If I get to understand better how this game works I might be interested after all. I agree with Ozzeh etc that Sundays are after all the best day to play, not least because we can play for 5 hours as we did in FN (17.00-22.00 CET is superb).
FAL made a reference to the DU system, but what is that?
Also, there seem to be some kind of RP element, is that true? Or is there only a necessity to write AARs?
Daniel,
I am not sure yet what HoG is planning. I think it's only necessary to describe your actions in a small AAR.
The DU system was that each player had to give a score to each other player regarding his Administration, Diplomacy and Military performance, for the previous session.
You should rate each player bearing in mind the limitations of a country. So, it would be a better performance for a player to get rich with Russia than with Portugal for a session.
Each player would give a short summary of the actions he undertook with his country after the session, after which all players rate their co-players. It requires minimal energy this way.
The average score would then be a fair representation of your performance.
The average score after the end of the campaign would then be your final score. It's then crystal clear who 'won' the campaign, who the best economiser was, the best warlord and so on.
It's necessary to be able to win wars, perform well with trade, and have a sound diplomacy to win the game.
Also, you should be able to perform well with each country, which separates the allround players from the specialists who are only good with land powers, for example.
It's a great way to learn to play the various countries for newbies too. DU is quite newbie friendly since they don't have to live with their own results forever, but can try new countries after a certain while. Veterans have to 'repair' some countries now and then, but get rewarded for this in their score too.
