Stellaris Dev Diary #177 - Edict Rework

grekulf
Greetings!

Today we’ll touch upon a subject dear to the hearts of many galactic rulers - namely Edicts!

Background
Edicts are meant to be a way for your empire to focus on certain issues without necessarily taking a permanent stance on them. More permanent stances on issues would be covered by Policies.

Although we felt that Edicts do fit this role pretty well, there were a couple of issues with the system that we think could be improved. The fact that Edicts would always time out felt like a little bit of unnecessary micromanagement at times, and didn’t really emphasize the feeling of “I am choosing to focus on these 2 things right now”. We felt that it would fit better if Edicts had a greater emphasis on making choices that you can go back and change, rather than being things you constantly go in and refresh.

[Prison Architect] Announcing “Cleared for Transfer”, our next free DLC

DavyDavy
Wardens,

We are happy to announce “Cleared for Transfer”: the next free DLC for Prison Architect, available on May 14th! Join us live on twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive today at 17:00 CEST (8 AM PDT) to find out all about it.

Cleared for Transfer will bring new mechanics to your prisons, such as the possibility for Inmates to move to another Security Sector if their behavior meets your expectations.

Yes, you read it right - YOUR expectations! It is up to you to decide what are the requirements for prisoners to apply for a transfer to a lower security level, and use benefits as an incentive to make the transfer appealing to your inmates.

EU4: 1.29.6 Released

BjornB
Greetings!

Another security vulnerability involving mods was discovered and patched.

  • Potential security issue fixed (Special thanks to @Mastoid for qualitative assistance resolving this issue)
  • Using SDL 2.0.4 instead of 2.0.3 (addressing a graphical issue with some resolutions on MacOS 10.15)

This patch should hopefully not have any effect on save games.

We’ve reworked the underlying sprite pack system to make it a bit easier to work with, this also enabled us to make a feature that has been requested ever since nation designers were a thing. You can now pick and choose how you want your nation's armies to look.

Now some time ago we talked about the new Revolutionary mechanics coming with the Emperor and we mentioned that we weren’t happy with the effect of the Revolutionary Zeal. I think the phrase that I used was that they weren’t “sexy enough”.

Stellaris: Console Edition. Dev Diary #1: War and Starbase Rework

Aceparadox
Hello Stellaris: Console Edition players!

I’m AC, I’m the Community Manager for Stellaris, and Stellaris: Console Edition! I would like to start off by saying that you console players are not forgotten - we are aware that it has been a bit quiet on our side since February due to the ramp up to the Federations release.

However, that being said, here we are!
With new exciting things coming to the Console Edition in the near future we want to provide you with some Console Edition focused content that hopefully will provide some insight and information for what’s about to come.

StA Dev Diary 6 - Hostile World

Hello everyone!

First of all, hope you’re all safe with all the turmoil in the world. But yet with all that going on, we have a new update for you! Its new features will surely shake things up quite a bit especially in the survival department.

The main feature in the Hostile World update is definitely the colony combat. Up until now your colonists have been mostly plagued by catastrophes, but that’s going to change. Hostile wildlife has taken over many of the deposits, requiring you to clear them with a Specialist so your colonists can work in peace. Fierce beasts might also attack unprovoked and cause harm to your people.

HOI4 Dev Diary - 1.9.1 Patch & Roadmap update

podcat
Hi everyone and surprise! We just released 1.9.1 to make sure you guys get all the fixes by easter. We are currently investigating some out of sync MP issues that are proven to be incredibly stubborn to nail down, so a 1.9.2 is planned after 1.9.1 to address that. Otherwise 1.9.1 has shaped up to be one of the bigger patches we have done with tons of fixes and I want to thank everyone who has helped out by reporting bugs and testing the open beta.

Today I also want to share another update to the roadmap like we usually do to the end of a patch cycle. Its both grown in some entries as well as had a couple checked off as of La Resistance.

Hey everyone! Today we’ll be talking about two changes, part of the patch coming along with the Emperor expansion. You’ve probably already spotted them both if you had a keen eye on one of our streams.

First feature is part of the Governing Capacity rework and some small rework of Government Reform Progress. We’ve changed so that changing a government reform no longer causes you to gain 10 corruption, instead it costs Government Reform progress to switch on a level you’ve already picked.

Stellaris Dev Diary #175 - Space Fauna

Hello everyone!

As I mentioned last week, we have begun working on a larger free update targeted for May, and it would be fun to share some of the new things you will be able to discover.

2.6.3 is still planned to be released as an opt-in beta SoonTM, so stay tuned for more information about that.

But for now, let’s continue and talk a little bit about what you’ll expect to see in the free May update.
