As they are beefed up mountain troops you can use them in mountains regions. Like in some parts of Middle East and Asia UK provinces or enemy provinces. They also have some bonuses in jungle, woods and forests. They don't have huge bonuses, but are good in many terrains. Also, they can paradrop.

Gurkha vs mountain infantry:

+10 organisation/+5% morale

-3 transport weight/+0.5 armor penetration

+10% better attack in mountains/+5% faster movement in mountains

+10% better attack in hills/+5% faster movement in hills

+10% better attack in jungle/+5% better attack in forests/+5% better attack in woods

So, i just use them like i would use mtn infantry? Alright. Going to make 3 or 4 divisions of those for the indian theatre.

By the way, as the UK, germany has nearly wiped out France, except for the northeastern zone, that the BEF is holding. Why hasnt Italy joined the war yet? its February 1940.

Sometime they come in late, like July, when France is almost if not dead.

Are you sure it has no impact? My supplies through manchuria seem to be very slow

To annex a country in a faction you must defeat the faction. Civil war occupation gives you the most resources/manpower/leadership and the lowest possible partisan support in the game. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there is no revoltrisk whatsoever in that land, your just fighting with your overstacked army in poor infra levels. Annex would give you upwards of double throughput but that depends on difficulty level. If you have 3.06 or 4.01 the supply mapmode tooltip for provinces state the throughput of the province, find 2 similar infra levels in your own nation and in manchuria and see if there is a throughput difference, if there is then....hurry and defeat the axis ;) Otherwise reduce your supply footprint, improve infra, or production license some air transports from the US and make some airbases.

How should I organize my submarines? I used to group three together because I thought it would protect them more, but then tried two, and I swear they're getting caught less often. Am I right? Would sending subs out acting alone in fact be the best method for raiding convoys? That is, are they ore visible in larger groups? Thanks.

I find 2 to be the optimal number for a couple of reasons:

1) More than 2 subs is easier to detect.

2) You have a finite number of admirals. If you build 40 submarines, you may not have enough admirals for them individually, but in pairs you will.

3) Single subs, with earlier torpedo techs, may not have the firepower to engage all convoys. You'll get the "we spotted a convoy but it is too heavily guarded" message with some frequency with single subs.

4) Pairs of subs have a greater chance of escaping combat with at least one sub alive, preserving the admiral for later use. Single subs die and Donitz goes down with the ship. :(

5) I have long suspected that convoy attack ratings are not additive. The threshold for being allowed to hit a convoy is dictated by your submarines versus their escorts (modified by efficiency ratings), but 3 subs don't seem to kill a lot more convoys per attack than pairs of subs. But since escorts can make single subs unable to attack, you need to cross the threshold without overstacking your firepower pointlessly.

Planes get their supplies from the province they're based.

The more demand present at the base or passing thru the base the more efficient an air supply planes day is going to be. That being said if the airbase is always in poor supply its a bad place to ship supplies out via air supply. Best airbases are airbases recieving airsupply and stockpile ports.

I just realised that some of my tier IV submarines have no engine. I don't think that was the case when I build them (I had the tech from the start to build submarines with engines.) They have been to some fights. Is there any connection? Does this repair/reupgrade? How is it possible that my subs are damaged and lose their hardware? I'm confused about this. Can someone shed some light?

Ok, in my game as the UK, im in May 1941, but strangley enough, Japan did not join the war yet. they beat nationalist china and got like 60% of their lands and they are now at peace. I've almost wiped the Italians out of Libya, East Africa is mine already. Sicily and Sardinia were captured by decisive actions by the Royal Marines and the 1st Airborne Division.
Now, the US can join the Allies, but i'm enjoying this game quite a lot, and i think that if the US joined the Allies, the fun would be over. What can i do? other than DoW the US, of course. Im open to editing the savegame file (by the way, i cant find the savegame file in the TFH folder, so i would also need pointers to tell me where it is)

The Day of Infamy (attack of Pearl Harbour) happened december 7, 1941, so you still have to wait a little bit. If you really want you can yourself declare war to Japan.

As the UK you are the leader of the Allies, so I not sure you are forced to accept the USA in your camp. Can someone explain if it's hard coded ?

The TFH savegames are in your My Documents folder (not in the TFH folder).

If the US joins the allies, this game is ruined, i believe. i think that im able to tackle the Axis by myself, got a very strong navy, and the BEF is 300.000 strong, not counting the Marines and the 200.000 i have in India and 150.000 in Britain.

You can select engine types when building ships. The default is the most advanced engine you have the tech for. Maybe you fiddled with it by accident?

Damage never permanently changes attributes or techs.

Can anyone help me? It's November 1941 at the moment, by the way...

As UK you're not forced to accept anyone in the Allies, since you're faction leader.
Just ignore the repeated 'could we get in message', and you're just fine.
However, beating the axis with 300k men is only possible with >70% Armored/Mechanized or heavy 100+ wings air cover (if USSR spanked Germany already very hard you might be able with 300k infantry)
Is their any situation into which building nukes is not a waste of ressources ? (except if the Axis beats the SU, and you play US/UK) ?
Since the only real cost of nukes is LS try it with every LS heavy country (US/UK/GER/CHI), it's way better than rockets (research only if excess LS is present and you want the Jet Engine/AAM/SAM techs), and in the hand of human players way overpowered (nuking Berlin several times on one day combined with your troops capturing any German VP, results in an immediate surrender of Germany).
