EEP Navarra

I didn't know whether I should post this to the French or the Iberian thread, so I decided to open a new one.
This concerns actually two countries, Navarra and Foix ; I suggest that Foix replaces the obscure Huguenot country
(FPR) that will be no longer needed when events have been created for Navarra in the Wars of Religion. Most
(but not all, it's always better to double-check) of what I suggest is based on this
brillant site about the Counts of Foix - before reading this, I honestly did not have much of a clue about Navarra, and
I therefore may still have gotten something wrong. Just correct me.

Setup

- Navarra should have Basque and French culture; it was ruled by the counts of Evreux, a side branch of the French
crown
- Navarra could have shields on Cantabria and Gascogne since these were old basque territories (or an event to
reclaim old Basque territories like the frisian one already in the EEP)
- Foix should become an independent French vassal owning Béarn (but not ally; the counts of Foix were "ni anglais,
ni français") that is merged with Navarra in 1481
-I don't know if iron is really accurate as good for Navarra; possibly naval supplies (much of the area is covered
with forests) or simply wheat would be better
- Béarn, being situated in the Pyrenees, should really be a mountain province

Events
I have scripted events for both countries up to 1512 (when everything south of the Pyrenees was lost to Aragon).
These are still untested (will do that asap).

I'd like to suggest something about Navarra, that may at first seem a bit bizarre, but I think there is a case for them having a CB on Morea in 1419. I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I believe in the admittedly fragmented state that Greece was in in 1419, a significant proportion of the Peloponnese was ruled by a group of Navarran knight adventurers. If Byzantium gets a shield on it for owning a couple of city-states, then I think Navarra definitly has a case...

Nah... A bunch of Mercenaries is hardly enough to warrant a shield I'd say. There were Navarrese adventurers holding a few of the Achaean baronies, that's true. But there were French, Catalan and Italian adventurers too...

Ok, you convinced me that this doesn't really work. However, then the Huguenot state really needs to become independent much earlier in the Wars of Religion. What about letting France release it already in the initial event in 1562?
Foix, just as suggested before, could as well take the AUV or ORL tag, since these countries are not that urgently needed.

That sounds REALLY great and should make the Wars of Religion much more interesting and challenging. If nice events for Navarra, Bourbon and Armagnac are done that tie in with the FPR ones and make them ally with them at the appropriate time and Spanish, English, Dutch and German involvement is modelled better, this should make the Wars of Religion quite exciting (and also improve game balance as it would probably severely weaken France).

"Navarra could have shields on Cantabria and Gascogne since these were old basque territories "

Actually something similar just happened in my game. I was Austria and right after Navarra emerged again sometimes in mid 17th century I allied with them and later made vassals. My policy (just for fun) was to maintain this independent country. But you can not add provinces to your vassal just like this. But I was lucky. Gascoigne rebelled and joined Navarra. Gascogne btw was part of England, then Ottoamn and later Sweden. I engaged Sweden and kept off their armies from Gascogne. So this big country (Gascogne, Bearn, Navarra) lasted til 1819. Basicaly it was the historical kingdom/duchy of Acquitane.

Seems good. Is there a flag for Foix as well?
Could you add some comments please, it is a bit hard to follow as it is. Check FAQ for suggestions.
Comments:
If in 333507 #Death of Queen Blanche, one choses tom pass the throne to Carles de Viana, the next event 333508 comes out a bit strange, since then Juan seems to be on the throne anyway. Perhaps just a change in the text will suffice.
333507 is perhaps a bit unbalanced, I understand the background for it but still no real choice for a player.

Yes, I have a flag for Foix-Béarn.
I will try to add comments to the submission.
Choosing Carlos de Viana should in fact sleep the civil war event (333508), however that will make the event even more unbalanced. Making Carlos a terribly incompetent monarch and triggering an event that lets Aragon go to war with Navarra if Carlos is installed might help in improving the a option.

What would you think about using Basque names for the monarchs of Navarra? Navarra was, despite its rulers being French or Catalan, a Basque kingdom, and it therefore seems wrong to have Spanish, French, Catalan or English names. I've found several sites with Basque names and their English equivalents, can anybody tell me if these monarch names would be right?
Charles II = Xarles II
Juan II = Iban II
Charles III of Viana = Xarles III of (what's "of" in Basque ?)Viana
Francois Febus = Frantzes Phoebus
Catherine de Foix = Katerin
Henri II = Endira II
Jeanne III d'Albret = Joana III of (again, better in Basque) Albret
Henri III = Endira III
Louis I (using Kings of France now) = Koldobika I
Louis II = Koldobika II
Louis III = Koldobika III
Louis IV = Koldobika IV
Louis V (Louis XVII, the little Dauphin who died in prison) = Koldobika V

On a side note, the already existing Basque language pool for leaders should be used by Navarra and Foix.

We should use the names the rulers used IMO. But I'm not sure what that is. Not being very useful I'm afraid.
