In the offensive of December 1941, Italian troops pushed into Egypt from west and east, in Palestine, with a third force making their way from west, toward Alexandria and Cairo. The voice of the radio host went on national frequencies to read a proclamation by the government promising that war in Egypt will be over before December 1942, and Italy will finally be able to sit around the table of the great empires of the world.
A correspondent with the Italian Army on the eastern front reported the Hashemite Armies opened fire immediately at the Italian advance, but Italian soldiers overran the first of the Egyptian-Hashemite positions and within a days minutes had captured the whole of Palestine. Italy is thought to have committed a massive force of more than 400.000 men, supported by thousands of tanks and tens of battleships. They are nonetheless vastly outnumbered by the Egyptian Army. Egyptian arms and ability, however, are considered vastly inferior to the Italian. The Egyptians appear to have been taken completely by surprise. Despite warnings from Northern Italy and secret intelligence reports that war was imminent as Italy was seeking to expand its border in Africa, Egypt however has refused to prepare for an invasion.. big mistake, because new fresh divisions have reached the frontlines to assist Italian troops fighting in the desert for months.
This new wave of fresh and well equipped troops have made it possible for the italians to push into Cairo and Alexandria, breaking the Egyptian army in 2 parts, and locking them up north-east of Giza. In Palestine, the Italian army suddenly moved west towards egypt to crush the enemy army in a circle, and block the rest of the enemy on the east side of the Suez Channel. In this way, cut from the rest of the army command, lacking reinforcements and supplies.. the egyptian army could do nothing but attempt a last resistance in the desert. But as egyptians were busy reorganizing themself behind the dunes of eastern Sahara, Italian cavalry divisions have marched south, to occupy key provinces in the area. After more one year of war, and thousands of dead on both sides, the Italian Empire entirely annexed Egypt on November 1st, 1942.
Hashemite Arabia did not follow Egypt's fate, however.. as they offered a white peace and a return to status-quo, hoping the Italian Regime had no interests in the Arabian Peninsula.. they were right, and when only one month late, on December 1st, Hashemite Arabians offered a white peace, the Italian Regime accepted. The First Italo-Egyptian war was over.
Now, the New Italian Empire spans from Italy to Palestine, and from Albania to Sudan.. a vast land, hard to control and to defend.. but the fate seems to be favouring the Italians, who are tenaciously expanding, year after year, their new roman empire... showing the world their true virtue and strenght.
