From 1993, we could turn the EU into a mutual exchange of trade agreements between the countries, and then hold the elections in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Austria in 1994.

From year 2007 - let the belgic state shrimp into Brussels, due to the creation of the "Belgae Confederacy". From year 2010, the year that saw the abandonment of the BC, we could create a independent EU state, through an event called "Creation of an European Infrastrucure".

Then turn Brussels, and the French "Elsass-province" (Strasbourg), and perhaps even Luxembourg into a European state, which has every other state in the EU, due to national events, as vassals.

What do you think?
 
There are allready people working on events over the EU, me for instance, and Belgium is gonna be split up in 2007.

For the tradeagreements: 1. I don't think they can be forced by events
2. Havin like 15 tradeagreements brings your trade efficiency down by 15% (got to check the number)

But your innitial ideas were good so maybe you could create some events for MDS
 
Digitally Incompetent

I cannot write events as I'm digitally incompetent in such things... but I have a vision for an enjoyable game with the EU. One Idea could be to open up a new trade center in Frankfurt when the common currency is introduced.

Part II

The history is simple. The European Union in the early decades of the 21th century could not in it's previous form become a functioning administrative body, without the inevitable development into a real federation.

The first EU president was Joschka Fischer, who earlier had been the leader of the Green Party in Germany. He did accomplish pretty well, from the federalists point of view, but the economy of Europe did not grow in anticipated strength.

The Fischer Commission resigned on the end of it's ten year term, and the new Gabalta Commission, lead by the portuguese economist and doctor Juan Gabalta. Large Scale privatizations, lower tolerance against Unions and a good relationship with the US were actions and moods in term with a decade of Neo Liberalism and the growth of libertarian ideals in the EU. The Gabalta Commission, economically successfull, resigned on it´s time, 2025.

The next president become the greek former right wing prime minister Arkimedes Demokritos. It was then it all fall apart, in year 2027.
 
The collapse in 2026 become inevitable because of the crisis in the Service Sector, which had been blown up to gigantic proportions. The Euro Currency lost, over a night, half of it's initial value, and the unemployment raised up to 25% of the European working population. Several million Europeans leaved their homes, or become refugees in their own countries, travelling from place to place looking for something to earn money on. Demonstrations, riots and violence soon erupted in the big cities of several European Countries, and the national funds shrinked down to a minima. Poor Europeans sat up their own alternative hoods and societies, living as outlaws in their own continent... It was clear that the economy had all but collapsed - remembering not of the IT-bubble in 2000, or the black friday in 1987, but of the Great One of 1929.

Several radical groups used the crisis to agitate their own perverse xenophobic politicial ideals, and soon, since long buried conflicts erupted again, and actual conflicts turned into open confrontations.

The Cypriotic Republic, with it's Turkish and Greek minority, became one again a political hotspot in the world, as the Greek Orientated Hellenic National League and even more openly fascist groups used parliamentary basis to overoll the right-state. A conflict over an estate in eastern Cyprus soon turned out to be the spark which injected the flame.

The Island was set a fire by Turkish Rebellion, and Greek ethnic cleansing of Turkish villages. In just a month, over 28 people was killed in what seemed to be a new Balkan War. The republic of Turkey declared that it would not accept the oppression of their brothers in Cyprus.

The reactions in the European Parliament became a storm, and when the Debate Issue came up, despite tries from the Demokritos Commission to delay it, it become clear that it was ther responsibility of the European Union to take care of the Cyprus War.

The parliament did, after long anger towards the commission, use the Cyprus conflict to claim a mistrust vote on President Demokritos, who, before the vote could be done, resigned. It was the 11th of june 2027...

The rise of Henry Lindenberg...

Henry Lindenberg, a previous publicly unknown delegate from the Netherlands, tough born in Wales, turned out to be the favourite of the new election in 2027, because of his role as a fierce representative of a "New Deal"-political image, and his non-corrupt sober and serious style.
He was elected the 7th of July 2027 to continue the work of the previous commission, in his own new way. It was meant that NATO would be sent into the Cyptriotic War as a peace force, but Henry soon broke all taboos when he sent in the RRA (Rapid Reaction Force), under the commando of the Finnish Brigadier General Daniel Sund. Even if the doubt was great, the European Parliament did vote to support this daring action. And the 5.000 RRA-troops were assembled in Rhodos, where they established a headquarter, and then swiftly turned it's attention to Cyrpus. This time, it became a success, and the ethnic cleanshing of the Turkish minority become stopped.

Through the result of this intervention, Henry Lindenberg, firstly a compromise candidate, become perhaps the most popular European Commission President of the seventeen years that had forged EU as a sort of federal state.
His economic policy was simple. Cut down bureaucracy, higher tariffs and more powerful centralization projects. More secretly, he did create a Military Industrial Complex. Still, life were harsh for most Europeans, but it become better with the more power EU gained. The most popular actions of Lindenberg, was in the social area, where he strongly supported civil rights movements, animal rights activists, unions, religious minorities, ethnic minorities, gay people, women, children, disabled people and the environment.
But some questions did not have satisfacting answers, as timne passed, Lindenberg come with more and more official comments, regarding a positive outlook on euthanasia of gravely mental ill people, the instatement of aristocratic beliefs, and some sort of "wait and see"-attitude.
Europe did grew, both in quality and quantity. For the first time in 30 years, the population of EU grew, the universities become better. EU become the most egalitarian power in the entire world, with most students, teachers, doctors, workers and artists. An intellectual revolution took place, and the culture flourished. The hyper-democratic society of the EU in the 2030;s did not lessen the anger against the union in far member states as Britain, Spain, Poland and Sweden, or in de-centralistic states as The Netherlands.
Lindenberg took every advantage to weaken the power of the member states, tough linking their military facilities to EU, tough supporting indenpendence movements in Catalunya, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, Morea, Create and the Baleares, such making these new "regions" parts of the EU state rather than their former national states.
This grew anger, yes hate, in Spain, Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Poland, and the continuing infrastructure crisis in those countries was explained by the growing EU-power. A separatiast movement sprung up in 2035, creating political instability throughout the political entity of the union.

In 2037, the Separatist forces united in an alliance against the European Union, and, tough reluctantly, Lindenberg accepted a vote on the issue of the creation of an European Army to defend against the terrorist activity, inward and outward.

The vote was passed, after a wave of violence in most European Countries, and the result became horrendous. In the first week, more than ten thousand people lost their lives through the civil unrest, and the separatist declared themselves independent.

Henry Lindenberg was forced to inform martial law, and from "nowhere", 200.000 units appeared in the Low Countries, destroying rioters, terrorists and reguliar military units of the separatist alliance now known as "Free Nations of Europe".

The European civil war had begun...

Wow, great ideas but I think there a wee bit to early, we, in MDS, are planning a big World War in that period and it would be silly to have a civilwar that early. Espessially if you know that the EU is supposed to be formed as a reaction to the revival of the USSR and the new Persia and the Arab League/Empire. But as I have said before there good events. Maybe the place in time is a bit wrong.

EU before federation

EU/EG could in the beginning of the MDS be a modern type HRE, which could be seen on the ideological map. The country that is governing the union for a sixth month term, would in that case replace the holy roman emperor
 
I don't even think we should even botter to use the HRE because its too damn hardcored ( FRA and HOL can't ever be in the HRE and the provinces of the HRE are also hardcored)

event - The Hydrodrome Revolt

date - 6 august 2068

background - In the mid fifties and sixties, a new sport become rather popular in Europe. The So-called Hydrocopter races, which took place on several water-filled stadions which where funded by the imperial government. The race was done by hoovering-machines above the water, and it was a lethal sport, faced by accidents. The Bristol accident in 2065, where 12 innocent people in the public had been killed by an exploding hydrocopter, forced the authorities to take out special action to minimize the accidents, tough regulations and better control. That did'nt suit the fan-clubs, which did view hooliganism as a religion. They saw the imperial interferences as personal in-respect.
If you had to watch a Hydrocopter race, watch it in Europolis, the imperial capital, formerly known as "Brussels". The imperial government, together with the Farley Magnate and the CC, has funded the Hydrodrome Stadion, the grandest in the entire world, with seat place for over one million people.
The sixth of august, three of the players were hurt in a diver accident underneath the Hydrodrome, so the long anticipated race was cancelled. The fan-clubs revolted, and took control of the stadion, as the imperial envoy fleed to his master in the People's Palace. The hooligan event did create an all out, mostly unprovoked revolt against the emperor and the Union, which from now on was lead by some of the students movements in several European cities.

Date - 12 may 2069

The last year of the Imperial Government, the emperor did rule his vast empire from a plasma bed, floating in chemicals and tied up with breathing cables and machines. That did'nt help, and 99 years old, emperor Henry I, previous known as Henry Lindenberg, peacefully fell asleep and ceased to live.
He had been the greatest leader - or the worst tyrant - of the 21th century, and had made Europe, earlier a weak and decripid continent into a young, vibrating, healthy and vital empire which now was made up of many provinces in Africa, Asia and the Oceans. But he had also the responsibility for over 20 million dead europeans and about 100 million dead people in the Outrémer.
Who could replace him. There were two main candidates, which both wished to replace the old Emperor. It was Joachim of Anglia and Peter of Wittenberg. Which should we choose?
 
eu should be a military alliance+trade agreement and maby get elections like the holy roman empire
wen eu get unified Brussels should be the capitol. eu shouldnt have the cultures of the smaller countries getting into it and you should make a disintegration of european union event(id say eu lasts for about 50-70 years)
 
Erm, colapse of Sweden?

I think Svealand would be a part of the northern part of Sweden then.

The swedish king and the centralization of the swedish government to Stockholm have allways been supported in northern Sweden.

But I rather think that basicly Sweden will vote about leaving EU in the closest 10 years IRL.

It is only Stockholm, Malmö, Skåne and the Socialistdemocratic party that try to do whatever they can to move the power to EU.

The rest of Sweden (And hopefully the king) support of voting about leaving the EU for all future.

Nationalistdemokraterna and Sverigedemokraterna gets more and more votes because of their aggressivity against EU.

IF they get enough votes, it can be rather dangerous in that way if not we leave EU.

They basicly supports Hitlers ideas, their party leaders are all some sort of criminals and have been in jail for attacking civilian jews.

They also support a expanded military and closing Sweden for all future imigration..
 
A unified EU would be very, very powerful. The civil war that has been proposed earlier seems alright, both since it is simply cool, and also because the EU would be too powerful otherwise, but this empire thing is going a bit too far in my opinion. It isn't something that would happen... but perhaps Lindenberg could become an "ordinary" dictator instead? That would make more sense to me.

I would also like to make a few changes: the EU gets unified as part of a war against the New Soviet and Arabia, and if they lose that war, it gets disintegrated and Europe returns to an old Cold War-ish state were the eastern countries are vassals of Soviet (some of them getting annexed).

Also, since Turkey will now prolly get into the IRL EU, perhaps they should have the possibility of joining the EU in game, and also to become part of the unified EU. This would cause a civil war in Turkey, were the eastern-most provinces of Turkey become a new "country" of Muslim rebells who doen't want to have anything to do with Europe and EU. Arabia will have the ability to help these rebells, and if the rebells win their war by capturing the all the Asia Minor provinces of Turkey, they should be able to recreate Turkey, however without the Thrace-province (it goes to the EU as part of the peace deal). This will be done via events. This new Turkey will also get the choice to become closer to Arabia (choice 1: Become Vassals, choice 2: Become Annexed, choice 3: No).
 
EU as one country is IMO stupid idea. I think there are two possibilities of solving the situation - creating EU as a country tag (w/o provinces) and making member countries it's vassals or simply forgetting about whole structure.
