Transfering a saved game
I recently got a new laptop and would like to continue playing a saved game I had on my old pc on my new one. How would I go about transfering the save?

just copy the .eug and eug.cfg files of the same name to the new HOI2/scenarios/save games folder but ensure that you have an identical copy of the game (ie patched/modded to the same level as the one you're copying the saves from)

Apologies - you will find them in your HOI2/scenarios/save games folder. And you need to put them exactly at the same location in the new install

Yep, they are normal files, you can either e-mail them, upload them somewhere (for example rapidshare) and download them from the laptop, use a usb stick to transfer them, anything you want....

SUCCESS!
I've loaded up the game and all seems fine. Did I not actually need the eug.cfg file? Hurrah! You guys just saved my AAR from oblivion

Sounds like you figured it out, but the .cfg files should be in the same directory as the .eug files. They are paired up -- for each save game there is a .eug and a .cfg with the same name.

enjoy
I actually have a HOI2 Doomsday Armageddon copy on every computer/laptop in my life and use USB sticks to move my current campaign around, I've never revered a game more than this one as you understand. |
