It ain't called The Road to Liberty for nothin'

One-word spoiler for how I plan on tackling the debt:
Socialism

The road won't end there, however ;)

Oh god...please...no.

Woohoo! Socialism!

That was an excellent war report, very exciting stuff in the North-East. Wish you gone into more detail about the naval war though. How many ships did each side have prior to the battles around the British Isles? Did you have numerical superiority? Technological superiority? Or did you use you Human cunning to outwit the doom stacks?

Also as ever I'm in awe of your graphics, so simple yet so beautiful.

I don't really consider being in debt so liberating but to each his/her own. :)

Definitely can't wait to see how you go about reasoning this. It's definitely plausible considering how much you hear about labor issues during this time period in the US and considering such an aggressive USA mindset compared to ours. . .

The Canadian War is quite a chapter in US-UK relations. Doesn't PDM have an event that allows the US to annex Canada and get cores/Canadian as accepted culture?

I certainly hope Eugene V. Debs will be coming along soon to bail America out. Solid Red until 1935?

Oh god...please...no.

Now wait a minute. Let's give socialism a fair chance before we start jumping off bridges here...assuming socialists like to build bridges.

American Socialism is like a cattle-eating India.

Not necessarily. I think Americans could do some really cool things with socialism, and make a distinctly American version of it. I don't see Americans embracing the European version, but it wouldn't be the first thing we adapted to our culture and made our own.

All I hear from this quote is bleeding children and extra-sadness. Tamper with Socialism and it will tamper with you.

Emotivisim FTW!

you have Socialised Education, Roads, military and healthcare (last is just inefficient *flame shield on*) you just call it fancy names to avoid the red scare.

you want to go really far republics are in concept socialised monarchies. which makes the US independence war... the first successful socialist revolution in modern times (give or take)

on topic though, great work on the AAR, especially the help you're giving to USCA

That was the first thing I thought of when I had read the phrase, "Government, Of the People, By the People, For the People" after I had just read socialist beliefs and quotes.

Exactly my thoughts!

I hardly think we have Socialized anything you just included. Our education system is very much private, roads vary in ownership, the military is the military, and don't mention healthcare.

Roads and Schools are, as far as I know, maintained by the government through taxes. Thus, they are owned by the government. Let's not get into the details of how much responsibility the state versus national governments are required to have for these as that doesn't matter. It's still part of the government, thus public, system. So, yes, technically roads and (public) schools are a form of Socialism insofar as they are publicly held and so any citizen may use them. Of course this being the united states there are going to be forms of privatization of both but the fact that the government has power over these two makes them (or part of them) "socialist" systems.

I would not say the same for healthcare as I don't think the government actually runs any healthcare business. Medicaid might be the only one I can think of but since I've never had any experience with health insurance this is not something I can say with any certainty.

I agree with the military just being military. Socialism to me deals mainly with economics not national defense. I could see this view though. After all there have been private militaries. . .it's just something that's so alien though to be weird when put in relation to capitalism versus socialism.

The United States is mainly capitalist but the fact that the government does have control over parts of the economy means there are socialist-type systems in place. We are a mixed-economy and therefore use both systems (Capitalist/Private/Profit versus Socialist/Public/Use) somehow.

Let's get back on topic shall we? Better yet, let us not allow this to become a flamewar, as this clearly is a sensitive topic.
