Talking The great Alexandria CoT

In my current GC (as England) the CoT of Alexandria grew pretty big. The CoT of Thrace and Astrakhan never appeard and the Mamluks (who, of course, had control of Alexandria) annexed The golden horde and Sibir so their CoT was from Etiopia in the south to Sibir in the nortH and from tripolitania in west to Krasnoyarsk in the east... I conquered that CoT

How can Astrakhan not appear? It's there to start the GC... unless you're using the EEP or something.

I was thinking the same thing..

Thrace CoT needs Ottoman empire to form, right? That is - Ottoman control of Thracia.

When I took that CoT in my Castille game, I was lucky, too. The Turks never had the idea of moving their capitol to Constantinople. Not sure about Astrakhan, though.

It was worth about 1,000 in the end.

Hehe, I got Trinidad & Tobago as a CoT as Portugal in my current game. It popped up around 1480, it's 1760 now and it controls all of central and eastern South America(my lands ), and it's worth some 1100d now. Hoho.

Don't you know your geography? Trinidad and Tobago is actually one country in todays world, and AFAIK, it is one province in EU2.

Yes Trinidad and Tobago is one country today (with considerable natural gas and oil deposits), Tobago is the larger one while Trinidad is the much smaller and northern island.

I do know my geography. I just never bothered to check if it was an island or two or what. Also it is confusing to me because i'm sleepy.

When I was Brandenburg and I Decided to go navally and start carving out a South Asian Empire, I took over most of India, Southeast Asia, and Southern China. No COTs though, I wanted my own to pop up before I went and stole all the others. But, for some reason, Alexandria just kept on growing, It got REALLY huge and I never got that new COT....

which just goes to show you really cant' predict how this whole CoT thing works.
Am having a fuzzy memory about being more mercantile to include more of your own provinces, and more free trade to include other peoples.
maybe the owner of alexandria was very free trade, preventing you own CoT from appearing.
p.s. if you really want one near indonesia, colonise australia, it works a treat for making a new CoT

And if they're in the RoTW you can easily embargo the few nations that have knowledge of them.

Thrace's cot without the Turcs

I made an event for it when Byzance can get it's hands on Trebizonde, Albania (the two other Greec states who claimed the Byzantine inheritance after the 4th crusade) and Hellas (to ake it a bit more difficult).

The best bunch of CoTs I've ever had are in my current GC as England. I have taken over all of the provinces in the Americas (but for 4) and have >700 people colonies on most of them. Here are the CoTsm all of which I have a monopoly in and nobody else has a single merchant. About 2000 trade and 5 CoTs in all.
