Gentle Readers say:
Outmanoeuvre the Chinese
Look southwards, and east.

Seeking colonies
We must research government
Need our first NI.

So there’s not much left to do
Drink tea, write poems.

Taiwan drains our gold
So I have to start minting
And dabble in trade

Jiangsu in China
Is a virtual gold mine
Much more than Settsu

But trading is dull.
I warn all my weak neighbours
But nobody bites.

Minor land reforms
Further improve revenue.
Time to get more tea.

Slider move this time
Goes into freer trading.
A merchant appears.

With all five merchants
Jiangsu makes Japan wealthy.
At last - Ming're useful.

Taiwan makes China?!
That’s pretty common over here!
At least it’s not fish.

This is curious:
Sukhothai king is mighty,
Has made two PU’s.

Then I find out this:
One million in Settsu?
That sounds unlikely!

Mongols cause trouble.
But in Tibet?! I don’t care!
When will the king come?

Kashiwaraba!
At last, the son of heaven!
3, 4, 8. Ho-hum.

So what to do next?
The first NI in three years.
Colonists, methinks.

Treasury’s okay,
But Taiwan’s costing me dear.
I hope it’s worth it!
