Europa Universalis IV - 8 June 2021 - New monuments chosen for 1.31.5

Good news everyone! Today we’ll be presenting the new monuments that shall be introduced in 1.31.5 (coming soon, for those who wonder).

But first, let me introduce myself. I’m Pavía, and I’ve been a forumite for more than 15 years before joining Paradox Tinto team, a couple months ago. Apart from being in the Forums, I’ve spent most of this time playing Paradox games for thousands of hours, since the first Europa Universalis. Oh, and I also hold a Ph.D. in Medieval History, but that’s probably the less important thing in my current CV.

That said, onto the monuments. First I’ll present to you the ones that were most voted among the community:

The first is El Escorial, the famous palace-monastery built at the orders of king Philip II in the outskirts of Madrid:

The first is the Kaaba in Mecca, the holiest site for Muslims worldwide, and the place were the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is made.

That is the Belém Tower replacing the Pena Palace in Lisbon, as we think that it’s a symbol of the city since the Age of Discoveries.

Why is there no announcement that the game would just update on the steam page or on this forum? Mind you, I am not opted in to the beta. The entire game just updated, without making it clear that it has actually updated.
Yeah, seems like the official release post is late.
Edit: It's literally just the last sentence of one tweet. No update with "1.31.5 is now live" like there was with other patches. How are people, who don't check the EU4 Twitter feed on a daily basis (I assume, you know, most people) supposed to know their campaigns might get ruined?
By unchecking the "show incompatible savegames" box? Or by checking the notification Steam gives you when finishing a download?

I am in the beta, but I was waiting for the "official release" hoping for more bug fixing coming in.... your post is the only announcement I see except an obscure facebook post :/... where is the official post?

We are still waiting for it. Usually release posts on the forum get written and posted in advance and are set as invisible before a certain time. Same for steam, developers upload their build way before release and communicate with steam when the release should go live. It is likely that the latter part was miscommunicated and therefore PDX did not know that the release would be out by now and noone is fixing the release post because they didnt catch up on it yet.

You're just in the unlucky moment between the deployment on steam and the official publication,

I assume paradox team just want the update fully available before announcing it.

Hello, i have question.
parthenon, as some another monument in europe has condition - culture = greek. If i as Byzz form roman empire, and greek culture vanished, parthenon stop working?
This is a known issue, yes. We'll look if we can solve it in next patches.
Do you plan to add more monuments with future patches?
Yes, although art takes time to be done, so we can't promise when will this be done.
Tfw Vietnam's proposed wonder is only fully utilised by a conquering China/Korea
Why? It can be used by either a Confucian or a Buddhist Dai Viet.

Well it would be not so unrealistic that culture highly influenced by the antique roman culture ( like Rumanian , French , Italian or Spanish) switch to roman culture.

There is still a costly bypass is to switch to a culture that is not required for a monument like italian. But I would prefer to have roman culture accepted.

@Pavía , already back from your summer break ? good luck , Hope we will be lucky to have a small DD on what is planned on 1.31.6 this month

What I think would be cool and to make the Roman Empire feel unique is if all monuments had a or Roman Culture option.

It would also make sense since the Roman Empire were famous for building a lot of big buildings and it is the hardest country to form.

It would be a nice reward for forming them and it would be a reason to choose them as your end game tag over other options.

no doubt! the lag is majorly sucking; I've disabled the blue flag but it continues - using the same computer I played the game to completion on earlier this year (also 2000+ hours playing EUIV but now barely playable!)
