Another new feature of Arsenal of Democracy is the ability to deploy units directly overseas if you have enough IC in the area. The United Kingdom is now able to deploy units directly to India. This is much more convenient than continually having to rebase transports to move troops to India.

Yes, this is a nice and welcome feature. :)

Also, brigades are no longer stuck in the area the unit they were attached too was stationed. This way it is no longer necessary to rebase a ship to England if you want to change the brigades on it.

Do you mean naval brigades or all types of brigades? Although it'd be convenient to exchange the brigades of my divisions within minutes around the globe, i'd favor the oldfashioned way, since that doesn't look like teleporting...

I just wonder why the planes attached to a CVL won´t be able to attack enemy ships?

IIRC most CVLs in real life were ASW platforms, so they had fighters and some planes that could drop depths charges.

will later versions of the CVL CAG have a sea attack or shore attack value (to simulate support from amphibious landings (i.e. Tarawa) or naval battles like Leyte Gulf)?

Has anything been done with overseas manpower bug? Devs?

Also, I have a proposal for future patches or expansions - can manpower modifier for core provinces be made to overrule colonial (overseas) modifier? The thing is that I want to mod in united Commonwealth, and even if I give cores to UK for dominions, I still get pathetic manpower from them because of colonial modifier. I know its stupid to ask this purely for my game experience, but it will have effect also on normal UK (North Ireland), France (Corsica), Italy (Sardinia), Indonesia (the biggest effect) and other nations with large islands and seperate landmasses.

Beside it is logical that if some country has cores overseas (representing loyal population that feels as a full part of a nation), it should also get full manpower from there.

Part II – War 1939

Other than Japan defeating China in 1938, the game was pretty historical up to the point where Germany declared war on Poland on August 30th 1939. I was able to eventually build up my infantry and interceptors to a decent level by the time the war started. The following screenshots show the placement of France and Poland’s armies at the outbreak of war. Also included are screenshots showing the Allied force composition at the beginning of the war.

As the war begins to unfold, I have chosen to try and play as historically as possible. That being said, Poland is on its own. The German immediately launched an attack on Poland as soon as the war started. As far as the speed of conquest is concerned, the German AI is very similar in Arsenal of Democracy to Armageddon. Germany was actually able to annex Poland on October 1st. This did not cause any game problems because the eastern half of Poland was still handed over to the Soviet Union the next day.

Finally I am going to discuss air missions. Air missions have changed in Arsenal of Democracy. In previous versions of HOI2 you could only target areas for air missions. It is now possible to target a single province for air missions. You also have the choice of choosing an area or an entire region if you need too. This gives the player much better control over their air forces. It also reduces micro management to some degree. Another new feature to air missions is the infinite mission box. If this box is checked the air mission continues indefinitely.

In Arsenal of Democracy radars are actually useful. Not only do the give combat bonus, but they actually direct you fighters on air superiority missions to enemy aircraft. No longer will your fighters be wandering aimlessly while the enemy is bombing you.

Also in Arsenal of Democracy the bombing missions have changed somewhat. The strategic bombing now damages everything in the province. Industrial bombardment is now the mission that just damages industry and resources. In the next screenshot you will notice that I am not using escorts with my bomber. This is because escorts now correctly reduce the range of bombers they are attached too.

This concludes this part of the AAR.

Why are you building BBs if I may ask? Build carriers or tanks instead, because IIRC BBs are essentially useless, or has that been changed?

Maybe he is going for some variety/historical flavour? Powergaming is just no fun :(. But I do hope that the power of battleships has been increased from Arma. I do love my pet German super heavy BBs.

I have been told to roleplay as much as possible. That is what the United Kingdom built historically.

Edit: The IC days for a level 4 battleship is now 4080. That is quite a drop off from the 7300 in Armageddon. Aircraftcarrier costs have not changed.
