is eligible to vote.

- Parties are allowed to form coalitions. At the end of an election, all votes are tallied and the party or coalition with the largest % of votes wins the election. International coalitions are allowed.

- The parties that did not win will be sent to opposition, where they can comment on the policy of the leading faction. We will monitor opposition closely, and the leading players have to understand that failing to appease the public will lead to us penalizing Japan/Soviet ingame (dissent, economic shortages). It is therefore very important to listen to the public, who can demand re-elections as well.

- The winning party or coalition will come into office the ingame update after the elections. They will have to put forward four leading figures for the government: A national leader, adviser to the leader, military minister and domestic minister. Each country has its own names for the positions. These three people, backed up by their party members, will be responsible for making decisions ingame. We will PM the leader personally before each play session, where he has to dictate us the course either Japan or the USSR takes. The same person cannot be the same minister of both countries simultaneously. However, they may be different ministers in different countries simultaneously. I.E. Japanese Shogun and Soviet Premier.

- Every reader (including players) has two votes in the elections for each nation. Putting in two votes for a single party is not allowed. However, if parties want to play it smart they'll seek coalition with a like-minded party so players can put two votes into their front.

- The hosts (arya126 and Lighthearter) retain full rights to ban any party that has violated these rules. Spamming parties, parties using a complaint generator, parties inciting hate or parties that are found obtrusive for the normal functioning of this thread will be banned from the elections indefinitely.

- Please refrain from PMing us for every Realpolitik-related issue. Alternatives are using the profile visitor comments, or simple commenting in the thread.

- By voting, joining a party or performing any other form of interaction with this AAR, you declare that you have read and understood these rules to the letter. We don't want to be jerks guys, so keep it clean!

Vote for the DSEP for a better, more equitable future for all of Japan.

The nation of Japan. and more importantly it's noble people, are undergoing harrowing conditions as the current economic crisis leaves families destitute and willing workers out on the street.
This has all been a result of the capitalist system which locks countries into this perpetual cycle of boom and bust just so a greedy and shortsighted few can benefit while the many are exploited and left for dead when they are no longer needed. The Democratic Socialist Equality Party of Japan will lead Japan out of this quagmire through a remodelling of society along democratic socialist lines. In a socialist Japan a man will reaps the rewards of his own labour through the nationalisation and democratisation of our nations industry. The workers of Japan will also have a safety net to ensure that when luck turns against them the state will provide support until when or if they can rejoin the workforce. We know that political democracy must come hand-in-hand with economic democracy.

The inevitable progress of Japan will continue but rather than being wasted by an old guard clinging to outdated military ideas we will prove our ingenuity through being at the forefront of innovative research and development and pursue more efficient and concentrated industrial development. By doing so we will ensure full employment. From the Kurils to the Sakishimas no citizen of Japan will be left behind, we will make it our priority to provide opportunities for all. We will comission synthetic oil and rubber plants to provide our growing industry with the resources it needs without having to rely on potentially beligerent foreign powers and to silence the voices within the military who call for colonial aggression and exploitation as a way of taking control of these resources.

When in power we will make sure there is an end to all discrimation against Koreans and Taiwanese through education and greater oversight, race is a capitalist tool used to turn workers against each other and cloud their minds from the real problems. We will strive for greater accountability to the people and government of the Armed Forces and Kempeitai (Japanese military police and secret service).

We however are against authoritarian measures such as those which have been used in the Soviet Union. We will view with great interest the upcoming election in that country and the diplomatic policy we pursue with them will depend greatly upon the result of those elections. We find the notion of empire and the colonial subjugation that goes with it abhorent, instead we seek a federation of all like minded pacific nations against western capitalist exploitation.

Japanese Imperial Party

imperialjapaneseparty.jpg

(For those who do not want to read, it is basically a right-wing fascist party)

A Party dedicated to the furtherment and betterment of Japan in its true form - an Empire, destined to bring the world to its knees, in the fashion of our glorious ancestors. The samurai warrior is an ideal that must be preserved, and the determination and strategy of the old shogunates and daimyo are crucial to both our past and present identity.

We must realize that we, as the Japanese people, must remain united against the many threats against us, be it the communists who seek to ravage our homeland, the Westerners who would see us starve and be poverty striken, or the Chinese and other neighboring regimes who would see us crushed under their boot. We must RISE UP against this threat and form a new, glorious Japanese nation!

Pan- Asian National Liberal Party (PANLP)

Japan is the risising power of Asia, the pride of an entire continent. Therefor Japan has obligations to spread democracy and chase out the Gaijins from our Continent and establish a rich, prosperous and democratic Pan- Asian Community. We support to give the vote to the people, no restrictions for gender, class or income, but to create a true democracy of the people, and to spread the Japanese democracy all over Asia. We also see monarchs as something corruot and undemocratic and support the abolition of the Japanese monarchy and the creation of a republic. The Europeans who oppress the Asian population must leave, so Asia can prosper and become the leading power of the world. We also stronlgy support market Economy and see free trade and free markets as the best ways to promote Asia. Join now and fight for democracy and for a prosperous Pan- Asian community!!

How are elections going to work in countries which were communist and military dictatorships in 1936?
Is there some alternate history leading up to 1936 or will the political parties be starting as underground movements?

If somebody else doesn't I might start a Japanese Council Communist party. However my knowledge of Japanese internal and external politics in this period only consists of what I've read on wikipedia.

this isnt something i have discussed in-depth with lighthearter, but as i understand it we are using the same system as the original one as germany. so even though the soviet union and japan were ruled by dictatorships elections will be held. somebody could create the standing parties which would be stalinist commie and i guess japan would be military dictatorship at the moment?

and yes tuore you can create whatever party you want. as long as its in one of these 2 countries. maybe we will end up with a democratic russia.

just think that stalin and hirohito suddenly wanted to know if their countries feared them enough to vote for them to stay in office.

kalelovil-you shouldnt have to know too much about japans internal politics. just get the idea from wiki then decide your parties priorities. will they focus on the military? and if so what branch? will they attack china? will you try to form a coalition with russian parties across the border?

arya - I think they'll have no parties initially. You'll be the premier of the Soviet Union and I'll be the Emperor of Japan. Then we'll magically transform into radio announcers that inform the parties of what's going on:D

And yeah, the same election rules as Realpolitik. I'm not making up any backstory though, so we'll just pretend that, uhm, Japan and the USSR got hit by coups or something:D

Anywho, I'm looking forward to masterminding this plot:D

UNITED PARTY OF THE WORKERS (UPW)

UPW believes that a complete alliance with the Soviet Union to rule Asia is only possible through a complete reform towards a more communist government. By sharing ideologies with the Soviets, we can together form an empire never seen before - and forcing the democracies to accept the situation. Every resistance should be crushed right away, and every single square meter of enemy land should be completely exploited. All of China, Indochina, India - all of Asia should be directly integrated into the Japanese-Soviet alliance!

Today's problems are strikes, lack of labour force, unemployment... all of these can only be solved by true communism, the most noble ideology on earth. Down with the capitalists, down with the burghers, we are the true definition of equality!

Good voters of Japan, vote for the UPW, and the Japanese Empire will see its new rise!

The first Labour Day demonstration in Japan

We however are against authoritarian measures such as those which have been used in the Soviet Union. We will view with great interest the upcoming election in that country and the diplomatic policy we pursue with them will depend greatly upon the result of those elections. We find the notion of empire and the colonial subjugation that goes with it abhorent, instead we seek a federation of all like minded pacific nations against western capitalist exploitation.

Our foreign platform will cover the following policies:
1. Economic and Defence aid and advisors to the Chinese Communists and the establishment of exchange programmes for Chinese and Japanese academics and theorists. Furthermore, we will guarantee their sovereignty.
3. The establishment of a multilateral commission to decide the fate of Manchuria and northern and southern Sakhalin.
2. Punitive trade and diplomatic measures against the Kuomintang and further measures if the situation escalates.
3. Seeking closer relations with Mexico and other leftish post-colonial states. The creation of a defensive alliance against western imperialist-capitalism will be considered.
4. Closer monitoring of the developments which are taking place in the Soviet Union.
5. Renunciation of all diplomatic, trade and military agreements with fascist powers.
6. Support for leftish anti-colonial revolutionary movements around the Pacific and Indian oceans.

Our defence platform will cover the following policies:
1. Removal of the old guard of military officers who still have Imperial sympathies.
2. The training of specialist mountain divisions which will be most suitable for a defence of Communist China if they are attacked.
3. Acknowledgement that the security of Japan relies on having control over her seas and sky. We shall modernize our existing fleet and construction of new vessels will place an emphasis on cutting-edge Carrier designs and fleet air support. We will also further develop our airforce with tactical bombers and close air support. The development of modern navy and airforce theory and doctrine will take place alongside this.

(More to come)

The Communist Peace Party for a Pacifist World Revolution

Peace, man. The Communist Peace Party for a Pacifist World Revolution (CPPPWR) is a groovy little party that is working for the spread of the Communist Revolution throughout the world, through peaceful means. We support cultural exchange with other countries and philosophical discussions. Our aim is to bring the Soviet peace to all the countries in the entire world. CPPPWR believe the World Revolution can only happen through peace and prosperity. CPPPWR support a completely Communist economy controlled by autonomous communes, and that the State should not involve itself with the good socialist wibes of the people. So to all of you brothers. The samurai warrior is an ideal that must be preserved, and the determination and strategy of the old shogunates and daimyo are crucial to both our past and present identity.

We must RISE UP against this threat and form a new, glorious Japanese nation!

We do not see all nations as enemies, however - in fact, it is better to make a friend than an enemy. We strive to come to agreements with all nations regarding our obvious right to rule the East Pacific, even the capitalists and communists if they are reasonable. However, as it stands, these scourges are only plagues to the world, and must be kept in check whenever possible. So far, our only potential allies are the fascist states across the world, unable to help us in case of trouble unless they somehow achieve local superiority. We must learn to fend for ourselves as well as protect our flanks through diplomacy and, if necessary, force of arms.

Free enterprise will be allowed as long as a standard level of efficiency is maintained and the morale of the Japanese people remains high. New factories will be built if we have the resources.

The armed forces are CRUCIAL to our power - without them, our realm will almost certainly be swept aside. We must take care to focus on both our navy AND army, especially the establishment of a marine infantry army consisting of several divisions deployed throughout our realm ready to strike at any invaders.

Lastly, we seek to achieve independence from others - and this means resources! While we have many new materials from our puppets in Manchuria, our growing industry will require more and more to stay afloat. Thus, expansion is not only necessary, but inevitable.

Furthermore, we do support democracy for the Japanese Empire, including all its peoples of all races, as long as they are willing to pledge allegiance to the nation and serve their fellow citizens.

LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!

The United Happiness and Friendship Front - Moscow Edition

Naw, not seriously, but I just couldn't hold back creating this after seeing this thread.
I will just enjoy this as a reader.

The Russian Fascist Legion

russianfascistflag.png

We fight to restore the glory of the Old Russia, and to purge this once glorious nation of the Communist taint. Russia needs a strong fascist government if it wants to become a powerful nation once more. If we are elected we will seek to establish good relations with other fascist or right-wing countries such as Germany, Italy and Japan. We will fight to destroy the false ideology of Communism. We will gain new land and conquests for Russia and establish the Second Russian Empire.

Lighthearter - Could you update the details of my party in your overview post?

Hopefully this and the Realpolitik II thread become more active in the next few days. I guess I'll use the time to read the events of the original Realpolitik.
Also, Lighthearter, could you update the details again? You can leave out the demonstration photo and bullet points to make it shorter.
