I am a newly-entered member in the world of Europa Universalis II (from august) and this is my first AAR. Some observations:

a) Nicolae Balcescu existed, as well as the edited leaders and rulers; in spite of the Romanian historiography, I recreated a Moldavian nation, but beware, not in a great evolution as it would have been expected. Read the small poem and try to imagine the causes of the Revolution in 1848. The story will not be linear; the old and modern will coexist, as in any (good) polemic history
b) I am not a native Englishman and I may use some #$@&% words. I don`t care at all, why should you?
c)I am not a great specialist at this game (big wonder!!!). I am intersted more in the plot and relations established between different countries, religions, civilizations etc. I hope I`ll be forgiven if I won`t conquer the world...
d)I changed the numbers for Stephan the Great (4 instead of 1 at fire) because of:
1.He is the greatest military mind in Moldavia`s history
2.From 1457 to 1504 (by the way, he will live as a leader the whole period) he defeated moldavians, wallachians, hungarians, tartars, turks, polish soldiers etc.
3.He will be the comparing point of all my included generals
e)The colour of Moldavia was changed. Its capital was changed (from Iasi to Suceava, the real capital of the country `till 16th century). The world will change from the moment I ENTERED THE AARLAND !!! (short moment of napoleonic grandeur...)
f) My objectives are:
1.to finish the game until New Year`s Eve
2.to finish the AAR until 15 January
3.to become "Writer of the Week" until 5 January
4.to feel good
5.to learn more about the game by involving in the Realpolitik of EU II
6.to destroy the state (my ultimate and only true reason for existence)
g) Thanks in advance.

P.S. This AAR will be available shortly in the PDF format, on a site near you.

Thoughts and Reflections upon the Greatness of Ancient Moldavia, after the Chronicles, Histories and Annales of the Kingdom, Conceived by Nicolae Balcescu ot Arges in the year of the Revolution 3 and that of God`s Birth 1851

Publisher`s notes:
1. On the last page of the manuscript, Nicolae Balcescu wrote five days before his death a strange and eluding poem, which was never inserted in the following editions. We won`t follow this example, considering that a writer`s work stands beyond common misunderstandings. The misterious verses are:
NORMAL times and NORMAL foes
NORMAL sets and NORMAL rules
From the better to the worse
This is my history`s course.

2. Nicolae Balcescu (1819-1852), political figure, historian and writer. Founder of "Fratia" (Brotherhood), secret republican organization, and editor of an anti-monarchist paper "Albina Moldoveneasca" (Moldavian Bee), Balcescu was one of the leaders of the Revolution in 1848 and a member in the Provisional Government. After its defeat, he fled to Italy, where he remained for the rest of his life, working at his two major works: "Year 1848" and the "Thoughts and Reflections...". He died in Palermo.

3. ot Arges = from Arges (born in Arges)

Ok, I`ve played till 1425 (i like it slow) and i am prepared to begin the aar... alone, of course...

Alex,

Looks good so far... I like the straight laced style and details of publication-and your English seems fine to me.

A tip to garner more responses-network by reading and commenting on the AARs of your fellow writers. Most are very good about reciprocating, and it increases your exposure.

Thanks...
So far, I was involved only marginally in the AARland. I have copied every great AAR on my computer, all the advices and user-friendly hints but I didn`t want to put my foot in my mouth. As I said, I am a beginner but slowly, I may evolve...
I have played till 1425 so far (I am a slow player, because I want to take as much notes as possible, I am one of those persons that can`t stand the history logs, all incomplete, vague and misterious) but the game works fine. Except for a thing, no random events yet. First, I thought that I tampered with some buttons but with F12 the events work... Strangely, I`m wishing right now a corruption event, bad:D
Sadly, I won`t finish this AAR in a month, I may need two. But nonetheless it will be finished.

HolisticGod speaks with much wisdom. Now for a couple of comments:

b) I am not a native Englishman and I may use some #$@&% words. I don`t care at all, why should you?

First off, I admire people who write a good AAR, especially when English isn't the native tongue, and you'll find that I'm pretty easy going when it comes to use of &#$@@! language if it advances the storyline. Something to keep in mind.

3.to become "Writer of the Week" until 5 January

Well, let's just see how well you do.

Bring it on. ;)

I`m a little ashamed about this, but let`s say it:

I am in 1431 and NO RANDOM EVENTS...!!!
Is this possible? I don`t think so... The game tries to give you a competition, or at least a simple task of integrating a random "joy" in your story line...
I shall reinstall the game, and rebegin the AAR. Sorry for the inconvenience... In 1431, I signed (finally, after 8 years) the peace with the ottomans, gaining Dobrudja, Rumelia and Bulgaria, but with also 4 loans, I expected and somehow (thanks Teacher!!!) wished for a little bankruptcy. No matter! Today marks the beginning of a new game.
The timeline for 5 january is pretty darn close!

PS. Lack of random events... bug or of natural causes?

Probably just random: Don't feel bad, though. Events can really knock you out of a game early. In my last game I had FOUR "temporary insanity of monarch" events in four years (or close to that), a meteor, and unhappy peasantry. It's hard to conquer the world when being chased by an angry mob with pitchforks!

The beauty of the game is that it can be so different each time you play. Enjoy it. Good luck!

Sorry, but that`s not my idea of an interesting game. You`re right, though, bad events are more common and can make life a little unsatisfactory.
