Linux: I can't get past the title screen

The game runs, but once I'm on the title screen, I can't do anything. The game tells me to press space, but that doesn't do anything. What should I do?

Since ram is quite affordable right now, why would you want 32 gigabytes today? Isn't it wiser to get 8 GB (or 16, if necessary) now rather than waiting for costs to fall much further? He claims that he seldom ever utilizes anything larger than 8 gigabytes. DDR4 memory costs are only expected to decrease from here since DDR5 has already been announced and is likely to launch next year.
