Tactical 30% doesn't seem bad at least. The rest isn't bad either.

Those eyeballs do need an update at some point, wouldn't do to have the sabres outrun the opponents just to have them get blinded because their recon ships can't keep up.

Not that we have any opponents that fast so far, but ..

Yes, I've been thinking the same.

I keep the Sabres updated because they form the cutting edge.

But we should update the Eyeballs engines, at least.

The Jerx (presumably) are going to shoot up at least two civilian Freighters before Randakar arrives.

One Freighter bites the dust.

The second Freighter has come under attack.

Four hours and forty-three minutes away from the jump point.

Two down.

Randakar will be there in a few hours.

Randakar arrives in the contested star system to find the wrecks of the two attacked Freighters.

He is immediately hailed by two more Freighters who report that they have been ambushed, apparently by Pirates.

The Pirates knock out the second pair of Freighters.

Randakar is closing in on them, four or five hours away from the scene.

Jerx it is.

The Jerx have turned away and are attempting to flee... but Randakar is nearly 5,000 kps faster. Good luck with THAT.

Now less than three million km apart. The stern chase will be over soon.

Randakar himself just one-shotted the Jerkmobile. Sabre V 030-U is your own ship, yes?

sb-738.jpg

Just a fluke... his first shot punched through the armor and detonated an engine. The 72 points of bonus damage wrecked the enemy ship.

You can say whatever you want but that has got to look good to the higher-ups ;)

Sniped it from nearly a quarter of a million km away.

What was that saying again? "Luck is an accident that happens to the competent". :D

So, was it just a lone raider again or are there more of them?

Napoleon was of the opinion that he would rather have lucky Generals than skilled ones.

Of course, it's not necessarily either / or.

Don't know yet.

I'm going to leave Randakar on patrol while I bring in a Colony Ship to recover the life-pods, and a Wrecker to dismantle the wrecks.

We should know by the time they arrive whether any more Jerx are around.

It would make sense for the civilian companies to design armed escort vessels for themselves in response to this kind of development.

They can't though.

Edit: ditto for salvage vessels, really.

I might have to set up small Naval bases in these "empty" systems, just to keep a Sabre detachment operational in each one.
