The clean slate

I'm wondering what actually happens whan a nation is turned into another (timurids => mughals...)? I mean BB, and relatishipewise. If you (Burgundy) had conquered a lot of French lands, and some German and Dutch lands, and had accumulated a BB value of 27, would the slate be cleaned if you became France?

So do you keep all your state cultures? For example if Aragon becomes Spain do they keep Italian culture? (Unless its removed by event, obviously)

Yes, you do. That's why becoming Russia with Novgorod is preferable to becoming it with Muscowy (more cultures).

Ah, I see. That makes me quite excited at the prospect of becoming France with Navarra.

I think you'd better check the event file for Navarra first. I don't think you can become France, but you can copy the event from a French minor's file, and just change the ID to some non-conflicting ID and the country tag.

Just checked, and the only event in major_nav.txt is the Crown of France event. Perhaps I'll think again about playing them as I like loads of events.

Once you become France, you get all the French events. However, make sure you save and reload as soon as the event fires, or you'll have all sorts of problems.

I don't think Burgundy has the crown of France event, I think the nearest to Burgundy to get it is Lorraine, and they still get German culture. Much more useful than Dutch, especially since you can get Dutch later.

Brittany can become France also and that gives you the great gaelic culture. Now you can much more easily conquer Ireland
btw, i`m not sure about that but those countries actually have no cb-shields on all french province I think? If that is the case there is no much point to start as a minor instead of france...

Orleans, Bourbonais and Auvergene (or something) have shields on all the French provinces, as far as I know. Then again, I hardly ever play the French.

I'm in fact not sure about Brittany's shield distribution, but having an alliance (albeit shaky) with England at the beginning of the 1419 scenario should indeed give her a chance for some conquests in the West of France.
