Hi,

yes you are right!
I don't know why, but they were given per event to them. Don't worry, they'll give them back to me because as good friends of ours they know what is right

Imagine they kept Nice and Grenoble...we joined the war on their side, saved their butts and all we got is...well, nothing, we lost 2 provinces :)

Tonight I will update again.

Excelent! Now you've got a real ally in the south. It's odd that Germany hasn't reacted yet.

On Sep 11, 1937 our friends in South Italy declared war on the evil North. It came as a real surprise to us, because we had not expected this, nor have we been informed of our ally's plans.

This sounds familiar to me... :D

@Kuzux, I was asked this question before and I can only repeat myself: In my last game with Britain, Spain became powerful enough to backstab France during her war with Germany. I wanted to avoid this. To be honest, I haven't followed the Spanish Civil War in that game and I don't know how it ended. I was simply scared that the same destiny might happen to me in this game.

I started this game, saw I have a lot of decent troops and invaded Spain. That's all to it. Problem solved..kind of ;)

@Alan, you might be right, I wouldn't know though, since I am German and don't drink wine that much

It's alright, a good old Warsteiner is better than wine any day of the week right?

Yes, you are right (I never thought about the word 'war' in the brand's name ), but for this AAR, wine is the way to go, of course ;)

Next update tonight (sorry, had to work long hours yesterday and couldn't update).

Update 5

Peace broke out again - and if it were to us, it could prevail for quite some time! Our initial plan to prepare for Germany has been undone. We now need to get back on track.

What's happening in the world? Well, let's see...

Nations declaring independence and wars are going on. It can be only helpful for France that Germany is distracted with a colonial war in the far East.

But let's focus on old Yurope. We NEED a strong partner. To achieve this, we are giving all blueprints we have to Sicily. We also support them with resources.

In June '38 4 new factories are finished. Again, France's IC increases and makes her more productive than ever before.

10846917ik6.png

Now that's a decent move of Sicily. They're giving Grenoble and Nice back to where they belong - France. Without hesitation we accept this deal (should we give them Sardinia?).

We plant our first spy into Germany. If the information is close to being accurate, the situation is better than I actually had feared. They definitely have a stronger military than us, but except for their superior navy, I don't think they would be able to overrun France.

Vietnam didn't exist for long. Just a few months after their declaration of independence they had been annexed by Germany again.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic...

At least we know what other nation we have to cope with in that region of the world. Mexico might become a 3rd power over there, after USA and Canada. We're quite liked by the Mexicans, the Americans and Canadians hate us (NO MA'AM's commandment number 2: "It is wrong to be French").

You don't have to head too far away to see action in the world. Russia is rather active in her former provinces. She declares war on Azerbaijan, obviously Persia declares war on Russia as they also have territorial demands there.
12220464pr6.png

And now, it is getting really interesting.
Austria declares war on Lithuania. OK, that doesn't sound too interesting, I know, but bear in which military pacts are triggered here.
11841173xl0.png

Well, I was celebrating this for myself. A war between the former allies in WWI could only mean good for France. They would weaken themselves and before they would know, Sicily marches into Austria and the Balkan, and France reclaims both the Rheinland and Elsaß.

But look at this...

10ho5.png

Only THREE hours after the declaration, peace was declared between all involved nations. The status quo remains, and we couldn't profit from this situation at all. Maybe Otto I. just misclicked "declare war" instead of "influence nation"? I mean, at age 91 he is not the youngest after all ;)

With the development of a new light carrier technology, we are ordering 3 of these little beauties to improve our navy.
11fu1.png

Talking about beauties, just a few days later, France's new love was finished.
12tg3.png

Some things are happening to Germany. They want to repopulate Livland and make it culturally German for all times.

13ws7.png

We are changing our goals concerning foreign politics. France abandons her strategy of influencing Russia's politics and then hoping they will be friendly towards us. A government that right-winged will never ally with us. They'd probably rather team up with our ultimate foe! It is up to us, to wake the Russian people up and help them take control of their own politics!

14vb8.png

Due to our new goals and our constant lack of money, we need to change our production towards consumer goods. Russia is VERY hard to infiltrate with spies, even though we have a 20% chance, it takes about 5-6 attempts to plant a spy every time. Also, see how well Sicily is doing. At a nice 81 IC output, they should very soon be quite strong. Maybe they will build 2 more factories and get another tech team.
15sn8.png

In November '39, we finally saved enough money and start our coup campaign in Russia. Unlucky, our attempt failed :( But we have to keep on trying!
17nx5.png

The roaring 30s are coming to an end. Shortly before that happens, we have a massive run of upgrades done. Also, Russia annexes Mongolia.
18zr2.png

At the beginning of 1940, the Elsaß-questions pops up again. We send the ultimatum to the other side of the border...
19et0.png

20ku3.png

Germany tells us that they are ready to fight for the Elsaß and not give it up peacefully, to whom it rightfully belongs. Unfortunately, we have to step back. We sent them the ultimatum but didn't have the power to back our demands. Internationally we made fools of ourselves. Our isolationist level has increased again. It really hurt, but it was in the best interest for our peoples.

Goals for the next year(s):

- organise/enlarge our army
- help the Russian socialists gain power
- reoccupy our rightful Elsaß

Update 6 (since I couldn't update yesterday, there are 2 today)

Strategically, there is only one way to approach the new situation: We need to make STRONG friends, or, make our friends STRONG to finally succeed. Let's have a close look what our and our friend's military looks like.

27582131uu9.png

This is not even close to what I had hoped for to have achieved by now. Sicily has made a step into the right direction, but for some reason they heavily focus on their navy instead of preparing for an Austrian invasion. We need better or more friends :)

71497901mn3.png

Our production queue is full of badly needed military units. Though, look at our dissent level at 10% (because our nation lost belief in the scared government) and the high production of consumer goods to satisfy the masses. Due to our interest in couping Russia, we need to make money anyway, so this is a nice side effect (the production numbers obviously are not updated yet, we definitely make more than $0,0/day ;). Whenever France has $600 collected, we will support our spies in Moscow to initiate a coup. This procedure had already started last year, and will now be itensified.
Meanwhile, Russia's great power-ambitions haven't stopped. They persuaded Japan to have free elections in Transamur (formerly Japan's puppet) and whether they would like to remain with Japan or return to Russia. I guess the decision wasn't hard for its inhabitants. Vladivostok is finally Russian again!

The French-German border already is heavily fortified. Also, notice our well organised air force on the left.

I am not exactly sure what the Germans are planning with Estonia here, but whatever it will be, I am sure it is not in the interest of their people!

OK, now for some really interesting news...

Soviet Russia has arisen!

The 6th attempt at couping Russia finally worked. However, the game crashed :( Unfortunately, I had no save game within the last 6 months, so I had to reload the game from January 1940. As soon as I had collected enough money, I saved and couped them again (I used 'acceptall' but I do not consider this cheating because it had worked and the game simply crashed).

Again, the game crashed the following day at exactly 03:00am. I tried it several times, on different days, the result was the same. I was desperate to find out the reason because I had put so much effort on allying with Russia, I saw no reason to continue the game without them as a partner after all the money I had put into our relationship/spying instead of my own military. Russia was still at war with Turkestan and Azerbaijan and I thought this might cause a problem. I reloaded the game as Russia, used "acceptall" to make peace, puppetted Turkestan (they would lose anyway) and signed white peace with Azerbaijan. Then I saved again and tried to coup with France again...and now, it finally worked! A lot of pop-ups concerning the Soviet Empire came up, and I guess that didn't work out too well when they actually were at war with some of them. Sorry, I couldn't remain true to myself, and had to 'cheat' here - Now Le Tour can continue!

The Soviets Arise!!!

Who is their leader?

I am pretty sure that the USSR isnt supposed to work yet. I formed the USSR from Russia a few months ago in KR and it was very buggy and unfinished. Just dont touch Russia in terms of politics, it will mess your game up. :(

SOVNARKOM was the Soviet Supreme Council.

They met together and "democratically" made all the decisions by a vote.

IRL they were severely manipulated by Stalin, in fact most of them were his cronies.

Don't think you've cheated. You have just sorted out the problem.

Unfortunately, their leader seems to be some sort of alien.

Update 7

Hello,

welcome to my 7th update. I think, after all that has happened, it might be a good idea to have a quick general overview of what's happening in the world. This will be a minor update with no progress being made. The year is now early 1941.

So, let's have a look.

81991111lh6.png

This is North America. Canada controls the whole north, including Alaska. The United States are the main power on the Atlantic and the whole middle west. Mexico is a large country and controls almost the complete Pacific coast.

21494906xr6.png

I have to admit, that I am not 100% sure that nothing happened in South America, but I think this was the case. Brazil is the major power, and also is syndicalist. Maybe they can become friends (and helpful?) one day. In the Caribbean several wars between Haiti and the Dominican Republic took place - only to re-establish the status quo, as far as I remember.

18151878tk9.png

The major powers in Africa are Mittelafrika (Germany's puppet), National France and Portugal. Lybia looks huge but at an IC output at 7, it is definitely a minor nation. Egypt is quite successful in the north. We also have a few colonial possessions, however, except for their strategic value in case of a planned landing, they are completely useless. Not a single IC or resource unit we can gather from these provinces.

62926847uy7.png

Delhi is the major power in central Asia. Mongolia has been annexed by our Soviet friends. Germany herself and her puppets are still a major power in south east Asia. Vietnam's thrive for independence was brutally ended by the predominant power.

25662419ez4.png

Oceania is not really spectacular. Nothing to report from this area of the world.

87001415dd9.png

And this is Europe. There can be doubt that a big war is soon to arrive. Soviet Russia made no secret of her interest to reclaim the former Russian regions. The community of states knows this would result in a huge war, similar to WWI. Neither Germany nor Austria would tolerate a power like Soviet Russia regaining her power she had before WWI. And this time, it would be even worse: There is no Tsar in charge, no, it's the Russian people who want to spread peace and equality all around the globe! What a disgrace. And what is nearer than freeing the former brothers and sisters in countries that used to be Russian?

What we - France - have to hope for is that Soviet Russia does not precipitate the decision. The Sicillies suddenly declared war on North Italy before we were really prepared. If Russia declares war on the Austrian and/or German alliance too early, we would be doomed.

Tomorrow I'll (try to) provide you with a storyline and on Saturday there will be action again (promise! :p)

Wow, the Soviet's are quite large.

Yeah, Sovnarkom does look like some sort of Alien. It is actually a Hammer and Sickle though.
