1. Egypt
With a Republic of Egypt declared in June of 1953, and with a few years until Nasser, Egypt is in a unique and transformative stage at this time. Furthermore, the Middle East is always full of fun characters and player interactions.

2. North Korea OR South Korea
I have always been fascinated by the Korean peninsula in the postwar era. I loved playing North Korea briefly in Max's 1956 game, and I would be glad to try it here. On the other hand, South Korea under Rhee and before the Miracle would be fun too. Whichever one you want filled, I'm game.

3. Anything else you need.

1) Cuba

With the Cuban revolution having not yet began and Batista's millitary coup being incredibly recent, there are multiple avenues for actions. There is also the question of what would have happened if Castro had died at Moncada barracks.

2) The Republic of China

While not holding any of the mainland, it does still hold large amounts of international significance due to it's security council seat. Likewise, rapid industrialisation has not yet occurred.

3) The Democratic Republic of Korea

With the Korean War ongoing, and looking to end in a stalemate. It will be a challenge to rebuild post war, while fending off threats from a potentially hostile Russia and China, who would each much prefer a puppet regime.

[Revised list]

1. Bhārat Gaṇarājya (Republic of India): India, having just achieved its indepedence in 1947 as the Dominion of India, and the proclamation of a secular republic in 1950, is a young state, and already have had problems with its neighbour of Pakistan. India is set to become a strong, and influential nation in Asia. Add to this an interesting cultural history/heritage, and India as a country is extremely interesting in itself.

2. 26th of July Movement: A vanguard revolutionary organization that was led by Fidel Castro, and was one of the groups that participated in the Cuban revolution against the dictator Batista. The 26th of July Movement plays are pivotal role in the history of Cuba, and could potentially led to an international crisis.

3. الجمهورية السورية (Syrian Republic): The Syrian Republic succeding the State of Syria (French Mandate), and has after the Second World War, gone through several coups, and is currently a military dictatorship. Will Syria be locked in an autocratic type of government, will it prosper as a democracy or fall to other forces during the Cold War?

1. Quốc gia Việt Nam (State of Vietnam): The State of Vietnam plays a big role in the development in South East Asia. While it historically split in two (North and South), wouldn't it be nice if it was kept in one piece?

2. Việt Minh: The league for the independence of Vietnam also plays a large role in South East Asia, in forcing the French out, and later fought the Americans and South Vietnam. This faction could quickly rise to prominence against the Western Imperialists.
