Interesting (letter from a Caroline)
Apparently this is one of the few (only?) letters preserved from a regular grunt (although this one was a cavalerist)
Highly Beloved Wife and Highly Beloved Parents, Gud With Us, As time permits I can not pas, but write my dear Wife and Highly Beloved Parents and my Masters, and let you know that I am in good health, God be Praised and horse and equipment are still whole, God be Praised, and I have been very ill, but now, God be praised, I am healthy and many are sick and many are dead, but no one in our group, Jöns Travare died in the first party, and Arvas Ryttare from Valby died the Sooth-death eleven riders are shot-dead in our company But I have written twice and never got a letter, but I think God the Highest he helps me home to You, in summer, Jesus Helping. And I mean that before Midsummer me and my comrades will be in Sweden. Not where he was from, but I believe he actually survived (spent a few years in Russian prison camp though). A few did, as you might know.
It took many, many years for him to get back though.

No, I read it in Moberg's "My swedish history"
it said something to the effect of "He was taken prisoner and released after twelve years". Unfortunately I've returned the book to the library
