Just a small update for everyone who wonders what's going on with AAR:

We are currently in the process of porting AAR to 1.03, and making it compatible with the coming patch. Expect AAR to be playable with the 1.03 beta patch (if there is one) the day it's released. :)

Here's a question for everyone: I'm playing as Turkey starting in 1914. I joined up with Germany but they lost big time. France took out the whole southern portion of the country and then swept north to cut them in half. I , however, did rather well fending off the British in the Sinai, taking Kuwait, and beginning to move into the Caucasus. Germany surrendered but the Entente kept fighting me. I've taken the whole Caucasus as well as most of Ukraine with the backup of the Volunteer Army. It's now 1919 and the French, Italians, and British are still at war with me even though I've offered them multiple white peace offers. I'm actively fighting the Soviets. I'd think by now the Entente would accept my peace and move on. Would it be to gamey to cheat and force them to accept my white peace offer? You'd think they'd be glad I was fighting the Soviets!

I think peace would be inevitable. Maybe, Sinai and Kuwait as a little gain?

Ok, thanks for the encouragement. :) I think by 1920 if a stalemate would have been in place since 1914, England and France would be done with the war.

Edit: Interesting note, I was the only country in the Central Powers at 1932 when Nazi Germany formed. Suddenly they "joined" my alliance and became the leader of it! Now I'm a junior member of the Axis alliance. :/

AAR is now compatible with 1.03.

Of course, there are probably some issues with old events, so looking forward to new bug reports.

That's a relief, of course, considering that 1.03 hasn't even been released. :p ;)

That's not an announcement.

An announcement is something like "We only have 1 ticket left before we can release the next version of AAR"

Well you think its a bad thing? I mean you can really do some dammage to Egypt as the Italians move in. And is there an event for a white army victory?

Hi, I registered just to throw my €0.02 in the lot. I don't know if you've already considered the events for smaller powers, Finland in particular. I have a few good ideas for events for Finland that probably wouldn't occur to anybody who hasn't had to sit through countless lectures of Finnish history.

First of all Finland should strive for independence from 1914 onward, when it still doesn't exist as a nation. So if Russia loses Finland's key provinces, like Helsinki, Turku and Vaasa, it could trigger an event to establish an independent Finnish state (for the Germans in particular, who were very involved in creating Finland in 1917-1918) seeing how Finland had autonomy within the Russian empire.

Now Germans conquering Finland would be an ahistorical scenario, but in a more historical timeline Finland would declare independence as fast as possible after a revolution in Russia. After Kerensky's revolution the Social Democrats controlling the majority of the Finnish Parliament declared the Parliament as the supreme legislative power in Finland in July 1917, which corresponded very closely to a constitution. However the Russian government dissoluted the Parliament (an event perhaps?) which temporarily suppressed the Finns. The October Revolution however finally drove even the Finnish right-wing to support independence, which they were originally sceptical about. Finally in December 6th 1917 an official DoI was made, which Lenin acknowledged in January 4th 1918.

1918 saw the Finnish Civil War between the Whites and the Reds, which the Whites won with German help. It was planned to install a German king in Finland and form a monarchy, but the plan died once Germany surrendered in WWI.

So the Finnish events would depend hugely on what happens in the war and with the Russian revolution. I would imagine that if Kerensky's revolution had failed, Finland wouldn't have declared independence before the Tsarist Russia ceased to exist in some other way or Russia lost control of Finland. Alternatively if the October Revolution had failed, the Reds would have started a mutiny in Finland and declared independence in spring 1918, creating a socialist Finland. Or if Germany hadn't lost WWI by 1919 and Whites had won the Finnish Civil War it would make sense to let the Finnish player/AI decide on whether to form a republic or monarchy.

I hope this is of any value to anyone.

I'm guessing you're waiting until 1.03 to release your next version?

This is why I love Darkest Hour. The community is so passionate about getting history right in this game to make sure it's fun and rewarding for everyone, no matter how esoteric certain historical events are.
