Oh and btw mexican gold mines are almost depleted. Mexican production originally was more than South Africa but today it's a meager 22 tons per year and it's distributed accross a very large numbers of mines so we can't really say one province has gold as it's primary ressource. But there are very large gold reserves in the sierra madre mountains in SE usa (because those weren't emptied for 450 years).

Oh and you might even convince me to share the work from my mod on which provinces I put gold in, why, and how many (for the values in province.csv) all based on those 2 sources (obviously south africa get values between 60-100 just like the mayas had)

Here's a little comparaison sheet

Canada 158t
USA 325t
South Africa 367t
Chile (inca) 40t
Mexico (maya) 22t
Cuba 0.4t
Australia (concentrated in west) 285t
Peru (inca) 134t

Ex-Soviet union and russia also produces a lot as does china
Oh and steirmark seems to never have produced gold
