*2 The DDR does not have any new TT? Is this intented?

I had a look at the current beta TT list and the DDR is not listed so I've had a go, please let me know if these seem reasonable

Sorry, don't want to tread on anyone's toes; I've only looked at this over today and I think the DDR is a bit difficult so I'm very happy to pool ideas.

From what I've seen most of the DDR equipment was Soviet and the naval Commanders in particular were pretty hopeless. Not been able to find out who commanded the airforce either. Some of the vanilla TT seem frankly made up to give the DDR a bit of balance in the game - is it in the scope to amend the existing TT or is this just adding new ones?

i'm testing this from 1936 vanila scenario, and i found very funny one. Inchon Navy Yard are researching WW1 bomber! i didn't think about KAF's partner for pararell research.

I'm better at finding People, be they Military or otherwise. I would most likely end up completely purging Paradox's TT list, at least for Military leaders. I'm also pretty good at finding images aswell.

I'm willing to work on this together (everyone is welcome to help as they wish, it's not like I was assigned DDR, quite the contrary, I hadn't mentioned it on the forums until now), you seem to have found alot of industrial teams, which isn't my strongpoint.

Part of the BMW Group, (link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VEB_Automobilwerk_Eisenach) changed name to EMW and continued to produced pre-war designs until launched own design in 1956 - the Wartburg 311. Skill 3 seems perfectly acceptable to me.

After partial destruction in World War II and shipment of several plants to the Soviet Union as war reparations, the Leuna site was gradually rebuilt and further expanded, as the "VEB Leuna-Werke Walter Ulbricht". In the 1950s an oil refinery was built, which processed Russian crude oil. This offered the opportunity to produce a whole range of oil-based chemicals and plastics.
Happy with this TT altough I think the name should be changed to VEB Leuna Werke for consistancy's sake.

I'll continue with this when it isn't so late and snowing.

This is a different Company in the DDR - see below

The "Junkers & Co." company did produce gas devices (bath boiler, gas stoves, irons etc.) as well. After the war this gas device production was continued in East Germany by the company "VEB Gasgerätewerk Dessau" and "VEB Junkalor Dessau" where gas analysers and other measuring instruments were produced. So it isn't a completly different company.

So, I'll let Simon do the Industrial TT's, and I'll handle the Military ones.

First off, the existing teams:

Rainer Stahel: Romove completely. He had nothing to do with the communists, and was captured by NKVD in 1944. Died in a Gulag.

Hans Kahle: Bump him down a skill and move his death date to 1947. He fought as an officer for the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War, and was also a writer.

Otto Groos: Remove completely. He is a real person, but had nothing to do with the Communists. Commanded the Cruiser Hamburg in the Interbellum, and during the war worked at the Navy Headquarters.

Willi Bredel: Yup, remove him. Nothing to do with Aviation...


I've looked alot, and there really isn't anyone who deserves to be a TT until after the war...

Antonov Design Bureau: Change dates from 1946-1970 to 1930-1970... The bureau itself was not founded until 1946, but Antonov was working on planes since the early 1930's.

Beriev Design Bureau: Remove, this Factory was not located in Ukraine, and it's namesake was Georgian.

Charkov Factory Design Bureau: Remove, it and the Morozov Design Bureau are the same thing.

Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard: Rename to Chernomorsky Shipyard.

Ivan Konev: Remove, was not Ukrainian. My Bad.

Kharkov Air Command Center: Remove. This is a fictional team, and I have two TT's to replace it.

Kharkov Aviation Institute: I think this should be removed. I have some confusing reasons however... For Communist Ukraine, they already have a university, the Kiev University. For Independant Ukraine I will be making it into a Doctrine team. So for the Communists it should be removed, but it will be kept for Independant Ukraine.

Kiev University: Photo needs to be retagged for CKR.

Morozov Design Bureau: All is good.

Motor-Sich: Needs to be renamed Motor Sich, a - was never used. Photo also needs to be retagged for CKR

Notes: Fought in the Russo-Japanese War, graduated from the Russian General Staff Acadamy in 1912, fought in WWI and was a Colonel by the Brest Litovsk Treaty. During the Civil War commanded the Ukrainian Division (on the side of the Whites), and eventually was given command of the SouthWest Front. In the Ukrainian National Republic was Chief of Staff, and Quartermaster General (why I gave him management). During the Interbellum was founder of the OUN, and later arrested by the Gestapo. Post war headed the Ukrainian Government in Exile's Military Section.

Was a much more experienced leader then Shukhevych, and was already high ranking at the start of the war. So I suggest he replace Shukhevych...

The Austrian military tradition was such that military officers served their country first and foremost, whatever its political leaning. I don't know about Germany, but that military tradition should be roughly the same.
These people of course will be faded out during the total takeover of communism.

It seems most of the non-Communist generals (ones that had served in the Army during WW2, alot captured at Stalingrad) were "retired" around the mid-1950's. After they could be gleaned of their information of course.

After that it went downhill. I think most of the DDR generals were pretty poor.

Only comments I have is that teams with start dates in the 20's should have them moved to 1930.

Also, Robotron starting in 1969 is not needed. Game ends in 1964, and no teams start after 1960.

The 1930-1970 Start/End dates are just to make sure the team is active at the start and end of the game.

Edit: I put the military teams up tommorow. 1 Each for pre-war, 2 for post-war. We must remember that the nation DDR, never existed as an entity before WWII, so there will be difficulty finding people. Maybe I suggest moving the start dates for all DDR teams to 1945?

I thought about this while I've being doing this research; I left the original dates or the default 1930 date as I thought that the DDR could be created before 1945 if you defeated Germany quickly. More implausably, if you were to mod the game to a different ahistorical start, (i.e. USSR won WW I on the E. Front and you had a partitioned Germany in 1918 for instance) then you'd want the companies to exist in that timeline. However I'm probably being far too pedantic and I'm very happy to agree with your suggestion.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess we could do some thinking about the dates, but there won't be any Doctrine TT's until 1945, because before the war there were no Communists in the Army, and those who served in the Spanish Civil War (those of note at least) were all Commissars.
